🗒️ Description:
November 19, 2023: AUSTRALIA DEFEATED INDIA in the ICC MEN'S CRICKET WORLD CUP FINAL of 2023 edition in NARENDRA MODI STADIUM of AHMEDABAD, INDIA. TRAVIS HEAD scored a commanding CENTURY to take his team to the coveted WORLD CUP TROPHY, accompanied by MARNUS LABUSCHAGNE and GLENN MAXWELL. Although INDIAN CRICKET TEAM aka ICT started bowling well with their PACE DUO- JASPRIT BUMRAH & MOHD. SHAMI but eventually they couldn't capitalise the start they got. SAD & TEARFUL FACES OF INDIAN CRICKETERS including ROHIT SHARMA, VIRAT KOHLI, MOHD. SIRAJ, KL RAHUL are still vivid in the memories of every CRICKET FANS out there. However, within 4 days of completion of the ODI WORLD CUP 2023, both the teams took on each other in T20i SERIES IN INDIA. Isn't it bit exaggerated or ODI CRICKET IS REALLY DEAD & as T20 CRICKET IS THE FUTURE, that's why both BCCI and AUSTRALIAN CRICKET BOARD trying to MAXIMIZE THEIR REVENUE from this SHORTER FORMAT OF THE GAME? Well, we definitely can't PREDICT THE FUTURE OF THE CRICKET, HOW CAN IT GLOBALIZE etc. but looking at the money generated by 2023 WORLD CUP has given the CRICKET LOVERS some much-needed hope. Due to prominence of CRICKET FRANCHISE LEAGUES such as INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE (IPL), PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE (PSL), BIG BASH LEAGUE (BBL), THE HUNDRED, CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE (CPL) of WEST INDIES, SOUTH AFRICA T20 LEAGUE (SA 20), LANKAN PREMIER LEAGUE (LPL) of SRI LANKA, GLOBAL T20 CANADA, BANGLADESH PREMIER LEAGUE (BPL) and even MAJOR LEAGUE CRICKET of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, so many players are avoiding this particular ONE DAY INTERNATIONALS format. The likes of QUINTON DE KOCK, BEN STOKES have already retired from this format, and the trend will be followed by players to come. But, looking at BRIGHTER SIDE OF THE STORY, ODI WORLD CUP STILL GENERATES MORE MONEY THAN ANY OTHER FORMAT OR ANY OTHER TOURNAMENT. Recently, DISNEY PLUS HOTSTAR made billion dollar deal with ICC until 2027 and this at least proves the possible occurrence of 2027 ICC WORLD CUP. But, there are some challenges too. What are those challenges anyway? Well, join me in this video to learn more about it.

Tbf, BCCI's share is justified since India contributes more than 80% of the total revenue. Taking half the money that you're generating is not that bad, while other cricket boards are letting the game wasted by simply not doing anything substantial.

@@Ashtrek_yt No , it isn't. What is BCCI doing with it? Only developing Indian Cricket. That money is for Cricket as a sport. No one outside Indian subcontinent takes cricket seriously because it's played by a handful of Nations. You need sport to be developed at a global level to be taken seriously. There have been few good KZfaq videos talkobg about this with good arguments of how bcci has ruined cricket as a whole.

@@Ashtrek_yt The BCCI's obsession with creating and redistributing profit to themselves is not needed. It just results in this nonsensical farce of a 10 team WC. I'd rather world cups make less money but have more teams. The BCCI are at the root cause of keeping cricket an elitist sport.

@@mrrattrap1488 I know there has been some videos published. Thing is, (no offense to them whatsoever) they told you one side of the story, that's the problem. The power BCCI got today, Australia and England had that in '80s &' 90s. But, cricket still grew that time rapidly. Why? Because, every other cricket boards wanted their team to grow properly. Now, coming back to present, cricket boards of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies have killing themselves due to corruption, Bangladesh have no proper grassroot development plan; and in SENA countries cricket never was the most popular sport. Now, India got so much ahead of them, that it seems like India is destroying cricket. Even, ICC only care about their money only. Reality is, had all the other boards not been so incompetent, things would have been different. Now, from the monetary perspective, all cricket playing nations (including developing nations and they will be getting more money because of BCCI's mammoth broadcasting deals, otherwise it wouldn't have been possible) will be earning significantly more than the previous cycle of revenue distribution, but no test - playing country have given up any percentage of share for the developing cricket in associate nations. Why should BCCI only do that? In fact, BCCI is the only cricket board to help other cricketing nations (Afghanistan and Nepal). And, developing nations need to level up their game, because they are nowhere near International level. Also, did you know, Dalmiya, former president of BCCI, in fact, started Champions Trophy to be hosted in developing nations to fund those nations, but it was ICC who shifted the tournament away from those nations to fill their own pockets. Tbh, I researched about this topic a few months ago, scripting and editing was done, but never published, lol... So, imo, BCCI is definitely a capitalist business organization, but it's not destroying cricket. Because, in 10/20 years, you'd prefer watching an IPL game much more rather than watching SL WI BAN matches. It's what people want, and BCCI is doing what we want.
@ark7054
@ark7054 6 ай бұрын
That's bcoz Indian fans contribute the most. BCCI has no business promoting cricket in other nations. That's the job of ICC. BCCI isn't even developing proper cricket environment here in India, forget about outside India. Many people they don't get any opportunity. They are spending more on fancy setup more than the spot itself.

In think. There should be franchise cricket (t20 or t10 but t10 is blind slogging so i think t20 is better) for 7-8 months IPL, bbl, psl, sa20 etc . Leagues played in different countries including champions league in those 7-8 months best teams from each league will compete here .But the problem here is sometimes same set of players are present in top teams of different league. Thats why i think they should schedule and conduct leagues at same time (like premier league, laliga etc) so that players don't overlapse new players will get chance to showcase their talent in different leagues and cricket will grow. And bilaterals should be removed only test cricket should be done as bilateral. Odi and t20i should be only played during world cup qualifier or any other icc tournament qualifiers. ❤

If cricket should get a rebirth, BCCI, Australia board and england board should help other countries to improve cricket. Big countries like Brazil, Indonesia, japan teams have to be better in cricket and the big three have to help them. The biggest boost for cricket would be the inclusion of a strong Chinese team, They still have time and they can rebound greatly in next ten years. If they took good efforts. Demise of ODI's is simply inevitable. I think 2027 wc will the last ODI wc. With increasing no. Of teams in t20 wc and its action packed nature It will surely beat ODI wc revenue. The main challenge for ODI is its length very less people have time to watch a match for 8 hours.before internet people don't have lot of entertainment options hence cricket became so big in india, nowadays cricket is competing with KZfaq videos,Netflix shows , insta reels. ODI format is any day better than the 'HIT & GIGGLE' T20 format! T20 is for kids! It takes strategy and playing well over long periods of time to win ODIs, while T20 is just a slog fest these days with bowlers being used as bowling machines. Although ODI rules, pitches need to make sure it's a fair competition between the bat and ball. Less scores, less fours and sixes are ok, but the competition needs to be fair between the bat and ball. Overall, the best format is test format. Ask any cricketer which format they hold in the highest regard.. it's always the test format which really tests a player's technique and temperament over 5 days. Bowlers and batsmen have an equal opportunity to shine in this format.

The death of cricket is kinda complicated stuff because it's probably only such a game that has 3 different formats and each format has a fanbase per se. Like, whoever likes to watch Test Cricket, will not likely watch T20 cricket or franchise leagues that much and vice versa. Plus, most of the International cricket matches are friendlies, so that doesn't excite fans. So, it's hard to judge cricket's actual fanbase unless you are in a competitive format.

No, you slightly misunderstood my statement. I'm not saying that cricket will die, it's gonna stay and it'll just get bigger. No major sports will ever die, be it baseball, be it basketball or tennis (unless we live in a dystopia). Cricket has as least 3 different formats - which is kinda funny if you compare it with other sports, but we're used to it. Thing is, the cricket we've seen earlier, will be completely different from the cricket 5/6 years later down the road. T20 cricket will be the main format, franchise leagues will dominate; in fact, ODI world cup, which is the pinnacle of the game, is in danger. WC of 50 overs needs implement Views depends on temperature on field As we see, after 10 same test cricket usually start on pitch so if team play 15 over power play in break and continue process progress would be function 5 over power play 1-10 team should have right either they need from 1-5 or 5-10. 5 over power play after 25th over 5 over power play after 40th over This way up and down and aggressive cricket maybe expected and will be beneficial for views

What if high scoring matches were rare, then you'd love to see some high-scoring, right? Now, think about broader perspective. We are already viewers of the game, but how'd you attract new fans? Obviously T20 type cricket. They are the primary consumers. And, one of biggest problem with low scoring matches are, it gets finished way before stipulated time. Don't get rid ODIs just get rid of ODI World Cup. Now i know you will what kind of statement is this. Listen, i think ICC must revive ODI Super league, but as i said it earlier get rid of ODI World Cup, so this time it should be for the qualification of Champions Trophy. It should be the ultimate ODI championship happening every two years. Every team must play 8 ODI series 4 home and four away in two years cycle 3 ODI series so it will be 3 × 8 = 24. That means 24 ODIs in two years and 12 ODIs in a year and that can be fit Based on league table top 7 countries will qualify for Champions Trophy, eighth nation will be host nation. In World Cup i think up to 20 to 24 teams must play from around the world and from each continent and it is possible only in T20 format. So world cup in T20 format, Champions for ODI with eight teams only and WTC off course for test is th only solution.

The situation is a bit tricky to understand. The main problem of cricket is it's diversity; there are 3 different formats in International cricket and different franchise cricket in different locations - all are happening in the same time. Like, people of South Africa or West Indies are more interested in Franchise cricket, while English people are more interested in Red ball cricket and ODIs to some extent. Australians love Red Ball cricket. So, in a way, fans are too diverse. In my opinion, it needs to be streamlined first to understand the actual craze for the game.

If you have world cups like this last World Cup, then surly interest will soon fade away from 50 ODI cricket. Will defiantly go down as one of the worst ICC global events ever!. It was a disaster in the making from the making with scheduling problems, and inept planning!. Not to mention the one sided Indian crowd in all of the games!. An absolute shame!.

The scheduling and ticketing was a total mess, that's a fact. Basically, BCCI delayed more and more because they wanted to avoid 963 crores of tax and they tried till last moment. When they were unable to do so, then they started to plan for the CWC. It was a disastrous situation, tbh.

It never was about winning or losing, it's about the trend of decline of International cricket, especially ODIs. No doubt, it's the biggest world cup ever in terms of viewership, but the numbers are itself paradox too. It didn't even create enough hype, so in a way, flop too. And, secondly, I posed a question in the title; not saying that line in a definitive manner.

@@fullofvendetta2444 tbh, I have thought about making this video since the 1st week of World Cup. Since the pandemic, we've been hearing about the drastic decline of ODIs and exponential growth of franchise leagues. And, to recover the losses during the pandemic, the nations started playing more and more matches. So, in a way, people stopped caring about those bilateral matches. Cherry on the top, BCCI completely mismanaged the ticketing and scheduling while trying to evade the tax. Actually, it was a perfect opportunity to showcase what the game can bring, but BCCI killed it in the 1st week itself. And, ICC would have earned almost the same amount of money if India had won the tournament because they had already reached the final, and that too, in an emphatic manner. It still would have been a flop.

@@fullofvendetta2444 firstly, I am talking about 'International' cricket, especially ODI format, not cricket as a sport because, franchise cricket is the future. Secondly, money matters the most. Kids take up sports out of desperation or passion but ultimately money talks how they shape their career. Now, I'm giving an example. Let's take chess. Suppose, if you play against Carlsen, you'd earn 10,000 USD; but if you play with Vishwanathan, you'd earn 50,000 USD. would you still play with Carlsen despite of the fact that he's the number 1 chess player? No. Same thing happens to international cricket and franchise cricket. I hope you understand.
