Everything else I've read says that subclinical hypothyroidism is when TSH is elevated but T3 and T4 are still normal (vs the other way around, which is what is stated in this video).

Thank you for this video. Months ago I started to feel very off and more fatigued, depressed, gained alot of weight in a short time, couldn't tolerate the cold, insomnia worsened and anxiety. My doctor increased my antidepressant which helped my anxiety but nothing else so I asked him to have blood test done and my TSH was 5.8 (0.4-4.0)is our lab range and my T4 & T3 were very low normal. C reactive protein was quite elavated as well as liver enzymes, prediabetic and elavated cholesterol. I have low energy, sore joints, sore and weak muscles and I break a sweat doing the easiest things. I also have crohns and take a gastroresistent antiinflammatory for my colon and I had a full hysterectomy almost 10 years which triggered me into major depression, anxiety disorder and insomnia. I just don't feel right and have low appetite most of the time and hate getting up. My doctor finally said that he would take my blood again in September because I had covid in July and it could affect my numbers plus it's a few months from last blood test. Thyroid issues run on my fathers side of the family as well as diabetes, heart disease, stroke etc I read that a low dose thyroid medication helps some people and some it didn't do anything. I am just so tired of not feeling good.

I seriously cannot believe that this video popped up right now! I was feeling so tired and yucky that I thought it was due to my progesterone. My doctor found that I have a low free T3 level and since I’ve been replacing it, I feel GREAT! ❤️ Sidebar. 100 mg of Prometrium was not quite enough to balance out my 0.075 estradiol patches, but 200 mg made me DIZZY despite taking it at night. I am now on 200mg compounded progesterone capsules- but have concerns based on many of your other videos/podcast episodes concerning compounding. I would love some other options to research on my own and present to my doctor during my next visit in a few weeks. Thank you so much for all that you do, and I am definitely going to be signing up for the paid subscription. This has been quite a journey for me over the course of the past year, so it is wonderful to have all of this information at my fingertips

Really lights up my heart that you have found this so helpful. I think that the compounded progesterone is probably OKAY - sometimes it is necessary due to side effects. Thanks for your support and you are doing GREAT!

My dr suggested my menstrual cycle changes could be as I’m getting older… I’m 28 😑 I went to her with large pieces of tissue, not clots, that I passed during menstruation. Ever since I was hospitalized with sepsis shock, endocarditis, and meningitis in 2018, my health hasn’t been right. I have so many symptoms of hypothyroidism but tests are always “normal”. Thinking there’s adrenal fatigue and an autoimmune disorder in there as well.

Great info! My doctors (cardiologist and my gynecologist) have refused to test more than my TSH even though my labs have changed over the past 18 months… 2.3, 3.44, and the 4. I’ve been having many of the symptoms progressively over the last couple of years 😐 I’m frustrated… I am willing to pay out of pocket for the testing. Do you know why some doctors refuse??

I see this comment a lot. It probably has to do with a few things 1. not know what to do with those labs an 2. the cost of health care rising ... Its so unfortunate. Keep being proactive! It's such a small thing in the grand scheme of things! You got this!

@@heatherhirschMD also, I’ve been binging on your videos and I have a question… should I get my hormones checked by a blood test and not saliva? Also… my gynecologist put me on bio identical cream after a saliva test and it includes progesterone 😐 she knows I had a hysterectomy at age 29, I’m now 50. I have menopause (or thyroid or something else) symptoms I HAD ALL OF MY SYMPTOMS BEFORE SEEING MY GYNECOLOGIST… heart palpitations, hair loss, dizziness/woozy feeling, brain fog, fatigue, insomnia and I’m sure there is more but after my saliva test she put me in the cream and told me I had “adrenal fatigue “ and sent me on my way with a list of supplements 🙃 UGH!!! I now know from your videos that BHT is not ideal! MY BIGGEST QUESTION… since I had my uterus removed over 30 years ago is HRT the safest thing for me to be doing…? By the way, cardiologist did multiple EKG’s, a echocardiogram, and I wore a heart monitor for 7 days… all came out good and just told me I have pvc/pac’s. I still have random heart palpitations and upper torso vibrations and I’m frustrated with basically just getting a pat on the back and pushing me out the door 😩 Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated… even just links to other videos you have that could help guide me on this adventure.

@@Sweetest_of_Seven, my TSH was 2.5, then 3.55 and now it’s 4.45. My doctor just brushed over it so I’m going to find someone to do a full panel on me. I could do my own labs, but then no one will prescribe the meds.

Go to another doctor. My GP checks t3, t4, tsh, free t3, reverse t3, and free t4. My old endocrinologist wouldn't do it, so I asked my GP. Gynecologists might do them, too. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Hello, love your channel, very informative. Can you do a video on acid reflux in perimenopause and is Estrogen dominance causing it. My estradiol is 1175 😢 and my doctor said not to worry about it. I can't get any help here in Ireland. Its like they don't know much about hormones / perimenopause.

Hi Doctor , My wife(29 yrs) is 10 weeks 4 days pregnant and her TSH is 7.29, T4 : 0.86 ng/dl. Blood Group B-, BP-120/70, B.W - 59 Kg. Hemoglobin : 9.80 gm/dl. ICT - negative. This is our first pregnancy, and we are worried about her elevated TSH levels. She was prescribed Thyroxine 25 mcg/day. Is this the right dosage? (cause we googled 2 mcg/kg/per is avg requirement), As we mentioned it is our first pregnancy we are really worried, So we would be really appreciate more insight on this issue. Thanks in advance .

@@crh251Yes, you need medication. Get your TSH, T3, T4, FREE-T3, Free-4 checked. Find a doctor who will work with you on your symptoms and NOT just the lab reports. Typically, they put you on a TSH medication, but many times, adding some T3 will treat the symptoms way better. Like weight gain, tiredness, foggy brained, etc,

Yes, there is. It's a blood test for female hormones. Have them check thyroid, too. You can definitely get hypothyroidism in perimenopause, menopause and beyond. You can be perimenopausal AND a hypo thyroid.

Hi Dr Hirsch. I’m age 51 female and have been post menopausal 3 years. Been on Estrace vag cream only for my symptoms. My TSH has been fluctuating from 3.5 to 6.06 for past 4 years (T3/T4 normal). Dr always says subclinical and doesn’t treat it. My symptoms have gotten awful and my newest TSH is 6.5. I just started oral HRT/ but am I doing the wrong thing? Should I be getting my thyroid treated first?

I have subclinical hypothyroidism. Around 5 almost 6. I read that under 10 can have risk to treat, bone loss and heart disease long term. I got .25mg but scared to take it because I don’t want anxiety, hair loss or bone loss. Now, these doctors said optional is around two and I should take the hormone. But I don’t like meds but I want to feel optimal too. So not sure if I want to try it but don’t want side effects. So I just deal with it. Idk. Do you try it??? I had a couple of doctors prescribe for me. So I think you should be able to get a prescription if you wanted…
