Saw them do this live a couple days ago in Virginia. They still sound great!! The new album is awesome too. I wish it got more radio air time... radio silence indeed.

Playing those harmonics and singing the intro is so hard to do. These guys are super pros!

Great video! Love the quality. They've claimed that when their summer tour is over they'll go on a solo tour and play the whole album live straight through and do some of the hits. Hope it comes true!

I think The Mission is a GREAT album!! Great concept of the trials, tribulations and triumphs of the first manned mission to mars. I would love to see them perform the album in its entirety!

Sounds good, Shaw still has a great voice and the band plays well together. Still miss Dennis, but I understand time moves forward. Good luck guys. I am sure it will sell a few thousand copies because the labels don't even support classic rock. Cannot even get them to play new releases of the artist they supposedly support. It really is a shame.

Best part of your post. Still miss Dennis. A concept album without DDY is like corn flakes without the milk.

I just cannot bring myself to see them without him. I have seen his show and it was great. Sounded like the old Styx days. How ego's get in the way.
@stephen15627 жыл бұрын
anakina1 DDY brought absolutely nothing in the way of quality rock music to the band after "Pieces of Eight " so why keep going on about him.

Stephen Lord Agreed...Cornerstone is when the band started having problems, due to Dennis's obsession with ballads. And honestly, I never really liked "Babe" to begin with. Then Dennis just got worse from there, with the theatrics, and more sugary ballads. If he (Dennis), hadn't fallen off the deep end with it, maybe Styx would've been able to put out some better material. in '81 & '83. But on the plus side of that, JY & Tommy were able to produce some great songs. "Half Penny Two Penny" is on my top 5 list of JY's songs with Styx.

I miss Dennis as well. I also love and appreciate the music this group of guys has made since Dennis was performing with them, and I really enjoy both eras. I think part of the answer to this issue is in the lyric here: "and when that road calls your name/doesn't matter what's to gain/it's in your blood". They have all moved on, they have desires, and are concentrating on what they can do best right now - this is a pretty damn good example.

Love this new CD...it sounds like Styx has got their rock & roll back with out the syrupy ballads & show tunes from DDY...

DK...You mean the songs that made them lots of money and more famous?
@RUHDD4HVN6 жыл бұрын
iodinesoul.......Do you have ex-ray vision too? Good insight and quite correct. Funny how they seem to hate the very thing that gave them life as a band??????? Strange but true. Then the irony....what songs do they play for their audiences????? Those very songs that keep em employed....Love em as I do, I think they might have too much time on their hands...but IDK? Great comment.......

Stephen Lord that true, but he would at least have at least two songs per album.

Stephen Lord ~ Thanks👍 I've been a huge Styx fan for close to 39 years now. They are my absolute favorite band. I read up on as much as I can on them. Just saw a story, where Dennis wants one more final tour with Styx. Personally, I don't believe, nor do I want it to happen. Why bring all those problems back into the fold? Dennis was not the person who brought me in as a fan, it was Tommy. But that's just me I guess. I had to block an abusive person on here yesterday that kept calling names because I don't want Dennis back, as he does. Anyhow, have a blessed weekend...🎶

Definitely has a "Man in the wilderness" feel about it, but not as good.
@diceytrust27687 жыл бұрын
Stephen Lord ~ Actually, I think it's better. Has a little edginess to it close to the end. "Man In..." doesn't have that. Plus, Tommy sings it with more emotion.

That was exactly my first thought once I heard the intro when I bought the album. This, Red Storm, and Greater Good are my top 3 atm

@coolwheelz51907 жыл бұрын
No, it really is bad.......I respect artists who realize they can no longer make good new music, especially when the person who wrote all of their hits is no longer in the band, than groups who think they have a clue, but don't!!!
@diceytrust27687 жыл бұрын
Coolwheelz ~ So go listen to Dennis then. This is the best they've done since "Pieces Of Eight".
