Mainoo is massively underrated. I would go as far as to say he is the only player in the team right now that i never feel nervous when he recieves ball. He is everything and anything. Always stays calm but electric at moments. What a legend

Mainoo has soft feet, instant control and a relaxed style very calm and controlled on the ball. Agree he looks an excellent player.

i would also include eze & against better teams i would play gallagher, who should not have been taken off against slovenia, especially as kane, bellingham & saka all played badly!!

@@Always_a_Duelist they said that wharton might be too young to play for england but yet they have picked mainoo, who is younger than wharton! i think southgate was wrong to take off gallagher, either, kane, bellinhgham or saka should have been substituted, or maybe all 3! mainoo & gallagher have different roles & england will miss conor if their backs are against the wall tonight!! in my opinion!

this is as simple as trippier is making the field narrower from the left and kane making it even smaller vertically. the other teams do push up and get tighter to the other players. kane is 30 but it’s about me me and me like ronaldo, doesnt run doesnt press, conserve energy, plays how he likes where he likes. shoot on sight and begging for tapins and pens. pick someone else instead of trippier and kane and you will see that team looks much better

Pearcey pretty spot on, gives a good summary without being disrespectful to anyone. Kobies got to start for me, I'd actually drop one of Bellingham or foden as they're both 10's and bring in either Gordon or palmer. Probably drop Bellingham to be honest, although Kane could also be dropped and play Bellingham as a false 9, which is how Kane's played anyway!

Surely you leave Foden out everyday of the week before you even consider leaving Bellingham out of this team. Gordon on the left, Mainoo next to rice and see them lads flourish.

Foden is better playing in the number 10 position than Bellingham. He's quicker, more skilful and more creative. Bellingham is more of a box to box midfield power house, would be better playing as a number 8 like he did at Dortmund.

Some people are over complicating things. We're a team lacking energy at the moment because we're playing players every game that are clearly flagging. Kane, Saka, Bellingham and Rice all look knackered. Three of them started the tournament on the back of injuries are are struggling for match fitness and form. Gordon, Palmer and Wharton should all be starting.

Change the formation to 3 at the back is and has been the solution. Changing the players in a silly formation is not going to work.

Problem is Mourinho has a history of losing the dressing room, which you can't do at international level, just look at the Dutch and Belgians One plus for Southgate is he keeps a togetherness in the group. My shout, although painful to say as a UTD fan, would be klopp! He'd be perfect for England.

He must start. Simple as that but highly unlikely from a defensive minded manager. Because thats clearly what he is. We often get the chance to break and then, for no reason, the ball ends up back with Pickford. Really, really frustrating to watch. We will lose against Slovakia if we stick with this formula.

Mainoo should come from the bench to protect his career or play as a striker if he is to start. If he makes a costly mistake in the mid , English fans will destroy him and forget he's just a teenager. Southgate is doing great on Mainoo if we are to look at the future of the team. He might not get the praise of tomorrow's team due to the pressure of producing results now. He might be forced to experiment with Mainoo's career for his own career

I'm just sick of the manager choosing players from fashionable clubs. Wharton is obvious. Next year he will probably be playing for Bayern Munich. Then he will be a shoe in. Why not now? Foden has to stay wide and Bellingham has to interact with him. Palmer and Gordon aren't up to the level required. The fact that Foden doesn't stay wide is up for debate. Is he ignoring what he has been told and if so, he should be dropped.

Have you watched Maino against Liverpool and City Midfield? Mainoo was Southgate’s plan in the knockout stage. Gareth wanted to experiment Gallagher and Trent in the group stage to see what he’s got incase Mainoo gets injured.
