What's more insane that they are aliens is the fact that a senator's son is a neighborhood security guard.

That basement gave me the creeps and the worst uneasy feelings! I just can’t tell if Sugar actually sees her in that hiding spot or not. I am kind of leaning towards her being in the hiding spot because he says her name, but I think that she’s either dead or close to dead. Why did they have to leave the episode on that scene without telling us if she is there or not! Ugh!!! If she is dead, that is going to be awful because that means that the dad lost 2 of his children and that is just the most unimaginable pain ever.

I think Jen was missing, the serial killer had taken Jen captive, not knowing who she was, killed her and found out she was an alien. Which is why the group doesn’t want to get involved because he knows too much so it would be best for them to leave Olivia there and not rock the boat w the serial killer. Tape 44 is out because that’s his proof to show the world about aliens. Loving this show and love your recaps!

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a total twist though that no one has predicted because this show seems to really have so many options to work with. Loved the alien reveal now all of those video montages make sense it’s how he learnt how to be a private detective I guess. Really great writing

Can’t shake the feeling that Djen and Olivia are linked by something more…possibly genetically or some other way (secretly/physically) and that’s why John can’t let go of his search for Olivia, because he’s made an intuitive or subconscious connection which links the missing Djen to Olivia and that both of them being missing indicates the connection through and to the serial killer. As an outside bet, and after listening to your analyses, it made me wonder if the aliens hadn’t determined they were becoming too much like humans and had decided to leave hybrid or allied /humans to continue surveillance (Olivia’s sudden recovery and rehabilitation from drug use etc.also indicating the possible connection.) and so on…😮😵‍💫😊 Cheers. 👍

I think the grandpa is Olivia’s father and that’s who took the photos of her mom. That’s why Olivia’s mom was in that old dress.

I think the Senator and his group know about the aliens. I don't think the Senator's son knows. He was just gonna take Sugar to the cops until Sugar revealed he suspected a girl was held captive in the house. Then he had no choice but to bring Sugar back in the house, play along, but really get more info out of Sugar then kill him. The show stole the ending from Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...same dungeon. For me, the plot hole is Stallings taking Olivia and adding her to his skin trade. He seems to be smart enough to know that trafficking the daughter and granddaughter of a high powered Hollywood family would be a serious risk to him. Her involvement in killing one of his henchmen isn't a big enough factor for him to traffic her. Make it look like she OD'd, then the cops find her and that's the end of it.

I called the Alien twist after the first few episodes, and I believe this show, while surprising with twists, plays off of tropes - namely the gum shoe in a film noir. The other trope they could mine now are alien tropes (alien abductions). I’ve thought since last week’s episode that the missing girl plot line, along with the trafficking, leads to another reason the aliens are here: to experiment on us. Who better to use than trafficked humans. Why else would Ruby be in communication with a disgusting human like Stalling? Add that creepy basement room full of science lab equipment, right down to recording devices and it seems possible to me. They aren’t here to just watch and observe. Think about the line from Henry to Sugar that they could wipe us all out. They are here to understand what threat we pose to their existence. Most of the trafficked women are illegals that no one will come looking for. If they do, it leads to traffickers and not aliens. The explanation for Olivia being taken even though she’s high profile was due to Davey telling Stalling she knew about the trafficking. So the aliens want her gone.

I thought it was cool when she was typing on that alien communication typewriter, and there were some symbols on that device that were similar to the symbols that were on the bag of alien blood/fluid that was in the bathroom. And Ruby’s boss was standing there with her, and it looks like they got some kind of an answer from whomever she was typing to. Definitely communicating with the home planet. Also, now it’s clear that sugar (great name) wasn’t actually getting high, when he was using the drug, but rather returning home to his true form.

It's possible that their planet has become uninhabitable. Also, earth in the long run is uninhabitable for them as well. I believe that their true mission is to create a mutant race that will be able to live on earth. A 2020 Hulu film, What Lies Below had this plot. The greater good philosophy is Utilitarianism. Olivia is his sister.

I’m thinking his species excels at communication. I bet they are great at reading people via eye contact (oculesics), body language (kinesics), social distance (proxemics), touch (haptics), basically all the nonverbal channels that people communicate with. I think that’s how Sugar can tell people are truthful or not. I think his fascination with movies is also due to films being a very specific form of artistic expression or communication.

I think the senator’s son/serial killer, Must have tortured and killed an alien and that’s how he found out, or perhaps Olivia is sugar’s sister, maybe in some kind of disguise, and found out while torturing her…

I don't think that the senator's son took Olivia. I think that the senator's son kidnapped and tortured underage hookers, who were supplied to him by Stallings. Through Stallings the aliens found out what the son was doing. When Sugar will open the hatch in episode 8 I believe he will find an underage hooker and not Olivia. The aliens want Sugar to believe that the son kidnapped Olivia and made up that story about the Senator knowing about their existence. It just so happens that Olivia is being held in a similar place by the aliens. They want to send Sugar home and will continue their mission. If the aliens are really going back home then its pretty obvious that they are not planning to ever return back again.

Love the channel. I think Jen is Olivia and that’s why they have her held up/kidnapped. Waiting to expose her. I’m not so sure that they’re going to reveal that it’s actually Olivia under those steps however. I don’t think these aliens can just change things. Thinking this is like men in black isn’t what they’ve done here. Really cool show. Doesn’t need to be so much alien sci fi stuff to be interesting. Lists of suspense and mystery

When someone came to get Olivia, she was yelling don't you fucking touch me!" but when they show the person who opened the trap door, he really just extends his hand to her. He's not really threatening. That person probably moved her imo. I really doubt that was the serial killer senators son.

Kinda feel like Olivia is more to Sugar than what we think....

My theory: the politicians son had seen an alien in there natural form, this broke his mental health so bad that he’s capturing people he suspects to be an alien and experimenting on them to see if he can cause enough harm to them to make them show themselves as alien, or he’s trying to capture one to cut open and learn about there insides etc

You forgot to mention that Prior to Miller picking Sugar up with one hand in front of the Couple in bed & Melanie, Miller, after looking at all of the blood sugar lost at the Stallings House, Miller, knowing Sugar has serious injuries, punched him hard in the abdominal area prior to picking him up with one hand! Methinks Miller has true hate for Sugar! BEWARE of Miller!

Can somebody tell me why someone kidnapped Olivia in particular? She's a Hollywood producers daughter. I don't understand what the connection is. Or is that part of the mystery that hasn't been revealed yet? I think I missed something along the way! lol Thanks!

Why wouldn’t all of those numbered CD’s be aliens that were killed? Also, why was the guy in a security outfit being the senators son? Especially if he’s making the guard thing in his own house. Unless he’s actually a guard. But being a senators son and a security doesn’t make sense.

The whole missing sister thing is the one thing I don't like. Seems like that's always the thing - the guy loses his sister and he's looking for her. It feels too borrowed from X-Files.

This show really went off the rails. The writing is just so chaotic and messy. And the underwhelming twist really ruined everything.

Sugar revealing to Melanie was just a dumb plotline, not worth watching anymore.
