United Airlines flight UA35 (Boeing 777-200ER) from San Francisco to Osaka has diverted to Los Angejes LAX, yersterday after losing a wheel from the left main gear.during takeoff The wheel landed from the sky in a paking area near SFO airport, no casualties on ground.

@@Pilot_SimonaTalking of storm avoidance. I once travelled on a small, twin turbine, commuter aircraft between Budapest and Chisinau. The turbulence was so bad part of the cabin interior was shaken loose and fell on a passenger. Everyone clapped and cheered when the pilots managed to land us safely. Except for me. I was still holding on tight to the armrests. 😁 I salute your skills. 👩✈👍

An ATR-72 of Tarom Airlines. Seems like steep bank so low and slow after takeoff in one of the most ungainly, least attractive airplanes flying, and one with not a very good safety record.

What are you even talking about? There’s nothing wrong with a climbing turn after departure. As long as its done within the aircraft’s limits, which Simona executed perfectly because she is following the flight directors.

I am not worried. I am focused on what I have to do and we have to take decisions split second. It’s is a thunderstorm all around us, and we have to find corridors to avoid otherwise it’s very dangerous
