Recently I was having a chat with a buddy named Matt on Instagram, and he has an interesting question, it relates to him being torn between two paths in Jiu-Jitsu.
Here's the breakdown...
He's 42 years old, he's a purple belt, won a few big competitions at Blue Belt (worlds & pans), and trains at an amazing gym.
BUT...
He's having some serious neck issues, leading him to have constant pain when he trains, especially with his larger training partners.
He is also moving into this coaching role, and he loves it. However, the problem with that is he feels like coaching alone is not sufficient, and that doing this (coaching and not competing) makes him feel like an imposter.
He wonders if I have any advice to give him, or any perspective or ideas to consider at this point in his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu career.
I'll dive into the question pretty heavily in this video, specifically the idea of something everyone will go through: The death of the Ego.
I hope you guys got something out of it.
Thanks for watching.
