I used to work for STP at one point - they did a lot of testing and had a scientist on staff. We would run comparisons of fuel with and without the additives. You really could see a difference. We’d also analyze competitive products. One competitive product was just mineral oil. If you stick with Chevron, Valvoline, and other similar products - they are very similar in performance.

This piston and valve are cleaned manually. I have used liqui moly fuel additive in my car result was impressive.

Amazing stuff it also cured my bald head.

The after treatment surface seems manually cleaned, lots of surface marks indicating manual cleaning.

This stuff works as well as their STP GDI injector cleaner together. Helped clear out the fiel injectors really well with a quarter tank of gas.

How did you manage to see the underside of the valves through the spark plug hole. STP is truly magic. It also puts scotchbrite marks on the piston crowns etc., that we also wouldn’t see with your endoscope.

I used it on my 2009 elantra. Get better gas mileage used to get 22 mpg now i get around 27 mpg and engine seems to run smoother. It doesn't hesitate anymore on cold winters starts.

Stp will also restore your old paint job too, it works for everything

I've used Marvel Mystery oil for many years with great results. Don't put more than recommended in the gas because it can potently damage things. It is also cheap and have noticed many times, especially after buying a used vehicle the quieting of the engines including ticking noises. I also like the idea of slowly keeping things clean over time instead stead of too fast to where damage can be caused by too much debris moving about, and this I what Marvel Mystery Oil does over time.

My 03 Camry stalls after starting. I added one bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner (white bottle) to the gas tank and kept the engine running for 10 minutes by pressing on the gas pedal, problem was fixed. I was really impressed.

I used stp many years ago and it's good stuff in a 74 ford Ltd tail.pipe was black before all the carbon build up was clean out then the tail pipe was white even in the winter time with snow on the ground 👍👍

I gave up on Techron, I put this into an older Honda with 104K Miles, it ran ok, 2004 Honda 2.4, my son's car, I put the whole can in the tank. We changed the oil and it sounds better, runs better, and MPG on the HWY came back up to 33MPG. I did the same thing in my wife's 2004 Honda SI 100K miles, except I did not tell her. After a week she asked me if I had done something to her car, it running real quiet, and it roars when she gets on it to merge on the freeway. Also she is back to 25mpg, I listened to the injectors they were chattery before, big difference now. I am a believer now.

Nate I think the build up is from excess oil getting past the worn intake valve seals. A common problem on an engine that has seen a lot of years and miles.

Wow, it worked so well, it put marks on everything like a scotch-brite pad. It's almost like you manually cleaned it and then said it was the magic snake oil

In Europe, we have 95 unleaded with cleaning additive inside the fuel already. Its maybe 5-7% expencier but it helps with EFI engines.

years ago we used to install TEST TUBES on cars with high carbon,why, because when we went to catalytic converters polluting them was easy,all of these products render the metals in the converter useless,we used to put chemicals in the tanks for customers,let them drive their vehicles for two weeks,tell them lots of leisure time on the highway,vary speeds,this worked as the valves and tops of the pistons cleaned up pretty good,,we had a couple of front wheel drive cars blow headgaskets during some of the cleans and when we lifted the heads off,it was amazing,the carbon biproducts have to be expelled,sometimes we had to replace mufflers due to clogs and the smell was intense,further back in time,in the 60's and early 70's,we did what was called major tuneups ,this involved pulling the heads ,cleaning the tops of the pistons,and grinding the heads after cleaning ,this restores compression and valve sealing,those are the facts,that compression tester is everything,it tells the tale

How many miles were on that car before you used this product? I was impressed by the fuel injector cleaning, even if it doesn't have much effect on the valves. I guess we have to get used to DGI engines they are becoming the standard today..

This fuel injector... Some how very new indeed.

I'm not sure how a fuel additive can clean intake valves on a DGI engine when fuel does not have contact with the intake valves. That is the reason DGI engines have a carbon problem in the first place.

Try the STP on the valves of the GDI car you have tested a couple other cleaners on. You’ll have to squirt it in the intake with a windex bottle. See if the STP does better than Seafoam it whatever.

I would like to see amsoil PI cleaner how well they clean the pistons and valves. You did have a video on the injector but that was all. Also, the new PI red bottle, not the clear bottle one. (Not talking about upper lubricant. Tho, you can do a test on upper lubricant too. Shrug.)

Wow amazing product, first time I can see fuel additive which make round dirt scratches on piston. How did U get this debris on piston? of course after mechanical cleaning and later U put photo of "clean" head. Is this product location? pooor sorry

Pull the vacuum to the booster and start the engine it will idle high then pour about a third of the bottle in and that will really help then put the rest in the tank

Plain water cleans valve stems and piston crowns. And... that sort of cleaning is almost always completely redundant. Valueless.

STP is a very good product.. Their oil is very very good in protection.. No matter what... When you use STP oil.. Inside thr engine will be very clean... No deposit.. Clean like new engine.. I am a fanatic STP user.. The best is STP..

We tested FFX and others for similar results, without going into the inside of the engine though (the additive is poured directly into the gas tank). I wonder if there's a way we could use the same liquid for the same purpose.

Guys, if you want a nice hack, only if you are ghetto cleaning the valves, the intake valve cleaner, those you put in your gas tank, are awesome cleaners if you use them with a brush. They are odorless too, super strong stuff.

I have three questions: 1) If this is a GDI engine, how can a fuel additive clean something upstream of the point of fuel injection? 2) How can a borescope that is hanging at the end of a flexible cable look upward to see the faces of the valves? 3) How can a chemical cleaner score the carbon on the piston tops with scrubbing brush lines?

I just used stp injector cleaner. Car stalled and fuel line disconected because of the vibrations. Mechanic tells me all injectors are blocked and ruined. Need to change them. What do you say about that?

Seeing the pictures my thought is this: If someone had a really dirty engine, And continued to use a bottle of that at every fill up over maybe a 4 to 6 month period I think it would eventually truly clean out almost all the carbon deposits. I have searched and have yet to find a long term test of the stuff.

So question, I read online that if you add the additive to only a couple of gallons of gas rather than the recommended amount of gas and then drive it hard for 30 mins it's supposed to clean it much better since it's less diluted. What do you think, could this work or harm anything.. I just feel a little bottle compared to a ton of gas wouldnt have much effect. Thoughts ANYONE. Please and thank you

If your injectors are not clogged up and you use this can it then clog your injectors ? And also I would use the chevron complete the best one u can get, used it a few times a year 5times or less and my fuel pump looked like it was sitting in acid when we pulled it out my fuel injectors all were clogged so bad fuel wasn't even coming out of them I replaced the fuel pump the whole unit and the injectors as well haven't used chevron cleaner or the gas since I check my car every year everything is good haven't had any problems since I stayed away from chevron injectors fuel cleaner I also stopped putting in chevron gas as well my car has been better ever since

It would be interesting to see if you would use that regularly example 6 times a year. How clean the engine would be then.
