It's still really bad for a 6 year old to be en pointe, no matter how advanced she is, as her feet are not properly developed yet

Gee I wish I Could feel emotion no it’s still really dangerous because her feet aren’t developed and going on pointe when your feet are still growing could stunt your growth

For those of you wondering, YES she is way too young to be on pointe yet. 11-14 are around when you can start on pointe. It makes me wonder what her parents were thinking. It takes years of training to go on toe shoes. She could seriously hurt herself that way, i'm no doctor, but i know the growth plates in your feet have to be completely formed and solid before ever going on pointe, she has way more problems than not being on her block.

I was curious what country you are? I think some places treat the disciplining differently, especially China and Russia girls train very young and hard, gymnastics is pushed very strongly in elementary school and the young ones are capable of very extraordinary movement and stretches at a young age.

Viana Leland my mom is a professional ballet dancer and she passed away but she started pointe at 6 also and she was the youngest in pointe class but ok

Her poor feet! I have always learnt that your feet have to be fully developed before going en pointe. Also if you look she is barely on the blocks

Her landings are very loud and were bothering me. Also her legs were never turned out. But I loved her costume and she was adorable, even if she wasn’t ready for pointe

@@kileytk @MelankileysInfiniteSadness in general in dance it's considered rude to offer unsolicited advice when you aren't the dancer's teacher, and specifically if your qualifications can't be easily verified. I do think pointing out the faults in technique is helpful for untrained viewers, though, so others can see part of why so many are (correctly) saying she should not be en pointe. That child is going to to have very painful foot problems later in life.

Whoever her ballet teacher is I feel so bad for this girl. Like honestly who thought it was a good idea for a 6 year old girl to go on pointe? Her feet have not properly developed yet.

For everyone in the comments, yeah she's too young but she is clearly qualified. I don't think she should be doing an entire variation though. I would suggest something more basic.

It has nothing to do with ability, six year olds should not be en pointe, period. It's terrible for your feet when they aren't fully developed in the right way and it could potentially frick them up for life.

@@anfaanianfaani9819 I was thinking the same thing, if she stuck with ballet 🩰, and continued training en pointe for the last 9 years straight I’d be real keen on seeing her do a pointe variation again at 15 years old now. Would be interested to see how much her early start benefited her (or not)….

Oh my gosh what studio is doing this. I would refuse to sell pointe shoes to a girl this young. She’s talented but nowhere technique ready and she looks like she’s gonna break an ankle

She’s not on her bloch properly and It does not matter how strong of a dancer you are, it’s been proven numerous times that it is Dangerous to go on pointe with under developed feet. A teacher who cares would want to lengthen their students career, not end it early because they made a bad decision and ruined their students feet because of an aesthetic by putting their student on pointe way to young. Doesn’t matter where you’re located in the world this is a dangerous practice.

I think I'm traumatized. You should never put a six year old on pointe, no matter how strong or advanced they are. This little girl isn't getting over her box and is falling off every time. Not to mention the toe hops! Those could probably permanently damage her ankles if she does too many of them at such a young age. Also, the choreography seems a bit too advanced for her.

No, she is not good. Just being honest. It’s clear she is too weak to be on pointe. Her knees are bent and she is not standing correctly on pointe. Her feet are extremely weak for pointe. She is not pointing her feet at all. It would be best to make the corrections and do this properly with flat shoes where she can build strength in the feet. She is clearly not ready and this is sad.,

In my day they called them toe shoe ballet slippers & I was on toe shoes @ age 6. I retired after 40 years of toe shoe ballet dancing.

The thing is, when one has some ballet training, even if it's not much and even if one was never quite good at it, it's difficult to just go "Aww, how cute!". Our minds go more like "Ok, she's not 'good', she's a 6 year-old dancing like a 6 year-old. It's cute to watch, though. Wait! Is she on pointe?! 😱"

Honestly... How did she end up on stage??! what adult looks at this child and thinks "not only am i gonna allow her en pointe, but she can perform aswell!" She has poor technique and can't get over her blocks. She is just TOO YOUNG!

why does everyone say she's too young? I think it is a common myth - the danger. Only dangerous without the training, she dances well, not just a first timer. Proper use of shoes is fine. It's much more dangerous to stand on tips of toes bare feet, and I can say many many girls do it at home practice standing on tips of toes with just tights, she will be fine :)

Paula Rose you don’t understand, going on pointe before feet are developed will stunt her growth because it is affecting the growth plates in her feet. Also it is practically impossible to stand on the tips of your toes with just tights on. Without holding on to something the best you can probably do is stand in Demi-pointe. At this pointe it doesn’t matter how good she is or how strong her feet are it’s about her feet not being developed

Paula Rose I have been taking ballet since I was four years of age. Did not go on Pointe until I was twelve. Her ankles, toes and foot bones can become seriously injured if not matured. I am not saying she is not a good dancer, but every time she jumped I prayed she didn't injure herself!

@@efef3988 kinda silly as it’s more the Russian ballet schools / companies that are the best and not necessarily Russian dancers. I mean, they are full of dancers from all over the world, not just Russians… many of my American friends that continued professional ballet dancing after college were scouted & desired for joining Russian ballet companies

Who is is pushing this kid to wear pointe shoes? This is so not good. Her feet are way too weak and not even pointed. Knees are all bent. Best to wear flat shoes for a few more years and build strength.
