Thankyou for sharing this. My son came down with transverse myelitis on the 29th Dec 2022 and is currently is Stoke manderville spinal unit hospital. He still has complete paralysis it’s been 8 weeks. Prey he makes as good as recovery as you someday, he is just 12 and it came on suddenly from nowhere.

Thanks for your story. I had Transverse Myelitis in 2010 when I was 51. I was watching your video and I was getting a bit mad because you were in Hospital for 5 days or so and you hadn't mentioned Steroids. I knew from my case that they gave me Steroids the moment I got to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. This helped take me from paralyzed below the waist to walking in 5 days. Although the first Hospital did waist 2 days before they diagnosed it for me. Even sent me home the first night. Than had to bring me back in an Ambulance the next night when I lost the use of my legs. Glad you recovered and can walk. Recovery for this varies from person to person. We are both lucky that we can walk again.

Transverse myelitis is horrible , so pleased to hear how well you have done. I was struck with it in 2010 and all these years later still suffering the consequences. I can walk very short distances, the walking through treacle bit is so real, I always say it’s like i’m wading through mud! even though I had great determination my bladder has not recovered very well, but we cope with what we are left with. So pleased you have come through and not suffering too much now x

My prayers are with you. While you should never close the door on progress in medicine you are doing the right thing in working with what you have. Exercise can do a lot of things and is so underrated. It is good that you're staying active and on top of the blogs. My mother had Parkinson's and did little to make the best of a bad situation. She would have been more motile if she exercised and did more; whether she would have lived longer is unknown. I'm glad you're doing so much better. The best of luck to you!

Hi, I was diagnosed with transverse myelitis 5 years ago. My onset was similar but much quicker than yours. I got out of my chair after watching TV late one nigh with my wife and I noticed a slight inbalance in my walking. I wasn't sure what it was and proceeded to walk about the bedrooom for about an hour getting worse and worse as time went on. I woke my wife up while I was holding onto the walls for balance and when I got to the hospital, my legs gave out. The nurces said I looked like a new born baby deer stumblinf around. The res of my story is similar to yours. I can walk with some pain and weakness. I have a spial stimulator and a pain pump with directed morphine for pain while walking and sitting (especially while sitting).. And now, more than previously, my mental state is dark. Vey dark. I'm hoping someone can write about the mental state to possibly help me....
