Obvious things that nobody ever seems to say out loud: Your elbows are always the same distance from your shoulders. Your hands are always the same distance from your elbows. Your knees are always the same distance from your hips. Your feet are always the same distance from your knees. Your spine flexes, a lot, and you can move your head and shoulders and hips ALL OVER THE PLACE with twisting and compressing and stretching and it can be really, really confusing. But the long bones of your arms and legs DON'T compress or stretch, and their ability to twist is comparatively limited. So if you know where on the body your elbow would fall, you can draw a pair of perspective ellipses around the shoulder to identify the oblate spheroid surface where your elbow MUST be. It has to be somewhere on that surface; it can't be anywhere else. Similarly, from the elbow, you can locate the wrist - and thereby the hand - or vice versa. Alternately, you can draw the hand first, then intersect the surfaces from the wrist and the shoulder to figure out where the elbow has to be. (Our brains are good at this, and will mentally construct the arms if you just don't draw them at all - many cartoon characters leverage this.) Legs and feet work the same, but you also have to consider how the weight sits and I don't know how to articulate that very well yet. Anyway I hope that helped somebody. One of these days I will actually start making videos again.

Thank you! I get so frustrated with tutorials telling me to place circles and then connect them, how am I supposed to know where the circles go? Once I'm done my designs look like body parts are floating everywhere and nothing connects quite right. I would rather get the base down and then refine it so I can play around with something solid than spend hours on something just to realize my character ends up with a dislocated arm once I'm done...

The way you explain proportions and masculine and feminine drawings really helped me, my drawings went from inaccurate and basic to detailed and better looking, and you always say *why* you should draw things a certain way and how it helps later! I think it's really cool that you use this really cheap-looking pencil to draw on a cardboard scrap, which shows that it doesn't matter at all what supplies you use (in comparison to others who say it doesn't matter, while they are using things like copics)

I watched the same exact video you pointed out inthe beginning where you measure all 8 sections... I am trying to learn this so I can place small figures in my watercolor paintings. I don't realistically see myself sitting there doing the 8 sections for every figure... This video is so much better

I love this channel so much even though I only discovered it about 75 minutes ago I have learned more about things I wanted to learn about then the huge multitude of tutorial and tips videos I've watched in the past.
