This is a DIY job that every caravaner, camper van or motorhomer needs to do and boy what a difference. It's quick & easy too.
In this video Dave removes the skylights and gets them back to something close to new again.
Products used, warm soapy water, The Pink Stuff, Vuplex and some spider keys to remove the skylights.
We were also delighted to get a visit from Alec and a few of his amazing birds of prey, stay tuned to the end to see more.

Hi ,great day for cleaning skylights😊 ,we would like to thank you on a great demo!, I bought our torx keys from screwfix ,one difference we found ours needed T10 and a T25, not 27 but our is a motorhome,maybe slightly different.we have done 2 skylights ,shower and toilet and are delighted. Alec calls to see us quite often and he has some beautiful birds of prey and owls etc, lovely chap too. I don't clean the roof every clean, maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Always a bit of a chore though. Thanks again, Dave

Hello Dave & Helen, Hope you’re both well. Gail was glued to the screen, she loved seeing the birds 🦅and she laughed at you Dave as you did your Father Christmas stuck in the chimney impersonation 😂. Our skylights could do with a clean but need to be mindful of the plastic barrels that take the screws, no doubt they will be brittle with age. I might try Fenwicks on ours so thanks for the video. Yes, I think they could get brittle, a few people recommended cutting a lemon in half and cleaning the Perspex with the lemon juice and a rotating motion. Happy travels, Helen & Dave

Dave, re your cleaning regime, we have a sterling eccles quartz and the front locker door doesn't always look clean with it being dark grey. So i have been using back to black on it and the difference is very good, also use it on the wheel spats. Cheers Nick.

That was a tight squeeze Dave 😂 I'd never fit 😢 got to do our skylights we washed ours the other week and they really need to be done. Like yours there in the same shape. Think that yellowing is the same as the head lights on older cars. Great video, mate Paul

@HelenandDave I tried cleaning our gasket like yours it has black discolouration. I tried pink and it works. But it will take most of the day so might need to look for something else

Two good vlogs on giving the van a good clean especially the roof lights,you must have been spying on me I've just done the same thing to my motorhome but the difference is this time my lovely wife bought me a cordless polisher WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! What a difference a good scrub makes! They look great. Another abrasive you can use is toothpaste with a bit of scotch bright or a scouring pad, then spongue down. It brings headlamps up a treat, and skylights too. It also leaves your skylights smelling minty fresh!

😂😂 minty fresh skylights 😊 which is best extra white shine or just a simple fluoride? Seriously though, love these tips, someone else suggested cut a lemon in half and squeeze whilst using a rotating motion. I’ll try anything (most things) once. Have a good weekend 👍

To get your body through a small aperture you might find it easier to assume the superman position ,ie one arm reaching high above your head and one arm reaching low by your hip…..we used to do it in industrial employment..to get our whole body into a narrow tube..

Glad you did this video as our skylights on our caravan are filthy, and I was put off cleaning them as I was too scared to dismantle them to clean them properly as it looked to fidgety. But seeing how easy you took them off, then I'll definitely give it a go myself now. Cheers Dave 👍

Dave to clean the top one just use a lemon cut it in half, hold onto the outer side and use circular motions, I used them on the SLK headlights it brings them up great

Dave i have the same caravan with the same MPK roof lights and the best thing i ever did was buy a Dometic Mini Heki for the one above the bed. Crystal clear see through and no more bits going in between the layers and over the bed Swift replaced them with these on the 2018 models onwards. Will be replacing the bathroom one as the best £130 i ever spent and took an hour to fit. Steve

As I mentioned in our last video we hoped to bring a live video from a site we were on this week, if the ‘technicals’ (4G signals permitted). Sadly not only did the technicals not work but we also had torrential rain & wind and we couldn’t get on line us we also decided to pack up and leave. We’re only just home.
