This is heavenly. I actually feel safe here. My heart naturally slowed down, my breathing has deepened, my shoulders dropped into relaxation. I don't feel safe anywhere but this is very close. Thank you for this balm of peace and serenity in an ever increasing world of insanity, chaos, and violence. I wish I had a place like this nearby to find solace and comfort in. My mind is a good place to go with your help while I go deeper into this music.
@excelsior999
@excelsior999 Жыл бұрын
Camellia - You DO have "a place like this nearby to find solace and comfort in." Actually, it is closer than you think, If it were right in front of you, or just a short distance away, of course you could see it very easily. Even though it is to be found Elsewhere, it is much closer than "nearby." But where? There are certain Special Places which cannot be seen looking outward at the physical world which surrounds us. The Place that you are seeking, Camellia, can only be found by looking Inward, because it is in your Heart. That is why you cannot see it with your eyes. ("The kingdom of God is Within you." - Luke 17:21) Looking Inward is never easy though, because there are so many Things which can distract us in the Material World. We can surely get where we want to be, though, by asking The Holy Spirit of God to be our Heavenly Guide - to help us and to show us The Way. This we must ask for this in prayer. ("Ask and you shall receive." - John 16:24) Even with God's help and with an ardent desire to achieve our goal, there may be times when Our Desire for The Good wavers. What should we do then? ("Watch and pray, that you do enter into temptation, for the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." - Matthew 26:41) You must believe that with God's help you (and all of us) will make it through these difficult times, Camellia. Just remember the words of St. Paul: "There are three things that will last forever - Faith, Hope and Love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13

@@camelliainzurich1262 Hi Camellia - I like your response to my response. It was cogent, incisive and very touching. If I come across some advice or anything which I think will be helpful I make note of it and try to incorporate it into the routine of Daily Living. This is kind of a preface to saying that although I wouldn't label myself as a Stoic, there its a lot in the Stoic philosophy which could help just about anyone deal with whatever misfortune or even trauma that may come their way. Incredibly, Marcus Aurelius was not only the emperor of the Roman empire for many years; he was and is also the best known of the Stoic philosophers. The book titled "Meditations" contains his private thoughts and reflections, which were never meant for publication. When reading it we are, in essence, reading the diary of the Ruler of the known world, and we learn how he managed not only to remain sane, but to be at peace with himself. If you are familiar with Stoicism you know that one of its basic principles is that although we often we encounter situations or events which are unquestionably very challenging (or worse), no matter how bad it is (or appears to be), we (almost) always have some degree of control over how we view any particular negative occurrence. Of course it would be overly simplistic to say that whether something is either good or bad depends entirely on what we deem it to be (i.e., on how we view it), but there is usually SOME truth in that POV. Here's a suggestion which you might find to be helpful. Try imagining that there is a tiny chapel which exists in the middle of a beautiful forest. It is your own private chapel. Nobody else even knows about it, because it exists in your Heart. You can go there anytime you want - to be alone with your thoughts, or to talk wth Our Lord Jesus, or both. Although He the Divine Son of God (and as such, He IS God), nonetheless He chose to live this earthly life and He suffered both physically and internally. He knows and understands what you are going through. Therefore you will surely find comfort and solace knowing that no matter how difficult things become, you will always have at least one Friend - the best Friend anyone could want. If He were sitting next to you in that little chapel He might say to you (funny as it may seem), 'I know, Camillia. Been there; done that." May The Good Lord bless and protect you in Life's Journey.

My first year of grad school was spent at the University of Windsor, in Ontario, Canada. It had previously been Assumption College and my dorm was part of the school's original structure. A tunnel in the dorm's basement led directly to the church and chapel, which were open night and day, seven days a week for prayer and meditation. It was a dream come true for me. I lived on campus from September, 1976-April, 1977. I hope other folks were as fortunate as me to come across such a haven. I never saw anyone else there, ever, except for Confession on Saturday and of course, Sunday Mass. But the rest of the week I seemed to have been the only person visiting. Silence, prayer and meditation are, literally, lifesavers. Particularly to a stranger in a strange land. A belated thank you to the wonderful priests who kept it open. May God bless you all.

I gasped out loud with excitement after few seconds since I instantly loved this! I can't explain this feeling perfectly but this music speaks to my soul. I'm not religious, but spiritual. Monks singing is like an echo from the past, from darker times when people were desperate, afraid, seeking help and comfort from God. I can easily see old church filled with people (old and young, poor and rich etc) during a hard time, praying and begging while monks sing in candle light while it storms outside, pigeons observing people beneath them. There's something very nostalgic, heart breaking and yet beautiful in it.

@@jeffcena9577 Thank you for your beautiful words. I don't believe in God as religious way but in spiritual way. In religious way people believe God to be this huge Man who judges us, punishes us, who we should fear etc. (and people through centuries have done absolutely horrible things to another human beings in the name of God which is absolutely wrong). In spiritual way, to me, God is this unspeakable Unconditional Love and Light who never judges or punishes us, only loves since, well, He is unconditional love. To me God is energy in and all around us, who is equal to us and so on. I don't worship him because it feels wrong, breaking the bond of being equal. This is no offense towards anyone but just my own point of view since, like I've said, I'm not religious but spiritual and I will remain as such.

I usually never comment on youtube videos, but this time i will make an exception. I just lost my cat an hour ago. She was 13 years old, a stray I adopted off the street when I was 12. She was my best friend growing up. I have been living away from her for years now, as she wouldn't have been happy in a small flat in a city. She lived with my parents in the countryside all her life. Today, my mom texted me that the cat had a seizure and wasn't well, she was clearly in a lot of pain. Mom and dad took her to the vet to be put down. None of us wanted her to suffer any more than that. She had been battling an illness for a while, so we were kind of expecting this day to come soon, but it came so much sooner that I anticipated. That most devastating thing to me is that I couldn't be there for her last moments, since I am stuck hundreds of kilometers away from my family. I did receive pictures of her at the vet, and in a cardboard coffin decorated with pink roses mom has growing in her garden. My parents even built a little tombsone for her out of some bricks they had around, it's more than I coud've ever asked for. She now rests under a bed of forget-me-nots, it's something I decided on a long ago, that she would be buried under those flowers. I am from Finland, and the Finnish name of forget-me-nots, lemmikki, translates to literally mean "pet". Meaningful in both languages, a pet that will not be forgotten. Since I couldn't be there for my beloved pet's last moments, I am now spending my evening looking at pictures of her and listening to this track. It brings me peace.

This is pretty. I attend Mass at a monastery where the 6-7 brothers will sing or do chants at points in the Mass. At first, it annoyed me, as for me, silence is beautiful preparing for the Holy Sacrament, but have learned to love it.

i cant think of anything more lovely than this. i really ike the rainy ambiance with the faint chanting heard from just down the corridor...give me a warm, quiet room with a tall mug of coffee and something to study from my many books , and i would be quite content for many hours there

Working out to this in my basement. Crying. Knowing how far I’ve came from being fat, alone, broke. Now fit, financial stable, still alone but accepting of it. I have seen death every turn I made. But I have also experienced beauty in nature. To anybody feeling lost whenever you see this comment. Understand that you MUST USE your pain to form a drive to become the most self sufficient monster you can be. That is when blessings start coming to you. I was at a Late November Book sale at a Toronto College in Canada, and had time before it opened. I wandered into the Chapel. Totally awesome grey stone, high ceiling, with a choir loft at the front, above the lectern. Blew me away when the choir began practice for their Christmas singing. The atmosphere was electric. I stayed for the whole practice and missed the opening of the book sale. That was in the late 70's.
