Because in the last scene of them (Joyce, Hopper, Will, Mike, Eleven, Nancy, and Johnathon) when standing outside, seeing the town red and burned, you can see Wills nose bleeding. And Elevens nose bleeds when using her powers. And earlier in that Episode he said he could feel “it” so he’s most likely in control again, but more then just in the mind.

fun fact, theres a comic that shows all of Will’s time in the Upside Down and my guy went THROUGH IT. Like No.1 he has an AMAZING shot, like he lit scared the demogorgan away by TEARING IT APART with bullets. No.2 he saw SO MANY dead bodies. Like so many mutilated bodies and skeletons. Its acc so creepy, defo recommended.

I thought that that phrase was a joke given the fact that will is a dnd nerd and probably when the rest of the kids told him "we named the thing that took you the demogorgon" he probably was like "no it cant be that demogorgons dont have telekinesis that thing used telekinesis" becouse he was thinking of the name as the dnd creature, not the thing that took him like the audience and the other characters ended up doing

@@phoney2627 I'm with you that this definitely wasn't planned out, and all the people foaming at the mouth because they apparently hear clock chimes throughout the first 3 seasons are giving the Duffers way too much credit. But given it's looking like Will and Vecna's history with eachother is probably going to be important next season, they have an opportunity to make the season 4 retcon stretch further and fix that season 1 plot hole.

The wildest missed-opportunity in season 3 was how unbothered he seems that Billy's possessed. Like he's obviously not too happy about it, the Mind Flayer being back is definitely bad news. But like. He knows what Billy's going through, he knows how scary it is, so why isn't he more invested in helping Billy. That could have been important for him in season 3: Max and him both being super invested in trying to save Billy, even if the others don't see it as much of a priority. When Nancy's loading the Russian soldier's gun and Max is rightfully nervous about her using in on Billy, Will could have stepped in and pointed out how shitty it is that they don't care about saving Billy the way they cared about saving him. But instead he doesn't really seem to care; Nancy is unloading a whole round into Billy's windshield 10mins later and he doesn't have a thing to say about it. I imagine it was also pretty scary for him that every single flayed person in s3 died. It really puts into perspective how lucky he was to make it out. You'd think that'd mess with your head a bit, but the show is seemingly uninterested in examining Will's trauma if it can't be used as a plot device.

I think what they were trying to do was say will was a decent person so he “deserved” to make it out whereas billy was a jerk, and therefore didn’t??? Even tho I agree with you it would have made more sense to have AT LEAST will care about savings billy even when the season ended and max did nothing to save him at the end. Maybe the could have kept the conflict in max to continue for season 4 but she could have been a little LESS interested in helping him so she would feel even worsr

I 100% agree with this, they also missed an opportunity to make Will and Max have more screen time together bc I feel like they barely interacted throughout the whole thing so it would’ve been a good way to bring them together somehow. Maybe they could’ve been a duo or something like Nancy and Robin or Jonathan and Argyle for example. Thank you for pointing this out!

literally half of will's lines this season were shady, sarcastic, and wise cracks. maybe he comes off as less sassy/bitchy in comparison to characters like max, mike, or dustin but those 3 are meant to be obnoxious. will is just more low key about it because he's not as loud of a person. he’s quite assertive when it’s called for, though.

Will constantly puts everyone else before himself. He's one of the central points of this show and aside from El, has gone through the most and yet it never really gets addressed. Duffer Brothers need to give Will a happy storyline in S5 and make him the main character or give him the villain arc he deserves. Also, people always say that Mike would never like Will because they've been building up Mike and El for 4 seasons. Need I remind you that they've been hinting at Will being gay since S1 and him liking Mike as early as S2(Or S1 if you think about it). Them building up him loving Mike for 4 seasons and Noah himself saying that they're building up for Byler just for it to end up being unrequited would feel so wrong. And honestly, whenever Mike and El are together lately, it just seems so messy and drama filled. Not feeling it. Let Will Byers be happy.

@@sushi287 You can be both oblivious and bi. Robin is a lesbian and yet she thought Vicky wasn't into girls at all. And yet she was proven wrong. Also, we don't know that Mike isn't bi. There are some hints to suggest that he is. Sometimes he randomly stares at Will when he thinks he's not looking or stares at his lips. The parallel between the phrase in the show, "Love makes you crazy" and Mike telling Will, "We'll go crazy together". He has a song playlist and one of the songs in that playlist is about a boy being gay in the 80's. It's implied that Mike doesn't talk to Lucas as much due to him being a jock and yet their relationship seems fine. Distance away from each other and not talking as much didn't really damage their relationship. But Mike is really awkward with Will at the beginning of S4. So if it's not time or distance, Mike must have some other reason for being awkward. And the only difference between the end of S3 and beginning of S4 is that Mike thought Will had a crush on a girl because of El's letter. Mike was fine with Dustin getting a girlfriend. He was fine with Lucas and Max getting together. But the moment he thinks Will might like a girl, he suddenly gets really upset? Mike regrets not telling El the truth before she got taken away. And Will talks about being scared to tell people close to you how you really feel because they might not like the truth. And Mike agrees. If Mike's truth was simply that he only loved El, why would he think she wouldn't like that? The first half of S4 was her begging Mike to say that he loved her. So why would he think she wouldn't like that truth? Unless his truth is actually something different. And, Mike thought Will was painting something for his crush, and when Will gives him said painting, he has this really big smile on his face. He only starts to look confused when Will tries to say El wanted him to make it. If Mike isn't bi, gay, or questioning, some of these moments genuinely don't make sense.

The demagorgon didnt take will, vecna did. They carefully put the details in season 1 to lay the groundwork for season 4. The figure in the road is ambiguous, not specifically a demo, the directors specifically talk about this detain in interviews. Everyone just assumes it is. When will gets taken you can hear the four clock chimes. The telekinesis for the door lock is a vecna power. When wills in the upside down he uses his favorite song as a lifeline. Vecna taking will (not a demo) canonically makes more sense because it would explain why they are connected. Im willing to bet money that in season 5 its going to be explained that vecna took will and has been using him the whole time

Don’t even get me started on his journey through the upside down. There’s a whole comic dedicated to it where he has to constantly run throughout upside down Hawkins. He had to shoot the demogorgan multiple times to escape, he distracted the demogorgan from attacking his mom, and cried to his mom and even at one point for his dad. He had many close encounters with the monster. He watched a mutalated man die in front of him, witnessed Nancy being attacked by the demogorgan, and after he was attacked he was given a speech from the mind flayer and all of the souls it took about the eternal prison of the upside down, before he was brought back. Yeah he’s been through some things lmao

Season 5 he’ll hopefully get his well deserved screen time, and though I feel like a villain arc would be interesting, I feel like Will is too selfless for that. I do want Will to say what’s on his mind, and for him to do something really epic in s5.

hi! so random theory: at the beginning of s1, we see a ‘monster’ chasing after will, and i’m starting to rewatch the series again, so i got a decently good look at it and i saw that one hand was bigger than the other, like vecna, and it also looked like vecna’s body too. and, in one scene, on the walkie talkie, they hear will singing his favourite song. maybe this is one of the reasons he survived? edit: sorry, some of this doesnt make sense, i’m say maybe they were foreshadowing vecna this entire time second edit: sorry! i read this book about the behind the scenes of stranger things and it confirms it was a demogorgon that escaped from the lab! again, really sorry if i mislead anything! i also have another theory, that when hopper was in the shed he couldn’t hear the other police men calling for him because he got switched to the upside down for a minute or two and didn’t ever realize! again, just a theory (but it would be super cool)!!
