A little correction on the "bard core": it's not just about putting medieval themes/sounds/things into modern music...bards were storytellers who sang tales while playing an instrument (usually something that resembled a guitar). It's said that Ren is a "bard" because he does the exact same thing.

Busking is not just a street performance, it is a street performace where you ask for voluntary donations ... many places you need a licence to busk and it differs from permissions to just have a street performace ... as defined by the OED: "the activity of performing music in a public place and asking for money from people passing by"

I actually stumbled across L,L & H on their channel a couple of weeks ago when they reacted to Nightwish and was hoping they would react to Ren at some point. Love the format. 'Black Pegasus Inception' - I find myself watching Pegasus, watching the other reactors. Awesome. This format is really clever. Essentially, it offers a non-guided introduction for the guests, all while knowing what to say and when. They are great, yes, bring them back! I'm one who knew the word "busking", but I lived in NYC where busking (including calling it that) is common, and I now live in Nashville, where it also happens. Most US cities have ordinances against it, I think.

Man Robert I have to say man seeing your emotion as you watched Hi Ren with Mr Biscuit as your second watch, and now watching you watch it again with these ladies, I can just tell it had a big impact. You mouthed along with so much I just know you've been listening on your own even. Just to clarify, in addition to the mushy peas, UK people also pour on vinegar (that is what Ren is pouring on top). The other thing they can have with mushy peas is not gravy, but curry sauce that they use like gravy My SO is from UK and I still can't wrap my head around it. Although I'm from Australia and our thing is 'Chicken Salt' here on our hot chips

The Tale of Jenny and Screech and Violet's Tale is quintessential bardcore. It is the kind of social commentary that Chaucer especially was famous for. The whole thing is essentially modern Chaucer or Modern Classical literature, especially tragic literature. Not to take anything away from the brilliance and innovation by comparing Ren to anyone but that was my very first instinct upon hearing the three part story, with a background in classical literature. It's beautiful. Between the Bard Song by Blind Guardian (a song you should absolutely react to and a live version like the one from Wacken) and the Ren Trilogy, those are my favourite examples, even though there are many. I hope that Ren creates many more songs like that but they have to be organic, you can't force them.

The best thing about these reactions is I never get tired of hearing the songs over and over. With each listen, and each reactors fresh input, it just never stops being interesting.

This is no bullshit, he is the best artist out right now. IMO he is like the only good thing going on in 2023 besides some other artists on KZfaq, mainstream is wack wack. Another great reaction video . Haven’t heard anyone mention this yet but I see the end where he is going for it and singing and playing like a man on fire, as him joining his two halves, embracing the dance to show us he is better a a whole , greater than the sum of his parts.
