Another hit Tim... once again it always looks like you've painted yourself into a corner when that middle stage looks like puddles of random colors. Then you diligently pull each object out, and the magic begins to come forth and the picture begins to take form. My major attraction to watercolor. And you are more of a master at it than almost all the big watercolor names. And more generous in your sharing and teaching not asking 60 dollars for every demonstration DVD that ends up being a disappointment. Keep up the stellar work Tim you are appreciated. Your the king of seascape and boat watercolors hope to see more but love your cityscapes also!

I like your instruction...you go at a nice pace and explain things thoroughly which allows one to learn. What is your feeling about pencil lines? I noticed some artists leave them, some cover them and some sketch so light...and little so you cannot detect them.
@TimWilmot
@TimWilmot 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ann. Good question. I don't mind them showing a bit in the final painting. Where I have some paper unpainted, I will normally erase pencil lines from there (when the paint has dried!)

Excellent subject matter: great easy to follow explanations. Everything makes sense. Your delivery is paused, calm and reassuring. I would like to see, at the beginning of the video, after the sketching, a more paused and specific explanation of the palette. You do go over the palette, but it went way too fast... Also, when mixing colors at first, slowly indicate the process... if possible. This video is at the very top of all the FREE presentations I have seen. You are a superb artist... Love the French locations also. KUDOS!!!

@TimWilmot
@TimWilmot 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I do mist them before starting if they are a little dry and always use tube paint. Some colours in the pan still keep moist after a few days and my palette has a lid so that helps

I was trying to recreate base layer from this painting. Drawing alongside you, with big brush on smaller canvas and.... My paint became dry on edges before i got to mixing colors (and to remove that edge i have to rub really hard which makes color go green :I ). Thinking it was my mistake I started from beginning again, added more water and try to work even faster... Dry edges once again... I'm not using very expensive paper - gamma fabriano 300g (acid free, no cotton mentioned). Could it be fault of the paper or is it just me? Since I'm a beginner I don't want to spend too much money, but it makes me really frustrated seeing how it not working for me....
@TimWilmot
@TimWilmot 6 жыл бұрын
The paper I used is cotton based and will stay wetter longer than paper. Maybe try dampening the paper first or at least the edges as I did in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gpejhMSD0ZfQl30.html
