Yes, that scene was also extremely revealing as it shows that Eva knew just what a rotten human being she'd become at that point. I suspect her smearing cream on the mirror to block her own reflection is meant to suggest that even a narcissistic demon such as her could on occasion be disgusted by their own reflection. Although, alas, her feelings of contrition and self-loathing were ultimately short-lived as I recall, since I don't think Eva could ultimately resist walking past a mirror to 'admire' herself in.

It's interesting what people debate about Crawford nearly 50years after her death. She was never considered a great actress but that was exactly what I think she was . One only has to look at her performance in 1946/7 Possessed she gives one af the greatest portrayals of person descending into madness one the great screen performances with Queen Bee she plays to type but her charisma is astonishing. One of the great screen actresses of all time. What kind of woman was she we will never know!
