Lot's of fun! The deep sanding marks... that shows that whoever did the bondo job did it right. They're necessary for proper adhesion of the bondo. I've said it before and I'll say it again... get one of the cheap sandblasters from harbor freight to use on those small spots and areas that are hard to sand! I owned a body shop. I've done stripping your way and the chemical way... the little sanblaster is a wonderful addition to your tool arsenal. And by the way, I've blasted whole cars before and with very little effort it's easy to blast withour warping anything. Always love the videos.

I used to make rallycross and autocross (closed circuit gravel racing, not the slalom thing) videos, and we usually cut the bottom of a sandwich bag, and pulled it onto the camera, and taped it to the lens. This way you can still access the buttons, but have it covered from most of the dust.

Hey Sarah, I’m presently working on a relatively small project concerning the restoration of a 2001 Vespa. The paint was actually in decent condition. Long story shorter, one day earlier this Fall I stupidly left it outside the garage during a particularly windy day (resting on its sidestand). Suddenly, it plopped over onto its side. Despite it being a tough lil monocoque chassis, the paint on the hind quarters suffered moderate scratches. I’ve got some stripping to do now. Thank goodness I have been following along with all of this series! Thanks to your extremely helpful and detailed video here, I managed to source an inexpensive die grinder and whistle brisket setup of my own, just perfect for the job. I appreciate you so much and truly love your channel. You rock!

Hey Sarah, I'm sure you've had a million people offer advice about tools on this subject, but.... I've done a bit of this on bike bodywork and found that a cheaper alternative to whistlebiscuits for stripping paint on is a radial flap wheel, not a flap disc like you'd use for weld finishing but a flap wheel like a Klingspor wsm617 or equivalent, they're non destructive to the metal but eat paint like ants eat chicken meat. Go several grades coarser than you think you want as they have a gentle cusioned action you can get away with a coarser grit, 40g works like 80g would on a sander. Keep up the excellent work and ffs give those poor cameras a dust off ;-)

Amazing progress. Apparently I watch too much KZfaq, because I hear the same "royalty free" music everywhere, but I've gotta say your music selection is just great. I'm sure you pay a subscription or have to buy rights to use some of your tunes, but it is noticed and well appreciated. The music when you went after the adhesive on the roof was fire, and the Adele remix/instrumental was cool too. Bummer about the rear 1/4, but I'm sure you guys will get it so much better than it was before, and honestly it looked fine.

I started using POR-15 in the mid-1990s and the past few years I had the coatings fail on parts after a year or two while 10-20 year old applications looked better. I switched to Master Series Mastercoat paints and epoxy topcoats a few years ago and I'm much happier with them. I've lived in the northeast since birth, so I do everything I can to make my vehicles last in this climate.

I used to do this stuff with DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft before switching over to line maintenance on same birds. The same rules regarding oil-canning apply, ie: keep the heat down and when in doubt, either slow down or switch to paint stripper. There is another method (that I never got to try) that involves wet-blasting, ie: bead-blasting with water. It's very fast and removes old body filler like it isn't even there. But the potential for warpage is very real, so not worth the risk. Walnut blasting may be an option though if pressures can be kept low enough to avoid oil-canning.

You could keep an overpressure in the vehicle to keep the dust out. My off-road caravan uses a suction filter and a fan to keep the cabin pressurised, thus stopping dust and dirt from entering the cabin. We use the same principle in electrical buildings of nuclear power plants, and I do the same thing with my PC.

For the body damage on that passenger side quarter you may want to consider in acquiring a stud welder. That way the dents may be pulled by means of a slide hammer. Afterward the studs can be cut and ground flush.
