@@jamesmanon3000 it doesn't/didn't seem like love to me but control & obsession between 2 needy people. Obsession can feel like love to "starving for love" people. Yoko didn't belong in the band sessions or in these photo shoots. She was out of line and so was John for forcing the situation to include her (if in fact that is how it happened...or did she just push her way into being there???)!

The Lads of Liverpool. The Fab Four. We never grow tired of their music and their stories. Their legend can only grow, and what a time it was to experience their rise in popularity, "I Saw Her Standing There" blasting out on the pocket radios-when we weren't listening to baseball games in America, we were listening to the Beatles, it seems. Sadly, those days seemed to pass so quickly and our melancholy nostalgia tinged with a certain feeling of loss . The impotent rage at the killing of John Lennon and the passing of George Harrison makes for wonder at what more might have been/ No, the gifts they have given us was quite enough, perhaps more than we deserve...

Hi from Liverpool, I'm living 10 minutes away from Strawberry fields & John's old house on Mather Avenue, every time I go past either place I always say " alright John ", his spirit has been seen in both places over the years, I always look up at the front bedroom window when I pass Mendips & at times it feels like somebody is looking back at me, you never know? After all, he spent many years at this house & loved it. I'm 67 now but my older sister used to go & watch them in the Cavern, she married a yank & left Liverpool in 71, I recently sent her a signed t-shirt & photo from Pete Best,I was working in the Casbah, the place the lads first played before Ringo joined them, upstairs has now been converted into a hotel, but the club is still in the basement, as it was in 59/60, the black ceiling with silver stars ,painted by the lads is still there, as is John's scratched name on a wall & ceiling which he did with a small penknife ( which is now in the Beatle museum here in Liverpool) I'm very proud of the lads, they did alright for 4 scousers who shook the world.

The Tudor cottage that now stands at Tittenhurst is an exact replica of the original. When the Sheik bought the property, the cottage was in a great state of disrepair, so it was demolished and an exact replica was built and put in its place. Great video! Paul only started to have Linda show up occasionally - after John had become "John&Yoko" for 6 months. By the time of this photo shoot (August 22, 1969) Yoko had been attached to John's hip all day, every day - for more than a year. It began with the White Album sessions in the summer of 1968... and had been that way for 15 months.

Brian Epstein's death probably made a bigger difference to the Beatles trajectory going forward than the arrival of Yoko or Linda. Brian was the man who held the business end together. Subsequent managers didn't understand the "boys" like Brian did. They were just in the biz of making the biz more profitable for themselves. I understand why Yoko and Linda were so cherished by their mates, John and Paul. Personal losses of close ones ( both of their mothers died young, for example ) can influence the choice of mates later on. Yoko was an innovative and skilled artist in her own right, for sure, but she also had an anchoring effect on John. Same with Linda and Paul. People change. Events change people. "In My Life" and all. John and Paul did have successful marriages to their partners, in the end, and that matters most of all.

I agree with you regarding the loss of Brian Epstein. That was the beginning of the end of the group, the first nail in the coffin. They were not businessmen. Both John Lennon and Yoko Ono seemed to be very insecure people. Both seemed either oblivious to how their actions affected the group dynamics or didn’t care. On the Get Back documentary she seemed always be there, not contributing just hanging around like a bad smell. Credit to the other Beatles for accepting the situation and trying to get along. Some people think that Yoko Ono was talented but I just can’t see it, her screeching was just that - screeching. Always thought it was ironic how the two preached peace, love and understanding while at the same time were anything but to Cynthia and Julien Lennon.

Yoko had a plan from the beginning. She claimed not to know anything about the Beatles and John fell for that, thinking it was cool. I think she thought manipulating John would make her famous and it did, but not for her silly excuses for art .crazy ideas or singing. Just because she got John to bring her everywhere with him and annoy the others. In fact John's insistence on hiring Allen Klein was due to a promise Klein made to give Yoko's so called art an exhibition.

It is a mystery why Apple doesn't produce more stuff for their fans of real quality. They just like to keep repackaging the same stuff over and over again, and sell them plastic crap made in China. Sad to say but Paul or Ringo or Yoko or Olivia simply don't care enough to give the fans what they want. And it's not like they can't ask us. They can. And we will tell them.

I've enjoyed the pics and info on its history, very informative and intresting. As for my own personal opinion about Yoko, she should not of been in the studio with the Beatles, I find it to be disrespectful and intrusive. I don' t blame Yoko completely, John is to blame more than Yoko, because he allowed it. I understand about being in Love, but just because you're in love doesn't mean you lose yourself in the process, forgetting about everyone and I'm talking about the other members of the band. I can't help but see this union between John and Yoko as controlling and manulpative back then. I believe he gave her a lot of control over things that she shouldn't been involved with. It's ok to voice your opinion concerning your husbands music profession, but she overstepped her boundaries by being present in the studio with the Beatles. Yoko is not the 5 th Beatle.

I have always found it odd that J&Y were glued to each other. Makes me wonder who was insecure or controlling? Didn’t the band dislike Yoko’s constant attendance and her posing as the 6th Beatle? Maybe John said if she can’t come I’ll not come?

Lennon certainly had insecurities and Yoko must have been a comfort for him. They also started doing heroin so who knows how much the drugs affected their codependence. Yoko was definitely looking for money to fund her art so I don't doubt that Lennon was very important for her in that regard. If Lennon left her then she would be back on her own with nothing.

Thank you for sharing. Great pictures.-I’ve been in a lot of bands I am a musician mainly the drummer. I always tell people being in a band is like being married you have to put up with everybody’s stuff.-I never liked when my friends would bring their wives in and just sit there gloaming face it would bring the morale down Yoko never rocked out never had fun in the studios, didn’t understand music. It was not her music I think that she should’ve never been inside the studio and that was always a beetle rule. John broke the rules and messed up the morale inside the studio and you can see Chuck Berry’s face when he heard Yoko sing. Well we don’t call it that but you know what I mean.❤

Their compassion, love and desire for peace evidently didn't apply to the animal kingdom. Their wearing of so many exotic animal furs during this period illustrated their ignorance and general apathy to this issue. The spiritualism to which the Beatles were introduced to taught a reverance for life - it appears that John and Yoko prevered fashion to compassion.

Clearly there was a cost to John’s insistence that Yoko be in so many photos. The rest of the band didn’t feel nearly as inclined to do the same with their partners- not out of disrespect but simple decorum. John was breaking away from his lifelong partnership with Paul - and this is part of how he went about it. Obviously John felt he needed Yoko in all these pics and Yoko certainly could have declined. But she didn’t and I’m not sure I blame her. Do I wish they hadn’t broken up? I don’t know. I wish they had gotten back together and I choose to believe they might have had John lived long enough. Also, I think you can see George’s growing disenchantment from the group in many of these photos. And I don’t blame him, either. This band did more in ten years of record making then most musicians do in forty.

I tend to agree with your surmise about Yoko's 'omnipresence': John utilized that presence as a foil against his bond with Paul & the band. He didn't have the strength to just walk away, which is actually quite understandable given the circumstances.

It's such a shame they were all in their prime of life when it came to an end. It's mind boggling to think they were in their late teens when they started and, apart from the incredible talent, their maturity and work ethic shows they were mature beyond their years. I think it was multiple reasons for the split, mainly creativity clashes but financial issues as well.

John and Yoko loved New York because it was the cultural and creative hub of the world. John said he felt comfortable there because people generally respected them and gave them space in public. Sure, there’s an obvious upside to the notion of Lennon never living at The Dakota, but there could’ve been major downsides to that, as well. Speculation about such things is ultimately pointless.

Nice Video . I appreciate the way you requested , did not demand , people Like & Subscribe . Definitely a class act . Yoko is an interesting charachter . I encountered her twice . I stood next to her by a Brancusi sculpture at MOMA in New York & another time attended one of her performances in Miami. I can see what John saw in her ; personable , a talented visual Artist , sexy . That being said , Yoko was a screech owl on the pitchers arm during the World Series : She didn't belong . One could argue the photos were shot in their home , so she should have been there , not exiled . On the other hand , the Camera says the Fab Four were in fact Tormented Troubadours . No one looked happy . A good look for a funeral perhaps , not a good look for a Band 's publicity shoot . Photographer Linda McCartney made sense , she was DOING something .Yoko was as unnecessary as Picasso standing over your shoulder while you work on your car. The Camera doesn't lie .These were not the Beatles of HELP ! Yoko's seems to think the Beatles were the Art Ensemble of Chicago .To put it bluntly , she had him by the balls .

John Lennon was insecure, so John needed emotional and political support. Yoko was that support. Yoko was interested in power. Yoko saw her relationship with John as a way to gain power for herself. What I don’t understand is what John saw in Yoko. The word “Mother” might be a clue to this relationship.

Regarding yoko ono, well who knows, she obviously played a big part in Lennon's life, and he was so much in love with her, and he was happy with her being around. Its so sad to see the look on Ringos and George harrisons faces, you could see there relationship and friendship was in the decline. The Beatles will live on forever.Tgank you for a very interesting and informative video.

John was and remained the leader of the band. They were also artistically inspired by each other so along she came. The recent ‘get back’ documentary suggests it had become quite common near the end for many friends and family to drop by and hang around while they recorded. Largely due to their fame, they appeared to live a verrry insulated life and perhaps welcomed familiar faces while they worked.

14:46 I have an interesting question... What are your thoughts about Yoko Ono appearing in so many promotional photos with The Beatles..? It was bat $hit crazy for John to force her on to the band the way he did. And it was crazy for Yoko to want to be there. None of them wanted her there (except John). Bringing her into the recording studio was way worse than having her around for photos. I have been making the same arguments you make in your video - for decades. Guys... how many of you have your girlfriend or wife go to work with you every day? Ladies... how many of you have your boyfriend or husband tag along with you to work all day, every day..? It was absurdly insane for John to do that to the other 3 Beatles. They all hated it. And in the end.... John, Paul & George all have made statements saying that it was John choosing Yoko over the group... that really ended the group.

Hi from Liverpool, most of us here agree that she ruined the Beatles, but John couldn't see what a bad influence she was on him. Once she got her claws in,it was to late, he would 100% still be alive now if she never showed up,as we say in Liverpool, he should have binned her.

Yoko tried to weasel her way into the Beatles inner circle by setting her sights on Paul, but Paul rejected her from the onset. She then schemed her way to get next to John, and the rest is history. So many people attempted to approach all 4 of the Beatles, with hopes of gaining their trust and thereby becoming close to each member. Yoko had a game plan from the very beginning, and I'm fairly certain that if John had rejected her advances, she would have changed her plans and moved onto George and Ringo.
