One of the problems that Subaru owners may encouter at some point is the key getting stuck in the ignition. This video examines a potential free DIY repair if the problem relates to the park position contact switch.
This video builds on crazywalla's hints from SubaruXVForums.com.
Repair procedure:
Take apart the arm rest/center console pieces to expose the shiter assembly.
Remove shifter knob and assembly top faceplate.
With parking brake on and car on chocks, shift into neutral or park to expose park position contact switch.
Use tweezers or precision screw drivers to straighten the tab on the park position contact switch. Or even introduce a slight upward curve.
Test the repair, adjust the contact switch tab further as required.
Reassemble everything.
