If you have ever had a car not want to let you put gas in it at the fuel pump/Gas Station you are having a venting issue with the fuel system and your charcoal canister has probably came apart on the inside.

2013 Yukon XL I replaced purge solenoid, vent valve, canister, and blew out & shopvacced every accessible line, no improvement. So i replaced part 25860204 (all evap lines above tank), then it filled straight to 28 gallons. Zero clicks! The culprit was the section from the smallest canister connector towards the purge solenoid on the intake. With the old line out, I could bang loose the mass of pellets jammed in there, then compressed air could flow.

Giant problem now here with the heat. I think the hot temperatures are having some effect on the charcoal pellets getting clogged throughout the emissions tubing. Great video on showing the distribution lines being filled with the charcoal pellets. Wonderful description on how the gas pump shuts off every few seconds. Such a problem in filling. I never thought the vehicle could be the cause of this dilemma.

I saw a vid last year where someone took line off charcoal canister and used vacuum to get charcoal out. I did same thing and got a lot of charcoal out. Then vacuumed evap line from manifold to tank area and got more charcoal. I replaced canister, evap & purge solenoid. Now it takes gas and didn’t have to drop tank.

OMG!!!! Such a great idea!!!!! Did u use just a regular vaccum?? Please say more about this idea. where did you hook the vaccum up to? which lines? TY so much

@@81vampirelover I used a craftsman wet/dry vac with filter, loosened the 2 bolts on charcoal canister so it would lower down by several inches providing easier access. Unplugged the 2 lines that are together coming out of canister, got a smaller piece of rubber hose and taped to vacum cleaner hose. Turned on vacum and held rubber hose as tight as possible to hose end. The gas tank has to be about on empty or you will suck gas from the line. Wife opened and closed gas cap every few seconds. You can visibly see tank bottom lift up from the vacuum while doing this. Make sure vacuum has a filter. I didn’t think it was working but wife could hear the charcoal pellets going into vacum. I then moved to engine area and unhooked the smaller evap hose and vacuumed it as well. I learned this from another you tuber.

When you say you also vaccumed Evap line from manifold to tank area, what do you mean by “manifold”? Thinking of trying this

my 05 made it to 283k before the charcoal canister went tits up... seems like a stainless steel screen in the line would eliminate this problem. have parts in hand

Couldnt a mud dobber seal off the purge vent at the end of the line, at the fill nozzel?

Watching this 12 years after this video was posted , except I don't have an air compressor like you. Not sure how I'm gonna clear out the hoses/emission lines after I remove my vapor canister

Maybe a year and a half 🤔 😅 rent a small compressor and hose or buy a cheap one

You can hook up shop vac to vent line hose that comes off canister. Make sure you’re gas tank is near empty, and it’s is imperative you have someone else loosen and tighten the gas cap every few seconds to prevent gas tank from caving in. While vent line is disconnected from canister, you can also put shop vac on “blow” mode and hook it to where you take gas cap off and blow air through the tank. Again, make sure tank is close to empty

@haseleujames6169 That is very dangerous because the gas vapor and electric vacuum motor. 1 spark from the electric motor and you have a bomb

HEY PLEASE HELP ME!!! I have a problem of too much pressure in my gas tank. I can fill gas in it but when I turn the key off after driving it whines like a cow at the evap tank. My evap is beside my gas tank. I have a 2006 Wrangler . I have changed the pump (leak dection pump)on the evap. The filter on the evap. Gonna change the purge under the hood but I bench tested & it works. I have soooooo much pressure when I open the gas cap it almost blows the cap off. If I don't let the air pressure out the gas cap it pushes out the evap & screams for 10 seconds like a cow moowing. Any ideas??? By the way when the evap tank was removed to change the leak dection pump attached to it the evap tank did NOT rattle or have any carbon beads fall out of it at all, So I di NOT get a new one. I am NOT showing any codes . Thank you .

i saw somebody do that, but what about sucking gas fumes into an electric motor. doesn't risk xplosions. i need to do mine also/

im dealing with this same shit on my 07 shops wont just blow out the lines they all want to replace my tank smh wish i could find someone to do this for me it takes me like 30 mins to fill up barley squeezing the pump

@HotRodDave yeah I seen them, I have done the 3 parts already but don't have a way to do the blowout myself, I asked a shop and they just tell me I have to replace my tank not blow out the lines

@@bigkahuna2297 Thanks for watching. It's hard to get people to listen sometimes when everyone knows everything. I would suggest a mom and pops shop and not a big chain location.

@@bigkahuna2297you don't need to replace the gas tank. There's a canister purge valve that is known to be defective. They make the kit for 55 bucks. This does not include the charcoal canister. It's a simple repair to replace the purge valve. I would stay away from the mechanic saying he needs to replace your gas tank

Great video. 2013 Yukon just did purge solenoid, vent valve and canister, blew air into the open gas cap and covered driveway with pellets coming out the old lines before connecting to the new canister. Absolutely no improvement at the gas pump, so next I'll blow out from the purge solenoid back to the small canister hose where 90% of the pellets came out. I noticed how much heavier the new canister was than the old, that's a lot of pellets lost in the lines! If that doesn't work, then I'll drop the tank and clear that vent line from the tank to the big hose into the canister. I think ignoring this problem and forcing the issue at the pump just made it worse packing those pellets in. Live and learn.
