I definitely want a season 2 this show is the type of original work we need more of! Collin Farrell was great (everyone was great really!!) loved the gentle masculinity of his character. Loved the noir feel! Honestly, 10s accross the board from me! Chef's kiss! The little girl to me was a reminder to Sugar that humanity is not just violence and that being more human doesn't have to be bad.

Before we found out Sugar was an alien, I kept thinking about Mulder from X-Files when Sugar referenced his lost sister. But I still had no clue that he was going to be an actual alien.

Really hope for a season two. Colin was amazing in the role and the writing was excellent.

I called it on Henry last week. I really want a season 2, Sugar going after Henry! As far as we know they're the last aliens left on Earth, tie in the senator and let's go!

The nod to film noir, performance and pacing then the reveal which weirdly makes sense because of the nuances. Yeah season 2 was gonna happen soon as he stayed on earth

What a pleasant surprise this show is! I love the costume design, the film noir feels, the old movie throwbacks, the edge of your seat TWIST on who or what John Sugar is… the way we get taken into his thoughts (in the monologues he has with himself)! Great show & Great review!!

Here is my take, the show has morphed into a modern Scifi version of "The Fugitive ",Sugar will searching for Henry while the powers that be are hunting him down,very much like Richard Kimball looking for the one armed man while Lt Gerrard pursued him,actually a very clever way to reboot a plot concept

Jules nailed it. He took Mel's hands and "showed" her who he is. You can see from her eyes that she's experiencing something. Very cool scene. That will work well in Season 2 since she's the only earthling who know's his true identity...

Well I think the best compliment I can give you guys is I like and appreciate the show more after listening to your podcast, than I did after watching the show. This is why I watch this type of content. Thank you very much for illuminating all the little things I missed while watching this season.

More Sugar, please! One season is not enough. Loved Season one. Waiting the long week for the next episode told me I was hooked. Wish I had found this commentary sooner, but I'll be back next season for sure! That's how sure I am that there will be a Season two!!!

Great show. Also pumped for Season 2. CF needs an Emmy. Yea, between Ozark and his role in The Walking dead, Jason Butler Harner, he creeps a lot. Good villain. I’m thinking Sugar will take the job offer. It'll be his way to facilitate his life on Earth.

Great finale. "Sugar" was a Perfect Show; start to finish. Oh, btw: I believe Sugar told Melanie he was an Alien by telepathy. And, it was the most beautifully emotional scene in the final episode. As for the next season I see Sugar trying to find his sister, Djen, as well as Henry--while avoiding the Hit Squad sent by somebody (probably the Senator) to kill any Alien who is still on earth. Which suggests that there are possibly more than Sugar, Henry, and maybe Djen. Some viewers believe Ruby didn't return, and is also hiding among the humans. As for Djen, my theory is that she is willingly with Henry; and they are partners-in-crime. Watching, even helping, humans kill other humans. Which, as I said in previous comments, is the Mission that Henry is still obsessed with: WHY are humans violent? Why do humans hurt other humans? Kill other humans. Henry & Djen have been "seduced" by violence--which had been absent on the Aliens' planet, until "introduced" by Aliens who had visited earth before. Remember: Henry is a (Cultural?) Anthropologist. He studies cultures, and their differences. If I'm correct and Djen has, like Henry, embraced the Dark Side of humanity, it makes Sugar's quest in season 2 more "conflicted": the sister that he loves so much he's willing to give up everything for, is a Baddie. Thanks for the reviews/videos/discussions. I'll definitely be with you on "Only Murders..." and possibly with "Dark Matter."

This show feels like its based off a comic series

When John asked Melanie what kind of SciFi she liked it would have been funny if she replied, Galaxy Quest. Especially since he loves watching movies and learning about humans from them

This show has had a deep personal effect for me. I got my estranged dad to watch it with me. I knew he'd love it for the Old-Hollywood call backs. I was interested in the "sci-fi twist" they kept promoting, and wow did it pay off. We both loved it, and we have spent hours discussing the scenes referenced from the classic films and how they relate to the Sugar plot. Haven't talked to my dad this much in twenty years. Colin Farrell is a fireball. Hope to God Apple pushes forward for another season.

Ugh soooo good give this all the emmys. I will now say "l dont want to hurt you" whenever lm threatened (dosen't happen often... Canadian) and there best be a season 2. I think the Segels will be featured as John will be working for them as a source of income... as aliens... im not sure about their financial status. Bring on season 2 and 3... oh and Penguin!

Called it on Henry! Well ... More or less. Please please please let them not cancel this show. They have brilliantly ended it in a way that opens up so many ways a second a season could just up the ante. And Henry massively deserves to be Sugar's arch nemesis. The actor is terrific. And I'm still hoping Charlie isn't dead. It's the one thing that pisses me off.

Second season let's GO! So tired of streaming shows getting canceled. I pass on a lot of new shows now, because I so wary of getting caught up in something good only for it to be canceled too soon.

Penguin !!!! This has gotten me more excited for his role as Penguin because they are somewhat similar with the grounded crime thriller esthetic.

I loved Sugar and Melanie’s relationship. I liked it that they were true friends. There is way too much sex in entertainment and this was more meaningful.

The only thing that was whack about this show is that he states a few times in the show that he's a very good investigator and he'll definitely find Olivia, but in the end all his detective work was absolutely pointless, he wasn't even close to finding her, and he only locates her because one of his alien colleagues tells him where she is. Some investigator.

Am I the only one surprised that this particular serial killer kept Amelia alive for over 2 weeks? It feels like there is a bit of explanation needed-she fascinated him in some way, or Henry stalled the murder for Sugar’s sake, or something. It doesn't feel like it took young Pavic that long to get to hurting his victims. Look how quickly he was going to hurt Sugar, but Amelia was apparently physically untpuched.

Great show, really enjoyed your coverage of the series. Why some people don’t like certain things about this show is perplexing to me but not unlike anything else. There’s just those who want to not like things or maybe it’s just that they’re very very specific about what entertains them ??? Idk, it is what it is but I loved how this show did this and I think comparing to constellation is really appropriate as constellation is cancelled. I think constellation gave us so much that it came to be too too much and with sugar they’re giving us just enough. Dark matter is probably a better comparison to constellation but in the end it comes down to understanding what keeps viewers giving recommendations to watch the show and of course coming back for a second watch and a second or third season. The Henry call with his sister’s coat is such a Batman’s rogues origin gallery reveal. Henry says he “learned” and prob wants to stay on earth to be a serial killer and wants Sugar to chase him/stop him.

Check this out… John and Henry’s first encounter got me thinking about it… and later on the show, as John reached into the place where Olivia was held captive, seeing all those instruments, I just couldn’t help thinking… why did Henry order a garlic press? Maybe he wanted to “try” it on somebody and take notes? Considering there were many other recordings from the sessions, I assume they did torture many other victims as experiments… maybe Henry had room to elaborate and go deep in these experiments… just thinking

What an amazing show. I came in knowing nothing about it and got into the noir detective and then these great twists. A question that I have is did Henry take Djen on earth or back home? Cause if it was back home, then tehir alien race is not so pure benevolent like they thought of themselves as Henry was already flawed.

Such a great show and I hope they get a 2nd season. The viewership should be higher but not very surprising, as people often watch garbage.

Now every time I see someone in an old school Corvette I’ll ask myself if they’re an alien. Also, if we get a season 2 wouldn’t mind seeing them possibly going to a different city if necessary for the story, but also don’t mind it staying in LA.

Re: cop- i know whoever was being pulled over was getting wacked- the senator would have all those people on payroll. Henry like other serial killers likes to risk being caught, wants people to know in a bragging way. He repeated exactly what was on the CD and he probably left that specific CD out for Sugar to find. Like taunting him, could Henry outsmart him etc

This last episode, other than the Henry reveal, felt more like an epilogue than a finale. I thought it was the weakest episode of the season so far. That explains how he knew the address. But it doesn't explain how/why Ruby and the rest of the group knew about it. Good setup for Season 2.

So this is my last comment, and I will put my mind to bed. Amy Ryan... Gee whiz. I rewatched the finale (obsessed much?). And her acting is out of this world. I've rarely seen an actress so natural. When she gets the call just after fiddling through the liquor cabinet. Her reaction, and I had held it together until then, made me fucking cry.

I thought it was way too obvious that Henry was at the murder house. I mean how else would he know the address??? Plus I can’t tell if Henry is really a bad guy if he was just watching, just taking his mission very literally. But I’d like to see how he became a serial killers observer fleshed out in a season 2. I mean it’s kinda random that a serial killer would allow a witness to just watch. Also, I do wish they explained a little more about what happened with Sugars sister or gave further clues other than just giving us a dress. Lastly, I wish they explained more about who is hunting them and how they know about them. I pray these are answered in a Season 2. But these are just my gripes, otherwise great show.

It’s a fairly competent show. Is the twist an expert all timer like Sixth Sense, Fight Club, or Momento? Not even close…but I personally would welcome a second season.

I’m curious why we would want a second season? The alien thing was so obvious a few episodes in…in the end we get it, Sugar is a great guy, but why do we need a follow up? Happy he left the dog with someone who can take care of it, other than that it feels wrapped up.

I'd rather it finish as Oliver being his sister but if they can have a season 2 where he looks for his sister I guess that works

They cancelled constellation?!?! I hated the ending but I feel they needed a season 2 😫

Sugar says throughout the show that 'we don't kill people ', yet in their race they have baddies like Henry, so the race isn't totally peaceful, also the society knew about Henry, which contradicts their whole rule of observing people as Henry was an active part in the murdering. For me it would make more sense if the society didn't know about Henry, but only about senators son, and it was a shock to them too.

Why did Henry give Sugar the address of olivia? Makes absolutely no sense?!

Might be alone here but I felt let down by episode 8. Cast a shadow over the whole show for me. The build-up in prior episodes was well done but the resolution felt lazy. Why was everyone defending Henry to the point of almost getting Sugar killed? And then they’re all like cool see you on the plane back to our alien planet. Who killed Miller? That was dumb. The whole Henry also being behind Djen thing was also dumb. Would have been more interesting if the Senator dad was the other psychopath, and it would have explained the political pressure. Also in the end the alien thing made zero difference to the plot-he could have been a spy and the plot beats would have barely changed. Reminds me of LOST-big on hype, weak on payoff. It was an enjoyable watch, with a dumb final episode. Count me out of season 2.

Loved the show, hate all the grumpy reviewers who couldn't just relax and enjoy the ride.

I think this show is very sloppily written. It has the feeling of a writers room who don't exactly know what they're doing or where they're going. The ending with Henry was a mess that couldn't make its mind up. Was he a villain all along who kidnapped Sugar's sister? Or was he a good guy like Sugar who had his personality warped by observing humans and becoming more human? Lazy, sloppy writing that reminded me of network TV - not prestige cable. Colin Farrell is terrific. The idea has merit. The show is junk. Oh, and the cinematography is irritating. The show references classic film noir, but doesn't seem to understand it or care about its values.
