Reverence to our elders has almost diminished in this day in age. I thank you for sharing this warning. I love the forest and river but I am fully aware that there are things in the forest we should fear and not take lightly.

My uncle told this to me and my cousins one evening, and it was getting late . We were throwing rocks in the water being disrespectful. "you kids don't be messing around with that water, the water babies will get ahold of you, drag you around and take you under" Mono Paiute

I used to hear them when i was a kid back in the early 2000s i always wondered what the sound was so i looked them up and came upon this video i didnt know people thought of it as a legend it would always happen at nightime and good thing i didnt go to the river and check it out because i thought of going a few times

If you ever had a trip though moab Utah. Up the green river. U can see the slide marks up from the river's bank's.

I just went fishing in a reservoir in Nevada noticed a bunch of baby handprints by the water absolutely! Was baby handprints and it's winter. Absolutely no babies are out there. Got to be true.

Yes. I'm sorry for answering late but yes in moab river. If u look carefully u can see slide marks in to the river.

Paiute Tribe lived near the lake they were a strong tribe and when a malformed or premature baby was born they would throw them in Pyramid Lake .

There are no pine trees, or willow trees, as told in this story, at Pyramid Lake, NV. Nothing but rocks, gravel, sage , and the lake. I never heard the water babies there. Been there quite a few times, as I now live 20 minutes away. I didn't finish listening to this long winded story. The End.

These stories I think personally are supposed to teach you a lesson. some of these stories are true but you may think they aren't but you need to take into consideration that they have a lesson. I am Navajo I most likely have no relation with this mans tribe but they still give a perspective of how you should see things.

Itz told by all tribes except by the Navajos. Tribes that lived near waters.
