My first experience in an abusive/domestic violent relationship. At the time I did not know it was considered domestic violence.

I enjoyed your story. Thank you for not cursing! It was horrible that he had you committed....ugh. I was in an abusive marriage for 12 years (from 1980 to 1993). I thought I would never get out of it, but i did with my 3 children, thank God. There is nothing like peace in your life. Glad you are okay now.

I learned my lessons on this subject. even family will take advantage of you .no more nice guy for me.

susan daye nooo lie! I distance myself once I feel like someone is taking advantage of me. Just so I protect and care for myself over anyone.

I would have told those military officials.. He would have gotten in trouble., he would have paid for that. I'm a domestic violence advocate. I'm glad you are safe...when he called on you I would have made a seen and reported him to the military base.

I befriended a guyanese girl at the casino. Although her ex is not physically abusive in public, he stands over her seat with his hands firmly behind her chair suggesting that he won't allow her to get up or talk to anyone. Pathetic!

thanks for sharing your story. My fiance hurts me badly. He has broken my bones before. He wont let me go. Last timeI tried to leave he threw me across the kitchen table, then grabbed a knife and put it to my throat and said if I leave he'd stab me in the chest and put my body in a cement block. How do i get away and with my life?

EgyptianGirlzCurlz I would first say get strategic and make sure he doesn’t know your future plans. That probably would trigger him. I also advocate for having a therapist and other helpful resources that will help you safely move on with your life. Once you feel safe away from him I think that would help you to clear your mind and start to heal and have faith for much better and all you deserve. My email is irsa319@gmail.com. Sometimes women leave everything behind with just the clothes on their back (try to at least have your cell phone) and start over entirely. If he's that bad you have call the police and file a restraining order seriously you cant be in that situation forever he will kill you...
