Oh man, I had one of these back in the day before I switched to JZ powered Toyotas. I had long tube headers on it, a dual 2.5 exhaust, and a standalone ECU. I got it to crack 180rwkw which wasn't bad for a little 4.0 engine. The A340 was the biggest letdown of the package. being totally standard and wasn't quite capable of keeping up with the engine. I could have put a twin screw whipple on it, but went down the turbo JZ route instead. 1UZ's are pretty good for boost. Keen to see what you do with it.

Id like to see u guys keep that car fix it up and maybe twin turbo or a blower would be neat. Would b a shame to butcher that old car there so nice to drive i had a couple in the mid 2000's.

I had one of these 1UZs in 34 roadster, used a Spitronics ecu from South Africa, around $500 Australian including loom had a launch control and fully programable with laptop too. Used MV automatics manual control from Adelaide for the A340; worked good. Something different from plug and play USA expensive ecus when you pay $2 000 for the same thing...

I used to have a Soarer back in the day, 1jz though. Was a great car, sad to see all the sad looking ones like this. Was a member of the old Australian Lexus Soarer Club, was a great resourse for these cars, good people too. Did a cruise with 54 cars along the Great Ocean Road in 2003, was awesome

Great engine in those.. factory forged crank, 6 bolt mains and dohc.. (can't remember if the rods are forged too?). Was a Q45 forsale locally here but I was too slow! Much like the 1UZ the VH45 Nissan's version of luxury sedans/coupes..

@@bryceybigcashews5888 nugget garage didn't build those cars that the plug was intended for, from memory they may have helped with tuning. And yes the hoff has a turbo 1uz supra and a turbo 1uz Mazda truck.

i was always a massive Soarer (V8 and 2.5T) and Cosmo (20B) fan. Big Coupe Cruisers. 👍

There used to be a workshop on the Gold Coast many years ago called Bullet Performance. They used to make MX5's with either a 13BT, 20B, Or a Soarer V8.

The price was right! Engine sounds good. Just don't swap it into a Hilux bush truck ;) Maybe into your 2nd wagon? I know, sacrilege ( the Hemi makes up for that).

The 1uz should be able to take 12psi of boost relatively easy, if you want 20 psi you'll need head gaskets and more fuel.

that's a nice car! fix er' up, chuck a turbo on it, beat n' bog the hail damage out, stick some ebay airbags in it and get rid of the complex and unreliable factory setup. could be a really nice budget build seeing as the motor seems somewhat healthy

Genuinely. He did start it earlier in the day though. But we rocked up and he hit the key and it started

I couldn't hear the air compressor. There's a test/diagnosis plug in the boot under the left side panel, you should be able jump power to earth then to each corner to make it drivable, if that's the case you've probably got a broken wire and should check the wheel height sensors. That is if you succumb to per pressure and keep it, other wise you can just get a second hand set of regular shocks and springs of gummy to bang in it.

problem might be the alternator, as he said the power steering pump was buggered. the alternator is directly below the power steering so if leaking fluid, the alternator is done for. happened to mine on the the way home just made it back to the garage before the car was laying on the ground

@@coolhandluke1503 dunno about that but I was most intrigued why a base model soarer had airbags though. plus side note mine that come standard with airbags had the biggest car battery i've ever seen

@@michaeldunwoodie7717 Yeah it did have cloth seats if I remember right, strange, could the airbags be an option in the uzz30? The battery in mine is basically a 4x4 battery.
