@@infernobreath2998 but spanking isn’t child abuse, in Texas US (and definitely other states) we have exceptions if “the actor is someone with jurisdiction over the child” and “the actor reasonably believes that the force is needed to discipline the child” I was spanked as a child. I don’t resent my parents for it because it was necessary, it was quick and to the point, and holy crap it worked hahaha.

No offence but there is a shit ton of research that shows that hitting, spanking, etc. does absolutely nothing in terms of discipline and is actually abuse. The child is either too young to understand why it got hit as the brain capacity hasn't developed yet for that. OR old enough that other disciplinary actions would work just as well (as in laying hands on your children is just plain lazy because parents couldn't even put in the effort to find a different and maybe more effective way to discipline their child). It significantly raises the chance of the child getting mental illnesses later in life and getting into problems with the police. I am so glad that no matter in what way, laying hands on a child is against the law in my country as it should be and absolutely disgusted that in most American states even teachers hitting children is still ok. In my country it doesn't matter what the parents say to justify it . Your children will be taken away from you because, again, there is the research on this that shows how this endangers children. I hope to god you really feel no negative effects because of what your parents did to you but then again you are here arguing that hitting children is actually beneficial. That is pretty telling to me. Last but not least, just because something is allowed by law doesn't mean that it actually should be and using it to argue is useless.

@@AS-zz2ke honestly i feel it depends on the child in most cases, I was spanked as a kid very few times because I understood that it only happened when I messed up in some way. It’s the same principle as touching a hot iron, the pain you feel is associated with an action which makes you not repeat that action a second time without understanding the consequences beforehand. Other more tame disciplines don’t work for every single kid to say that spanking is just a complete no go, I never cared about having my phone or ps4 as a kid and I was already introverted so staying in my room without those things isn’t a bother personally. It’s just perspective man

And then understand that it does not depend on the child. A parent should never look at a child and be like 'oh they can handle me hitting them' like how fucked up is this? How bad of a parent can you be? How lazy were your parents that they saw that things like taking your game consoles away wasn't working so they just naturally moved on to hitting their child? I am repeating myself but you are on the internet and arguing that hitting a child is ok because according to you some children such as yourself deserve it. That is not good. Please see that your reasoning is incredibly worrying and educate yourself.
