Crazy thing is Brian is currently at around 380lbs. His walking weight for a long time was around 430lbs. Imagine that crushing down on you when you're both on the ground.

The round wouldn't start with the big guy on top of him The MMA fighter wouldn't let him get a grip of him and instead uses his speed and mobility to target his weak points..

Imagine if he trained and jiu jitsu for a couple years, I don't think there's too many people that could handle him that's a big old boy right there and strong as heck, and he's one of the nicest people out there too cuz you don't really perceive it as a competition, that he's probably one of the nicest human beings on the planet. Down to earth as anybody I've seen on KZfaq, I fellow that puts in work nice to everybody and is willing to learn anything from anybody is the kind of person you want to be good buddies with or at least learn from. I'm convinced the first time Brian Shaw let Dustin win just not to simply hurt his feelings, being that he's a professional fighter and all the second time they wrestled was more realistic it just goes to show you that with some majority of martial arts they can't overcome a significant size difference unless you're talking about calculated strikes to the head or body but as far as wrestling or Jiu-Jitsu that's why they have weight classes. Honestly Judo would be a better martial arts I can somebody have a bigger size if you choose to grapple

There's an iron rule of martial arts that states you can only defeat an opponent in hand to hand combat when they no more than 3x your own size in body mass. Anything above that and technique is considered useless.

This is an interesting case study that shows at a certain point of sheer muscular size that it can suffice in a fight. Figure anyone tries, even if all he can do is rag doll, bear hug, and throw haymakers when you can move weight like Shaw, that’s a pretty big something. Plus I can’t imagine anyones going to be stupid enough to think a 450 lb 6’9 man with forearms bigger than most peoples thighs is a good target to mess with

This is why weight classes exist. Zero experience Brian Shaw easily handles one of the best Lightweights on the planet.

There's no replacement for displacement. Weight classes exist for a reason.
