Toned tan is amazing for coloured pencils. A MUST try. I have never used gray but rest assured I will!

Alexa I wish I had an answer for you. I haven’t used pastels in a long time. Sorry. 😕 This brand of toned paper is super smooth if that helps.

Toned Grey is also good if not better! Toned grey shines more, with charcoal and white charcoal for highlights!

for those deciding between tan or gray, it really depends on you. close your eyes, think if you want to draw on tan or gray more. imagine your favourite medium (coloured pencil, ink, etc.) on both, which feels more right to you? For me, I prefer tan (coloured pencils), I should've just bought 1 tan sketchbook instead of both grey&tan. But, both are good

@@lisam8909 unfortunately I haven't gotten them yet. my relative was supposed to bring them to my country but canceled her visit because our covid situation got worse. she now plans to come in February. however, I have looked at a thousand reviews and they seem to be very good. They're still second best though because the Faber castle polychromos are a little bit better but they are also more expensive.

Depends on what you are looking to paint a portrait or a landscape.

@@devanandanisheed5119 watercolor : toned watercolor paper Watercolor is teansparent so the gray / tan will make the colors look bleak Graphite : Toned gray paper. ( Toned tan if you want brownish skin than monotone skin, (For reference look at the sketchbook cover and try to see what you want to draw)
