"Advise them to find alternative sleeping arrangements and notify the relevant authorities" This is such a cold and heartless sentiment by the SMRT president. Instead of trying to help these people with his position of power and setting a precedence for his staff to be kind, he is speaking of them like they are some issue that needs to be disposed of. Very nasty and disappointing leader.

Guys our ministers aren’t overpaid, I just spoke to a North American who told me that their incomes tax is 40% monthly , they change their president n leaders too often n their ministers become millionaires upon stepping down, you pay peanuts, the people in power can find other means to get rich. Our ministers salaries r more transparent n sustainable. A Ceo n CFO of a medium sized investment firm can earn between 90,000 to 120,000 sing dollars , n they don’t have to bear the burden of losing their privacy n being publicably criticized . It’s not easy to find ministers who can sacrifice n stay like our ministers can.

LTA as the authority and client of these works should not only just impose fines and give warnings to the contractors - something is very wrong when the works tender is won and then these same contractors are struggling to provide decent welfare for their employees / workers. It is good to say there is a designated rest area - but if the workers do not want to use, there could be other underlying problems. Imposing fines and given warnings do not help these workers directly at all. If not for the pandemic would the conditions of dorms be paid attention to? Do we take pride as a developed nation with first class systems and facilities and under the same breath treat these workers as such?

@@angxiang3186 I am not emotional but reasonable; nevertheless, if a person is purely utilitarian in matters of society and family, their society in time will be heartless. There must always be a human dimension and understanding to people on their level, empathy. That is very important when dealing with issues that are social in nature. Look deeper into the issues surrounding rough sleepers; also, our treatment of workers, especially foreign ones leaves a lot to be desired too. I wouldn't call dormitory living anything to brag about and let us not forget how COVID ran amok through their populace at the beginning and required reform. Reform was a response to our society finally acknowledging there is a problem and there is many to still be addressed.

Overworked and underpaid ...the most common lament of Singapore blue collar, noting that the blue collar is actually made up of many potentially white collar...maybe too much bluing lol...sleeping on floors is actually common because of the much needed rest working 6 days....especially among security officers...more than 12 hours of having to be alert is no joke, would you rather see them sleeping while standing, or nodding off while on duty? Anyway if you want to reduce accidents at the workplace, safety first also implies getting a good satisfying rest so that you can be alert and sharp, mindful and wakeful. For so long we question what the public servants at the office are doing when they cannot fathom what makes a "good" work environment...Time for affirmative actions....make a country where your small voice is heard, create genuine happiness by being kind and trusting rather than expect cooperation by submitting your will, and obsequious behaviour just to gain favour

One of the essence of Singapore as a Tourist Attraction is a Garden City. How can a Garden City have homeless sleeping rough??? This act damages our future of Singapore. Hope all policemen and social agents act to response; it is to protect our future Singapore.
