Stratego Game Analysis: Playing from Behind - 3 Major Attack Series(game 6)

Watch the video at 1.5 x speed to save time. This is the 6th game of my Major attack strategy series. These games should help most beginners learn how to play from behind. In this game, we actually are surprised at the start. I try a bluff, which is probably my best talent in Stratego. We then learn some common Stratego patterns in certain situations. Finally, we look at a few minor mistakes. Remember to finish strong when you have a commanding lead. Thanks for watching!

I thought of OuweSoks channel when trying to determine if being up a major and captain was enough compensation for the general.

I wish there was a true way of judging the value of pieces like in chess. It's a little more complicated in this game.

@@strategotacticsandtips5636 I agree. I'm better at chess and learning how to use my software to use draw markers in analysis of my games. It would be neat of Stratego had downloadable pgn game notation like chess.

At 11:55 why did you not use the double barrel to take his major with your Colonel. If he runs back until his Marshall you could come with your Marshall or maybe take his Spy. I think it has been a try worth.

At 5:52 your opponent makes a mistake because he or she wasn't caught by the two square rule. Correct me if I am wrong. If he really thought your Major was your Marshal, he could have retreated his General to his part of the board.

Yup, he wasn't caught by the 2 square rule. He just decided to attack. I think higher ranked players would have simply retreated back to their Spy or would have called my bluff and attacked the Major.

Risky bluff in my opinion. As you already commented, the Miner would have been better

You always want to bluff with the lowest piece as possible in case a player calls your bluff. I'm intentionally trying to get way behind by playing using the 3 Major attack strategy. I want to show beginners how to play from behind and how to plan with information they gained by losing pieces. Since the General was already revealed, I figured losing the Major wouldn't be a big deal against a beginner player. So I had fun bluffing.
