It really helped that you did not edited the video and went through the whole process on camera, thank you

Money Son! That did the trick. Did not want to buy new gussets. I used a ratcheting wood clamp instead of my welders clamp/vicegrips and an 8mm socket instead of the screw driver. Thanks👍🏾

Thanks Trey. I'm gonna check this out tonight. I see people putting strips into the door rubbers, but this guide being shaped correctly should solve the problem the correct way.

Have you found this to be a fairly permanent fix? I will be inheriting an '06 Forester and am hoping to not have to replace the gussets. Thank you

I got them from Harbor Freight tools they are for holding metal for welding

I see you have a crack on top of your gusset as well like me. Does that tear, affect the noise as well?

When we had the car I don't recall but I don't think it made any difference.

Can you bend the gusset without taking off the mirror? Thanks for this great video.
@tsharpton15 жыл бұрын
I don't think so because the mirror is hard plastic on the outside and you have to get it off so you can bend it through the soft rubber.

I was able to bend it without taking off the mirror right before I took a 12 hour trip. It is way better! The wind noise is 75% better. You just got to make sure you get the metal with the welding clamps. Thanks again for this video. Would have never been able to fix this problem without seeing this.

Is this still working. Good fix?

well it was still working about 2 months ago. we sold the car but it should be fine as long as you don't shut the door by pushing the window.

It seems like everybody that owns a Subaru always has problems on the Driver's side gusset - that's because we always use the window to shut the door. My Driver's side needs changing but I can't afford a new one right now & I basically use the car for around town errands. There is always something with an old Subaru to putter around with - but I actually like to do stuff like this...

My Forester is right hand drive and my passenger side gusset makes a ton of noise, while my driver side is quiet.

try a JIS screwdriver, not phillips.
