@@katiedillard8218 , lol I don't know. Makes sense to me. I love Frankie, but the whole deal with You Tube and struggle meals speaks of folks with no expendable cash.( I usually have under $50/ month for food after basic bills are covered.)
@Thuazabi
@Thuazabi 5 жыл бұрын
@@ellatoler9706 I'm sorry, but that's a ridiculous comment. If you only have $1.64/day TOTAL (basically $0.55/meal) to spend on food each month, you're beyond struggling, and the capacity to eat healthily. That's poverty level, and our society makes eating processed junk far cheaper than DIY meals. The only way you could reduce prices to your budget would be buying in massive bulk quantities and doing these kinds of meals prepped 1 year at a time, and that's nowhere near possible on $300/yr TOTAL for all your meals.

@@OrdinaryLatvian Yeah, that applies to short-grain rice like arborio, where you need that outer layer of starch for a slightly creamy consistency. Think risotto. But long-grain rice like jasmine rice needs to be rinsed in cold water 2-4 times for a fluffier consistency.

Other than exceptions like risotto, rice should be washed. Arsenic in rice is a problem-- and if you are a frequent rice eater, it is more of a concern. Plus, my halmuni (Korean grandma) taught me to do it that way, so I'm gonna keep doing it.

I've seen a lot of the same question on recent videos but I haven't seen anyone give this answer so I figured I would. All these recent episodes where you get to the end and are like "?? Where's the rest?????" are available in full through Tastemade TV which is a subscription thing on their website. It seems odd that they don't seem to be advertising that too much. So the rest of this video, the second half of the meal prep video, the other two plant based recipes, etc. are probably not gonna end up here for a while, if ever.

My only complaint is similar to the meal prep for the week video, you didn't finish the week. Or at least did a chicken meal as well for people to have a better idea how to do both meats.

I don't like meal prep like this. It's too much of a hassle in the morning. You spend maybe 5-10 mins putting together and packing your lunch, then another solid 10 mins to clean up afterwards. That's time I can't afford tbh. I'll cook a bunch of food on Sunday and prepare full meals that freeze well. Take them out the night before, pack some fresh vegetables, the next morning is just grab a container and go to work.

Re: the rice once you’ve combined it with other stuff; I assume you’ll refrigerate this lunch container at work. Isn’t the rice dry and hard since the meal is eaten cold or do you warm this up in the microwave and for how long? Whenever I warm up Leftover rice from chinese takeout, usu. it’s still grainy and dry. What’s your tip to moisten up that type of rice?

Curious, in order to stock up this packet drawer, how often do you have to eat out in order to get all this stuff, or do you just go to places that have sauces and stuff in portion packs and help yourself to them without buying anything? If you are eating out this much, perhaps you need to cook at home more and just buy your condiments in full sized jars and bottles....

I just found this guy by watching him in my Samsung TV service so I had to look him up here... I love his energy and cooking tips, tricks, and techniques. A note for anyone wanting to avoid the excess carbs in this meal... the carrots are minimal and pack a bunch of health benefits so keep them. The rice, on the other hand, is high carb. If you are a diabetic or are eating a low carb diet (such as Atkins or KETO) you can substitute riced cauliflower for the real rice... BUT if you plan on reheating this dish with the cauliflower sub... you need to NOT cook your cauliflower all the way (or at all) because it will turn to mush... raw riced cauliflower (simple to prep just cut your cauliflower into chunks and then shred like he did the carrot) cooks pretty quickly in the microwave. PRO TIP: If you don’t want to become the office pariah DON’T HEAT FISH AT WORK ... notice I said don’t heat... not don’t eat. You don’t want to reheat fish in a microwave anyway because it ends up overcooked and rubbery. Instead keep a larger glass (real glass) or supersized coffee cup (both of which are available at your nearest dollar store) and heat water for 1.5-2 mins in it in the microwave. Then empty water into a different container (for hot tea, instant soup, instant coffee etc) or simply dump it. Place fish into cup and cover with a plate (if using a paper plate or the lid to your lunch container invert to better trap heat) while you heat the rest of your meal. By the time you are ready to eat, your fish should be nicely warmed with little to no odor to torture your fellow workplace family. If you store your lunch in a fridge, remove it about an hour before you plan to eat to make heating easier all around. Remember, this could also be eaten cold as a “salad” by adding more oil or water to the dressing to thin it out a bit and/or heating just the sauce.

I personally can't eat ready meals that have been in the fridge for five days. 2 days yep. thas why i prefer two meal prep days a week if the food isn't gonna be frozen

Cidi Huia this is also why I utilize rotisserie chickens in meal prep. You can get them for $5 at Costco and don’t have to do too much prep during the week.
