Yoongi is the bravest soul I know. To bare himself the way he did on this epic tour and album was incredible. The military are honoured to have him. I can't be prouder of him than I was when I sobbed watching him. I'm glad he made it through his door and into a new journey.

Shaving hair is part of the military uniform - uniform means alike - because in the military, everyone is part of a unit, and enlistees must follow orders to be successful, so individuality does not lend itself to being a member of a unit commanded by a superior. The members' military service will bring new vistas to them, and they will have additional topics to write and sing about. All of us change over our lifetimes - so will the members. I expected Suga would be next, and I think it's wise of him to go right away since his service time is going to be a bit longer than that of the rest. This rampaging with cars being driven into crowds and stabbing innocent people is now a common occurrence in many country's. We have had our fair share of this type of incident in the UK normally called lone wolf attacks and usually terrorism is the culprit. This is the world we live in now. It's usually European country's that witness this type of incident to have it happen in Korea is quite a shock. Condolences to the victims and family's who are now coping with the trauma.. ❤

I had a feeling that Suga would be going into the military soon after his concert tour but then he actually showing his friendship tattoo made me think its really close. Then on Weverse you got the actual message that he started the military enlistment. I understand he has to go and that he is proud to serve his country but it still makes me sad and made me cry some. First, my thoughts are with Korean people who are living in fear of stabbing incident. This also shows that we, ARMYS need to be aware of the surroundings when screaming in excitement. I agree the service can help them to remain in touch with the issues, struggles and joys of I guess you can say "the common man" they are at a level in which they just don't have to deal with the same struggles as most people, not that I think their life is perfect, but it is harder to relate to the issues they have to deal with. When people first started wanting their exemption I felt that if they had to go then at least they would be able to relate to the same struggles of all South Korean men when it comes to having to take the time to do their service. I hope it helps them in their music as I continue to wonder what chapter 2 is going to look like and keep wondering if I will still relate to it. As for Suga, I am wondering what will happen with his service. I know everyone believes he will do a civil service, but he hasn't even started his enlistment process till now so how would we actually know if he was given the exemption to do the civil service? Plus this is something that has not been confirmed by hybe or suga. It is just a story in the media that everyone ran with. And I know Ive watched a couple men actually in the south Korean military, like generals or lieutenants and they made comments about how if he can do the concerts and dancing and stuff that he is fully qualified to do a regular service. Yes, I look at other news outlets other than those that cater to ARMYs. Plus, has Suga every even said that he doesn't want to do a regular service? He has said before that he will do his service when the time comes, how do we know he didn't mean doing a regular service just like everyone else? Im not against him doing a civil service, I just don't like believing something without any sort of confirmation. And I have never met Suga and don't want to assume I would know what he actually wants. But, that is just my opinion. 💜

There is a practical reason why they need to have their head shaved. You can't have long hair in combat, it gets in the way, and can get you shot, also who do they need to impress?. Suga is definitely going soon, he always gets upset when something is ending, he feels very nostalgic, Rm is not far behind either.

Re the hair: it's always possible he'll look even cooler, like RM does (IMO). Suga can't look bad. We know his heart (what he's shared with us). It's a new phase -- he seems to be embracing it, and luckily it's hitting at a finally healthy time in his psychological journey so that's a thing to *celebrate*!

My opinion is that if you are true Army and really care about the members not only as your favorite K-Pop artists but also a people we have to give them space to grow and change. We are not the same people at 16 as we are at 30. We live life and gain experiences which change how we feel, act, believe, how we look, etc etc. They are not the same people that they were two years ago, all have gone on to release their own music, Yoongi has toured, Hobi did Lollapalooza. They have had to give interviews by themselves, etc. They will not be the same people in two years when they all come back together. They will be stationed at different bases, interact with different people, laugh, cry, and live independently from one another. They will be different when they come back and we have to be okay with that!

Hi Dave, I read it when it was confirmed by BigHit that Yoongi's military enlistment was confirmed. I was really shocked and that happened very quickly... but I have to say Yoongi is a sweetheart you saw how he cried bitterly at his concert and just couldn't stop because he knew that this day would come and that now it would be day has come'' when military service begins. Although he wasn't actually ready for it himself, he had to accept with heartache that the time has now come for military conscription. I also shed a few tears when Yoongi cried so bitterly. But Yoongin is definitely a brave man, with a brave heart, he'll somehow manage to get over the fact that unfortunately it has to be for two years, because that's just a cultural rule. Because in South Korea it is regulated that you can join the military service up to the age of 30 and beyond that no more. Yoongi is just the age where he still has to go into military service because it is mandatory in South Korea that has historical and cultural backgrounds in order to defend the country and to preserve the culture and the pride of the country. I'm proud of Yoongi that he accepts it and that he can do it like that, no matter how difficult it is for him to leave his other bandmates, he still wants to do it because he's proud of his country, he said himself and that he's proud Being Korean and therefore also wanting to serve for your country.

Its all 7. No matter what, they will go into military and have shaved heads.. I will love them all no matter what as they loved us no matter what. Let's be patient and watching over them in military or not. BTS forever right ???

I can’t take the thought of Suga shaving off that gorgeous head of hair- even if it WILL grow back 🤔😑 The sooner he goes, the sooner he’ll be back. I also agree re: James Cordon. I think he genuinely is crazy about all the BTS members. Last thought: Dave, you mentioned a gentler and kinder BTS. I think that’s exactly why it’s more difficult to accept a more aggressive, stronger-worded language in lyrics of songs that the members released individually. Both RM and Suga used quite a bit of profanity in their albums, and of course Jungkook’s “Seven” explicit version didn’t set too well with a lot of fans. I think they would prefer to think of JK “loving them all night”, as opposed to him “f-ing them all night”. Not very romantic, in my humble opinion. 😖

Oh well, All other famous Kpop idols have had their hair shaved and did their military service just fine. Yoongi will be doing social service, Probably working in an office setting. After basic training he will be able to go to his home at night. Sleep in his own bed. He won't have it hard like actual regular military soldiers. He will live, and Army will live. Life will go on! You people act like BTS is the only group that had enlist in the military. And YES he should have his hair shaved. My Kai had gorgeous hair. All idols get shaved. No one is entitled. And if, like BTS, they make new music after military service and a lot of people don't like the taste of music because that means they'll lose a lot of fans, BTS won't give a damn how he should build on the fans, than how the fans will be lost just because they Just don't like musical taste the way it used to be. It's still like I said BTS decision and not the fans decision. But you can see what the future of BTS looks like two years later, but I'm also realistic. BTS won't be forever because BTS will only last three to four years... and then at some point they want to have families with children and marriage . Understandably it was also a hard business life and then at some point after all these years we also want to lead a normal life like any other normal citizen who also has children and family and lives in a marriage... no matter which one Direction. So first let BTS serve the military and the members who have been in a long time finish their service and the members who just came in graduate and then when all 7 members have completed their military service we will see what happens in 2025.

Korea is a Country where no one raises their voice in public because it is considered a serious lack of respect. So yelling in public can obviously only be due to something very serious. The girl who screamed while watching Suga's live was not alone, there were some girls together and they all started screaming together, showing total disregard for the social habits of the host Country and a total lack of respect for the other passengers and a total incivility in general. A few days before I heard about Suga’s enlistment, I thought RM was going into the military and i was crying my eyes out until i heard him say he wasn’t leaving yet. Then i heard about Suga and I just…I couldn’t cry. I just felt numb. I don’t think i even really believe it even though there’s an official notice. It’ll hit me eventually but I feel bad for being able to feel sad immediately after thinking RM was enlisting and then just feeling numb and shocked when I hear about Suga enlisting. Idk what’s wrong with meeee 😭😭😭

About what happened in the subway, I think the Army's reaction was exaggerated, demanding apologies, because it's the biggest fandom in the world, they should set good examples and that doesn't always happen, unfortunately. Suga's enlistment leaves us with a bitter taste in our mouths and a sinking heart, but we all already knew this was going to happen, while the words of "goodbye" on live that they will reunite again in 2025 renew hope that the separation does not go much beyond the allotted time. I disagree with putting the blame on Suga for what happened on the train. That is definitely not his fault whatsoever. I agree the military experience meeting young people from many walks of life may inspire new songs and stories to tell. I heard the S. Korean is eliminating the central email where they print messages and deliver them to trainees in favor of bring your own device method so trainees get access to their mobile phones one hour a week. If we know SUGA like we do he'll be writing songs while on fire guard at night.
