Well, ... I guess the question helps determine aspects about yourself. It always confused me why people were so focused on the end of the world or the "End Times" or whatever, when for you, that's going to happen no matter what. Instead of listing all the different kinds of perspectives I've seen others employ, I'll just ask in case you guys read this. For me, it really doesn't matter if anyone else dies alongside me at that moment. The knowledge of your mortality is only as important as your acceptance of it. The knowledge of everyone around you having the same issue, again, is only as important to you as your own acceptance of it. LOL sincerely, "everything" is only as important as it is to you. To me personally it's EXTREMELY important, to genuinely live very truly as my next moment is my last. Accepting that isn't an easy thing. Even more important to me is making sure the people around me who I can influence are able to be happy and live as long as they can. "Why, if we're all mortal?" Well because no matter what I believe, no matter what gets me through the day, these people need the freedom and hope to live and believe what they choose, just as you. I find comfort in certain things, but it's unfair of me to impose that on others. "We're all gonna die, Fu[< everything you can!" "We're all gonna die, why wait" "We're all gonna die, I MUST MAKE IT HAPPEN" "We're all gonna die, but it'll be better" every one of those are cyclical questions and answers. The very fact that "what happens after we die" remains a mystery implies to me that it's a question without an answer, ...but unlike Jeopardy, inverting it doesn't produce a result. Instead, it's an inevitability. So, perhaps sadly, perhaps revelatory, perhaps joyful... it's an answer without a question. That doesn't mean the asking is meaningless, because your frame of reference is always as much of yourself as you're willing to acknowledge. Perhaps your life is the question. Perhaps all lives and all experience is the question. Perhaps I'm drunk on a Wednesday afternoon, or perhaps I'm a dead sober philosophy professor, or perhaps I'm very ill and about to die and have had some time to think about it. Perhaps all three? Perhaps you've read this far on accident. And, just perhaps, you might want to ask yourself a real question that has a real answer. An answer for right now. "What does my life mean, to me?"

This movie was a great examination of the human condition. We see all 5 responses to grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance Denial - The housekeeper. The cop who arrested Dodge and Penny Anger - The rioters Bargaining - Spec and his fellow survivalists Depression - Dodge. The truck driver (and others) who hired a hit man to kill him before the world ended Acceptance - The Frenzy's restaurant staff. The people at the seashore. The newscasters. Later, Dodge I really enjoyed this movie. It is a great love story despite the depressing setting. For anybody for whom this gives any sort of anxiety: humans actually wouldn't die to an extinction level asteroid. I mean, a lot would, but humanity wouldn't. It would take a planet sized object colliding with us to ruin us completely. Enough to stir the planet up to its core and turn it to a giant ball of fire. The impact (as well as the secondary impacts from the debris) would be pretty bad, but humans have all of the qualities of our ancestors before that survived, except we're a lot smarter. >we can get by on minimal food that we can grow, as well as other survivors >we can live under ground >we can filter our water relatively effectively with rudimentary means It won't be pretty and most of us would probably die, but an incredibly healthy number would remain. I'd say 1 or 2 billion of the population at the time of this writing (keep in mind, the vast majority of the losses would not be from the impact, but from the harsh environment that comes afterwards). I'm taking into consideration the worst case scenario here, too. If there's no acid rain - which there very well may not be - and for whatever reason other things happen to be more favorable (the temperature doesn't go as cold, the sun comes back sooner than expected, it hits in a favorable spot etc) then we may even keep well over half of our population. Anyway, your best chance will be to just avoid the impact zone lol. Stock up on dry dog and cat food and the like and prepare for a very cold time. Keep in mind the number "6 years". That's about the longest you can expect the sun to be hidden behind soot and dust in the sky. Depending on all the factors, it could be as soon as 2 or 3 years. Once the sun returns, so to with it does life. Statistically, you're probably screwed (though to be fair, if you're young and healthy you have a significantly higher chance) but don't think there's not a fighting chance for everyone!

If they included a “Quantum Immortality” twist, they would wake up in versions of themselves very identical to themselves in another universe. Their consciousness would have merged with the near-identical versions of themselves having almost the same memories as they did on the destroyed Earth except for their death. Quantum immortality is a very real theory. They may have met each other in slightly different circumstances but would have found each other nevertheless, and their love would have lived on. They would however experience the “Mandela Effect” however as on the surviving Earth everything although near-identical, would be slightly different such as logo changes, or the names of books, or shows, or they may not even notice. That would be a good twist.

In one Universe the cat died, in another the cat lives as the poison never released,and in another the cat survived the poisoning after it releases, and etc. it goes on ad infinitum with every possibility. Just think based on this theory in one universe you may have made the exact same comment but miss spelled a word by one letter.

When a astroid is about to hit a hard object *which is earth* 1st: there is a following sound by a astroid entenring the ozone layer. 2nd: the following bang. 3rd: Bright light shines (like a nuke but weaker) 4th: super strong winds blows. 5th: the force applied to the crust layer and other layers of earth will start shifting dramaticly causing huge earth quakes and you either way get evaporated or you get crushed by a huge tsunami wave or you get crushed by lots of debri.

I wonder what the average human would mostlikely be inclined to do if something like this were to happen for real. Either: The peaceful calming route of being with loved ones? Or The Route of Submitting to carnal desires and spend it in crime and havock. That would be a really good reflection of what humans are at their core.

@the riddler we are all messed up in the head. Some are just more scared of divine repercussions so id say itll be a mix. People with no kids will most lilely do some crazy shit like murdering and raping. Its shouldnt come as a surpise that people have crazy desires. Weve all seen what the porn industry tries to depict as normal, and we do enjoy our fair share of slasher and fianl destination style movies. Fiction will become reality. Those with kids will most likely want to spend more time with their loved ones tho

Interesting movie about death and how people deal with its inevitability. The group that has got it together are the people that are being baptized, they are not focused on death being the complete end of existence, but looking beyond the termination of physical existence and looking to the afterlife and putting their stakes in it. We've all heard of the need to be physically fit, they are looking to be spiritually fit.

Except not. That's why they waited till now. They're still trying to make a deal to get out of the regret of not thinking about it before. It's no different than all the other people trying drugs and just having as much sex as they can. They're doing the stuff they regret not doing more of before, only the "thing" that they're doing, is religion.

Movie title is Seeking A Friend For The End of the World starring Steve Carell, Kiera Knightley & a host of others? Cool. Added to my list Reminded me of another movie called These Last Hours or something like that. That one hit me hard. Funny enough, I watched Moonfall (Halle Berry & co) just a few days ago. Really felt sorry for the people on that earth. And I thought the people of the earth in the movie 2012 (John Cusack, Chinwetel Ejiofor & a host of others) had it really bad. Interesting movie review. YOU'RE AWESOME! BEST REGARDS!

I've always wondered if something on a galactic scale like an asteriod, solar flare, or near planet collision would be painful in the final moments. Like would one evaporate without ever feeling it, would it just be a slow excruciating burn, would it be like an Earthquake where you fall forever after the ground disappears, or would it be like getting depressurized?
@chriz9959
@chriz9959 4 ай бұрын
as always, it depends on the size of the meteorite. the meteorite that wiped out the dinosaurs, for example, had a diameter of 10-15 km and left a crater about 300 km in diameter. It struck at the enormous speed of 20 to 40 kilometers per second (20 km/s is 72,000 km/h) at a relatively shallow angle - less than 45 degrees. The meteorite and part of the Earth's crust vaporized almost completely within a second of the impact. Depending on the mass and speed of the meteorite, the energy released was probably equivalent to the explosive force of 100 to 200 million atomic bombs of the "Little Boy" type - the atomic bomb that destroyed Hiroshima in 1945. Based on this, it is possible to calculate the death zone and the way in which you die on impact and at what distance. within the death zone, you probably won't feel a thing and will literally be vaporized within miliseconds.
