There was also a parody of this song, and it was done by a Chicago DJ named Steve Dahl, the guy who hosted the “Disco Demolition” in Komisky Park later that year where millions of fans destroyed their disco records and broke into a riot during a White Sox game and forced to cancelled the game due to the ongoing riots. It was called “Do You Think I’m Disco” which was an anti-protest song to put an end disco. Let’s listen. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orJ2gKh92sjNqok.html

before the 60s there was no birth control pill. after 1980 there was aids. so in the 70s, women didnt have to worry about pregnancy or aids. 70s america was very open , largely for those reasons.

I was 18 or 19 when this came out. Bars were packed on weekends(meat markets), huge parties at peoples homes, drinking age in most places was 19 and DUI laws much more lax. Yeah it was the party decade for sure. Amazing I survived because I was right in there with it during my college years.

Always love generalizations from people. Lighten up. Now a days everyone is poisened by sugar
@ice-iu3vv
@ice-iu3vv 3 жыл бұрын
@@deeg8849 clarify please, you sound incoherent. i wasnt generalizing, those are facts you can check out. from 1964-81 america was more promiscuous than at any other time in its history, and the reasons are fairly plain. then we get to lighten up. about what ? seems like youre the one who needs to. and then the irrelevant statement about sugar. dont reply to youtube comments when youre this drunk, stoned, or whatever else is causing your thorough absence of sense. go away now.
@deeg8849
@deeg8849 3 жыл бұрын
@@ice-iu3vv says the guy who clearly thinks women and the pill brought down society. The pill put women on equal footing in that they (like men) didn’t have to worry about the consequences of an unplanned pregnancy if they got pregnant from sex. You watch a video from the disco era and blame women and the pill for AIDS as if they are bringing down society. You likely also think everything was super duper before the pill but there’s a dark history that women suffered who had an unplanned pregnancy. Some were forced to marry and be miserable, many were single mothers and outcasts not only in the community but their families, many children were orphaned and grew up abused in state homes or the foster care system and some women suffered horribly because they aborted their child. I wasn’t drunk when I replied but I do agree that I wasn’t entirely clear. So let me be clear now. Your generalization of women, taking the pill, a lack of morals and the bringer of aids is wrong and I thought I’d exercise my right to say so. You may not agree and that is your right. Rather then blame women, the pill and our collective sexual needs past or present, I think there is a more pressing enemy causing real harm - corporations. AIDS is a tragedy, particularly its impact on our gay brothers, but its impact dwarfs the toll of heart disease that corporations have caused since 1980 with all the added sugar (I got to my point). They have been and continue to knowingly poison the masses causing more death, obesity, diabetes and other health suffering. They go unpunished but you would rather direct your frustration at people having sex or a woman being responsible for her own body by taking the pill. Remember, I’m just responding to your original comment. I came to listen to the reaction and hear a song I hadn’t heard in a while. Your comment was so offside in my view because in my experience it’s important to check those who try to dictate how men and women govern their bodies due to their own warped views of how good things were beforehand when most had no clue (cause they weren’t alive) but their pastor told them so. Enjoy the song and the reaction. Then direct your anger to a real matter bringing harm to society. Our paths have crossed and likely never will again. I truly wish you well but try not to attack others when engaged in a dialogue. Pointing out that I wasn’t clear was correct, calling me names and judging my character because of it was wrong and I hope you recognize that now and do better hence forth Cheers
@ice-iu3vv
@ice-iu3vv 3 жыл бұрын
@@deeg8849 look, watch some documentaries about the 60s and 70s, these facts about american promiscuity are not my opinions, or opinions of any kind, they are facts, deny them if you wish. second, you come to the asinine conclusion that im judging women and persecute me for complete nonsense. half and jai asked what the 70s were like, and what sexuality was like, i answered them correctly and honestly. "women and the pill brought down society"?? you are so quick to blame others for your own feelings and problems its scary. i dont think anything of the kind. you are correct about corporations, but that is so very beside the point of this particular discussion that you seem completely unhinged. I "attack others when engaging in dialogue"? talk about projection. im going to ask you not to respond anymore. you claim you only responding, not insulting, whatever you have started a fight here and i want you away from me and my life please.

Hey guys, you are tapping a huge market here. I know there are a lot of folks my age (45) who enjoy seeing the younger folks discover (or rediscover) and appreciate older music. There is endless content. A lot of folks search by artist, I found you guys by searching "Family Guy Reaction". Rod Stewart had a pretty big audience but nothing like a Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin (both highly recommended). Anyway, I really enjoy you two. I can still remember when he 1st performer this song, it was on a UNICEF special hosted by the BeeGees, Earth Wind And Fire was on it, other singers and Rod. The singers were going to donate I think the proceeds of their songs to UNICEF. I remember other singers and groups donated their older songs proceeds, but Rod first performed this song on that special and donated this songs proceedings. It was before it hit the radio and it became a hit! I remember he danced the same way and they filmed above just above his waistline (you could STILL tell what his moves were). The youngsters in the audience were enjoying it and the adults seemed shocked, sat still in their seats. I think the BeeGees we're annoyed with him for singing it and when they sang the finale of the show, Put A Little Love In Your Heart, Barry seemed like he didn't want to share the mic with Rod! But I remember it being 1st sung on that show and all my classmates talking about it the next day!!!

Back in the day, our TV was a giant piece of furniture almost the length of a couch. Built in speakers, top right opened up revealing the record player which included an adapter to play the 45 rpm speed single records and removing it you can play the 12inch 33 1/3 rpm speed album. The 78 rpms were obsolete as that some 1950's junk. Top left would reveal the 8 track player and if you had the. Newer model, it had cassette. TV was a 15 inch black and white unless you had the deluxe model which was in color. The rabbit ears antenna often covered in tin foil to better enhance reception. My neighbor would bring in a home brew antenna he stuck on the side of the house made out of a hubcap from a 1973 Lincoln. It also had AM, FM, SW1 and SW2 which were shortwave bands to get stations beyond the area you resided but required extra items like an antenna as tall as a tree attached to the side of your house. And the entire unit was not cheap.

We had no remote and had antenna. Our TV (we only had one) was like a cabinet that sat on the ground, so it was like furniture. We had 3 channels.

Awww YEA, THIS was 1 of those songs that we ALL used to play when we got 'Her' alone LMBO.. TRYING as best we could to have our 1st 'Exploration' with our 'Lady'.. This song right here 'Opened The Door' so-to-speak so we didn't have to do much 'Talking' LMBO. If she stayed and liked it you would know pretty damn quick, because EVERYBODY ST8 KNEW that when you play 'This Right Here' what the 'Intentions Were' LMBO!! PEACE!!
