Before I knew anything about digital marketing, I worked full time as an elementary school teacher. I was extremely burnt out and unhappy until I stumbled across this career. Currently, I am working as a digital marketing manager while also teaching students in my beginner digital marketing course. This field has changed my life and I made this channel to help guide those who are seeking a career and hope to be successful in doing so.

You're totally right about social media and phone distractions. For instance my friends message me frequently throughout the day and really throw me off from my studying. Trying to figure out a nice way of telling them I'm only going to respond at lunch and after 5pm lol

Love your video, especially about your portfolio. I used to refuse a CV because I didn't believe in it but had not thought about the best way to show my skills especially because I have been out of the job market for a long time as I was working for myself but now decided to slow down in responsibilities of been an entrepreneur and decided to go for a totally different field. Thank you, I use the same example. On Reddit people say the same thing you said..."you can read watch all the videos about digital marketing but it means nothing until you implement it with internships, apprenticeships or some type of training." I could not get an apprenticeship with Acadium ... misleading. And you want $3k for what? From Seth course. Every one expect you to be an expert in the area of interest or they confused you with a virtual assistant. I see you DIDN'T go thru Acadium. Smart. Thank you for the helpful information.

Great Video. I’m going through the SEO Terminology section right now. Did you happen to click on all the links the first time through and read /study them all? Or do you recommend just skimming through because it’s just so much info to retain? I need to start taking notes as well; I just thought I remembered Seth saying the first time going through the course just review it initially. Thanks for your great info!!

Hi there! Glad you find them helpful! Honestly, I just went through them one by one without previewing. Take it slow and have patience. You’ll get through it eventually even if it seems overwhelming at first :)

May I ask you if you think strong computer skills are helpful to get into this field? I am 61 and not computer savvy but have been in medical/ nursing for 36 years. I like your advice! But I'm going to have to pass on #4 because I always disliked taking notes. Taking notes distracts me from actually acquiring information into my brain. Plus I never really look back at my notes so there's not point in all the hand cramps. If there's a detail I missed or forgot, I can always rewind it.

Hi Crystal! 😊 Great question! I studied around 8-9 hours a day with a some short breaks for about a week. I was pretty obsessed with the course material and building my Wordpress site haha

Hi Christie! Applying to the correct entry level jobs and having a portfolio to show during the interview was super helpful. DM jobs are very in demand right now so being able to speak to that experience was more than enough for them :)

If you do facebook ads do you have to use your own personal facebook profile or do you get a generic/business facebook profile? I ask as I have had issues with facebook access in the past. The same with google ads is there an office google ads business login?

Yes, it’s encouraged to make your own business profile for FB ads and make a business email for Google ads as well

Are you taking a course or are you trying to figure it out yourself? I would learn a bit of basics of Google Ads and take the certification. Then work on the portfolio worksheet after having some basic understanding

I see a lot of PPC/SEM roles ask for several years of experience, what kinds of ppc roles do you think it’s good for someone that’s done general marketing experience/entrepreneurial projects to apply to? Do you believe it’s possible to find fitting remote roles? (I feel like my case is a bit unique) I saw your statistic about women being less likely to apply vs men if they don’t feel they check all the boxes so I’m having a hard time knowing how to best prepare… also why I truly appreciate your responses 🙏

Hi! First off, are you interested in SEO or PPC or email marketing? Do you know which area you have a bit more experience in even if you job is more general? Second, to find a remote role just apply to companies that are out of state. For example, if you are in California apply to companies that are headquartered in New York. Let me know if that makes sense :)

I saw you’re interested in specifically PPC. In that case, I would brush up on Google ads. Then apply to coordinator or entry level roles. You should have an edge with your general marketing experience. Good luck!

@@growwithchristine thanks for your response… I’m looking to build up my portfolio so I’m reaching out to non profits to help them with their ads… someone reached out to me saying their 10k/mo got approved and I want to make sure as I do this I deliver them with the best results… is there a resource you recommend or would Seth’s course suffice to get started on helping them? I gotta be honest, I wasn’t expecting anyone to respond so soon. Any general tips even would be great

Hi Frank, Totally understand your frustration - Getting the first job is the hardest. I would keep on applying - it took me over 40+ applications to get my first entry level position

Hi Anna, I built my own Wordpress website that Seth shows us step by step. At the time, I wasn't sure what topic to choose either. 😆 My site was about: "The Best Boba Shops in LA". Honestly, it didn't get that much traffic/clicks. But the valuable lesson was learning to create a Google Ads account, campaign, ad groups, and keywords. Hope that helps!

I wish I could run Google ads. Now it says you need a registered company. However building a website on wordpress and tracking with Google Analytics can help.

Hi Saibou! There are many different types of jobs within the digital marketing space (not just PPC or SEO). If you are interested in Facebook Ads, there are many "social media specialist" positions available out there for you. :)
