My favorite underated creature. They literaly just vibe everywhere they are. Love they're asthtetic, the gas mask design turning into a trunk. The babys are adorable. And they're defence is cool. Not to mention how soicial they are compaired to like 75% of the other creatures. SUPER underated

These guys saved me so much when i first started. If i were being followed by stalkers, i'd head towards these guys and they always scared them off

Gasopods make scary sounds. It sounds like they're just laughing at you while you're suffocating in their gas.

Gasopods are great for base defense, especially in biomes with aggressive fauna like Bone Sharks, Crab Squids, Ampeels and others. I always have 4-8 of them partolling my Sea Base perimeter as their Gas Pods don't harm my base whatsoever.

Quick tip: the propulsion cannon makes harvesting the unexploded pods for torpedoes really easy.

Best part of Subnautica: Gasopods randomly falling from the sky 👁👄👁

A safe and quick "Milking" method of the "Cows" is to use the propulsion cannon to attract the gas pod balls then pick them up from the propulsion beam with a swift left mouse click. 30 will kill reaper and dragon leviathans and 40 will polish off ghosts. Don't over milk one gasopod 2 or 3 harvests seems to be the sweet spot as their poisonous acid dilutes the more you scare out of them. Unfortunately the player still takes the same damage when the pods are later dropped onto the nose of a stasis held fauna and pops. But it gets less effective on the victim for some weird reason.

Plus two of these things dumping a gas cloud is enough to kill a reaper leviathan since it only takes 15-20 of their pods to kill one from full health.

One thing I know about this creature that it embarrassingly killed me while I was on 1 health from multiple crash fish attacks.

Looks more like a manatee or a seal to me. I didn’t even know these things were dangerous until I randomly took damage from the gas. I thought someone just wanted to make the funny farting manatee.

I had a great idea to gather gas pods, drop a grav trap next to a gasopod and hoped it would prevent them from rupturing...nope, instant death.

Forgets to mention gasopod protects your base from stalkers when they decide to come too close

you didn’t mention this, but you can actually very easily grab the gasopods poison balls by using the propulsion cannon. You can grab them with it and then pick them up.

I died from thirst on hardcore in subnautica. I was in the lava zone, and had the Neptune in progress...

I remember these as "the poopy butt mantee who are too much baked beans"

Those gastropods are the reason i lost my hardcore save with two days worth of gameplay. One got stuck against my base and released its pods around the entrance to my base. I waited for the gas to clear up. apparently the water remains toxic for a second or two after it clears up since thats when i went into my base and got the “you died, game over” message. I killed each one i came across in my next play through once i got the weapons to do so

What's annoying is there is neverending war with gasopods and stalkers it has been so long and still happening and so many dead stalkers and any poor animal that swims in to the gas (outside my house)

on my first campaign, I saw 2 gasopods, I took a photo of it I will never forget that photo

Seeing one swim towards my base at night with glowing eyes is horrifying
