Thanks man! This fix worked great for me and the windnoise was driving me insane. So happy I found a aussie video that told me the exact thing I needed at bunnings. I am now complete. Cheers dawg!

You bloody bonza. I've been putting this off for so long and now... I have done it. I managed to super glue my fingers, squirt some on the window and the tweeter lmao

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Took under 10 mins, very easy and it's FIXED!!! I haven't used super glue on the upright corner bit yet while I wait to see if it's needed - mine just seems to slot in no problem at the moment and no interference with the windows going up and down at all. If you don't live near a Bunnings (Australia) or it's not available at your nearest Bunnings just check online which store currently stocks it and give them a ring and they will mail it to you (Bateman's Bay sent mine). Total cost was $20 and the best $20 I've ever spent! The stuff you need is by MORODAY - 5m roll - Round Bottom (EPDM) 15mm x 8mm (part no. 2-60003 or Bunnings I/N: 4000041). This easily did both front windows with plenty left if you need any more for later! :D

While frameless doors look cool,they have inherent problems with seals.

Thanks for the video. Just bought an '03 Forester and first thing I noticed once I got on the highway was the wind noise. This seems like the easiest solution to the problem that I've seen. Gonna purchase some 8mm x 13mm rubber u-channel tubing and hope that's close enough in size to the stuff you used.
@MrJackKnight6 жыл бұрын
It should be ok, good luck and I hope it works for you!

Good on ya champion, Fixed the problem perfectly.

This looks like the best solution which makes sense and requires no tools. Will be trying this out when I find something similar to that rubber seal you have. I'm in Canada so my local PartSource or even something online might be helpful. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers mate

How did it go @xntrkcrx?

5/16 inch outside diameter clear vinyl tubing will also work. Many places will sell it by the foot, and should cost no more than $3.

it worked, thank you!

Sorry guys, yeah it did reduce the wind noise by at least 70%, it’s still there but not as much as before.

I tried doing something like this with an adhesive vinyl foam and found that it made the gap too small, which in turn made the window motor struggle a bit. Did you find that the rubber rubbing up against the window slowed the window down (put extra pressure on the motor)?
@MrJackKnight4 жыл бұрын
Ah, that's too bad. The rubber stripping didn't impact the motor noticeably for me. Perhaps try a little bit of silicon spray along the track?
@AcuRobbie6 жыл бұрын
Did this dramatically reduce the noise noticeably
@MrJackKnight6 жыл бұрын
Yep, worked for me! Just be sure to taper off the edges of the rubber so you get a smooth seal transition.

@MrJackKnight5 жыл бұрын
@@Appalachianpyro the Australian version of Home Depot, it's just extruded EPDM rubber stripping. If we have it in Aus, i'm pretty sure you guys will have it there.
