In this video, we show you how we built the Arrow Lexington 10x14 storage shed, purchased from Lowes on sale. This video shows some of the mistakes and challenges we encountered as newbies on this DIY build.
Part 1 focuses on the wooden floor build which will serve as the base for the storage shed. You can see Part 1 here: • Storage Shed Floor Bui...
We are not professionals, just your average couple taking on a DIY project. If anyone is interested on how to build a shed, we hope to help them learn from our mistakes and make it easier.
Total time for the entire storage shed project to be complete was approximately 26 hours. This was due to us only working on it a few hours at a time after work on different days and weekends so it can definitely be completed a lot faster. We spent approximately $900 on this DIY build.
Most of the tools we already owned and purchased some of the video accessories from Amazon.
We purchased the following items from Lowes:
Arrow Lexington Series 10 ft x 14 ft Storage Shed Kit
7 in x 11 in x 11 in Concrete Deck Blocks
8 in x 8 in x 16 in Concrete Blocks
2 in x 6 in x 10 ft Treated Lumber
2 in x 6 in x 16 ft Treated Lumber
4 ft x 8 ft OSB Plywood

I accidentally destroyed my 10x8 Arrow shed with a tree limb. 😁 Now I'm building this 10x14 model so very useful video. 👍

I bought one of these 10’x14’ shed kits an assembled it myself in oct of 2021 ,did run into a few problems but it was suspected,however I was able to use hard ware supplied,also use clamps an cord string to help hold things together,when finished took a caulking gun an silicone an filled all cracks an around roof screws on inside have not had any water leaking inside so far but do anticipate it could in the future, I am also 69 yrs old but my neighbors an friends tell me it came out perfect. You can also put shelves inside to store up in barn roof areas!!!

Wow! Great video! Thanks for showing the time track. I also like how you used the cross-concrete blocks, another similarity of my end goal. Your great video will aid me greatly. I have purchased a metal shed kit, similar to the one you put together. I have purchased both a 4 x 8 ft sheets OSB and plywood boards. Your video and time track will aid me in being patient with myself as I put mine together. Thanks for sharing your experience and God bless!

It looks cool but I think it’s for people up north or mild weather states. In TX, one storm into hurricane season and it’s out for heavy trash.

Before I start screwing my corner walls to the floor frame for the foundation I built like yours, would it be necessary to put maybe four screws in each corner of my floor frame to keep it from moving out of square. Any help would be appreciated, also this question is open to anyone who has put one of these metal sheds together.........

Do you need the roof trim? I need to replace the roof of my shed as it was old and collapsed under snow. The old roof had the trim and debris was just caught in it all the time. I would prefer to not use the trim . WHat do you think? Nice video.
@casademayos
@casademayos 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! You need the trim to keep sharp edges of roof panels covered and to keep from flapping in the wind. This trim is slim but not sure how it would compare to your previous one. Maybe a 1x2 on the underside of the roof edge can work to keep in place and keep the top debris free? Good luck!

I followed your floor plan from the beginning to the end building that same shed but now I'm confused with how to anchor it down. if yours is anchored to your plywood can you share a link with me to where you purchased your anchor kit or screws. Any type of help would be appreciated......

How has this shed held up in the rain, any leaks? Nice video!
@casademayos
@casademayos 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching! It has been okay in the rain. We wanted to add some silicone/caulking on the roof where screws are and along the walls for extra sealing but we haven't gotten around to it yet, we've been procrastinating. That being said we do get some small leaks/drips from the roof but nothing major or pooling. Shortly after building, we had two huge storms with heavy winds about a month apart and even those were just minor leaks. I'm sure when we get to reseal it will be okay, hope this helps.

good vid. would be nice to see your cuts and quantity of materials. did you use full 4x8 sheets or cut the 8' side to 7'? I ask because i don't see the floor overlap since the shed is 10/14
@casademayos
@casademayos Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, we used the full 4x8 sheets which gave about 1.5 to 2 ft extra to the back of shed (since we pushed it forward). The plan was to build a quick access shelving/storage for garden tools and shovels, but we never got around to it 😬

I would need to modify the roof and sides. Where I live we get 125 inches of snow per season. Sometimes 2 to 3 feet in one storm.
@casademayos
@casademayos 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Wow that is a lot of snow, it would be interesting to see how you modify the roof and sides but I would recommend something stronger than this like a wooden shed.

We built a frame and used plywood for the floor back in November. My shed floor is moldy and I'm sure I need to replace it. It was painted with porch paint and we used vapor barrier in between the frame and plywood. What could have caused this?
@stevenboyer3520
@stevenboyer3520 Жыл бұрын
The vapor barrier needs to be between the ground and the structure instead of between the frame and floor. Basically you trapped the water between the barrier and your plywood right up against the wood where there'sno airflow to dry it out... kinda the same as keeping the wood in a puddle that never evaporates.

If you have trouble lining up holes especially for the bolts I found it pretty easy just to literally drill it to align it as long as it's close you can start it at a slight angle if you need to and when it drills through it's lined up and you just put the nut on, done deal

@stevenalexander5367

looks like a total of 5, 4x8? sheets. there are 4 full? sheets on the floor and the 1 was cut into 2, 2x8? halves. which begs a question...if the shed is 10x14, where is the 2' floor overlap? since he did not show the back of the shed, it may be there. Unless he cut the 8' side of the 4x8 down to 4x7.

I have the same problem with water coming in around door area an draining to the right or left inside but other than I silicone all screws on roof panels after a rain to see where what need sealing, the door area is not so bad but I would like to figure something to remedy that.
