Southgate reply was that it might seem obvious to make changes but he said he wanted to keep the same shape and he's conscious that if you overstretch yourselves trying to equalise, then there's a risk you go 2-0 behind. That's typical when England are 1-0 behind, Southgate is focused on ensuring we don't go 2-0 behind, probably explains why he'll only take risks in the final 2 or 3 minutes of matches. Southgate also said that at no stage tonight did he feel we were going out of the completion, this shows how deluded he is, he's wanting us to believe that in the 93rd minute of 96 minutes he still felt confident we'd equalised even though we'd not had a single goal on target.

Southgate didn't have the dignity to resign after the last European Championship when the competition was practically handed to England in terms of weak opposition and home advantage while on their way to the final. The out-of-touch old buzzards at the FA are equally to blame for rewarding perennial loser Southgate with a new contract instead of sacking him.

Even though the England players were terrible , it wasn’t helped by the ref being “ card hungry “ with rediculous bookings for light tackles in the first half but by the 2nd half were letting Slovakia away with some really dirty tackles. Which was also a point to mention that , Slovakia were so “ dirty” with tackles and time wasting , by continuing to fall to the floor with fake injuries. Slovakia were lucky to finish the match with 11 players on the pitch.

Why leave Rashford and Grealish at home and bring Gordon and not play him Does he think Trippier is better out there than Gordon or Jack Toney made a difference he brings some muscle and steel to the team having young flair players is ok but you need someone to do the ugly side of the game sometimes He also likes to get his head on the ball which we lack and wins free kicks against teams that park the bus Need to Start Gordon and Palmer on the wings but doubt Southgate will do that

Pundits , journalists , commentators all know where the problem lies. It’s the manager , Gareth Southgate. It’s time to put him to the sword in the post match interviews and tournament media sessions. Every game , somebody comes out and says , “we know we can play better”. The question that is begging to be asked is , “when are you going to stop telling us that you can play better, and just actually go and play better”. Part of me is sorry that we won tonight . Why ? Because it would be the last time that Southgate takes charge of an England team. The man doesn’t know his best starting eleven , he doesn’t know when to make substitutions and is tactically incompetent. Please for the love of God, just go !

I’m flabbergasted that everyone continues to be surprised by these performances. It’s the same EVERY TIME. Go back to the last 2 tournaments; we play shite and eek through the stages until we get dumped out by a half decent team. It’ll happen again this time. We’re a million miles away from being “the best” team in Europe. A million miles away. Every half decent team should be licking their lips at the prospect of facing England atm; we’re too cautious, too defensive, there’s no visible team cohesion, we’re not scoring goals easily, we dont seem to have any tactics, and the manager is absolutely shocking. It’s not coming home. We’re not good enough, and tbh, we’re playing like we dont even want it.

My issue is that 4 games in and Southgate hasn't learnt anything. He's playing virtually the same players in the same formation with the same tactics and we've struggled every single game. Amazingly Southgate STILL refuses to change anything, he's loathe to even make substitutions when we're desperate for changes, it's criminal really. Does makes you wonder if Southgate has mental issues, he does seem to be deluded and seeing something different to 99.9% of the population. We always have 1 or 2 bad performances in these tournaments but now part from 20 minutes against Serbia we've had 4 consecutive terrible performances where we have zero threat and zero understanding with players struggling playing out of position and though they haven't been coached or motivated, everything is slow, lethargic, constant sideways and backwards passing. Our 1 bright spot is Cole Palmer has looked fantastic but weirdly GS wont start him. Another positive is Mainoo looks class but again GS has hardly played him and even subbed him off today when he was playing so well.

If we play like that against Switzerland we will definitely get beat because they look like a very good side this tournament

I don’t see how this panel can say that Slovakia deserved to win. They seem to have forgotten that they should’ve had at least two players that on yellow cards got away with a number of bookable tackles England also had a goal disallowed in a offside that was easily avoided by a player not being clever enough to stay behind the ball. Rice hit the post and Kane had a great chance but missed the header. I can’t remember Pickford having to make a single save in the game. The fact that we were lucky to score in the final minute was a papering over the cracks in the decision to make crucial game changes that he’s made to late in the game and subs should have been brought on twenty minutes earlier than they were. Still not used Watkins and Gordon was a insult to the players who have the ability and energy to make a big impact for us

Saka was immaculate at LB, he needs to stay there while we need him there.. Palmer has proved he can play RW.. everything flipped when that change was made.. no one even mentioning that Saka to LB was as much of a change as making another sub.

We played badly enough to make the opposition look good. It was not luck we scored 2 goals and despite having Southgate as a manager who understands very little about attacking football.

I don't think Slovakia deserved to win the game at all.. England dominated possession since the second half onwards. It's typical, relentless negativity that harms the national team. Maybe the media and fans should stop blaming the manager and the players and perhaps consider whether the negativity is affecting the team spirit.

England under Southgate has never once looked anywhere near dominant. He’s an objectively bad coach that’s never gotten in right. Anything he’s done off the pitch is negligible considering what he delivers on the pitch. England has the talent and it’s wasted under a coach that can’t coach. Southgate isn’t Sunday league level, he’s pundit level at best. No way they win this even if they manage to make the final.

If Trippier is at LB then you play Gordon - an actual living breathing LW at LW which would've given us so much more direct play, pace and balance.
