Yep - I tried to visit when I thought it would be at its most quiet - early morning, but it was still busy.

Nice new concept of street exploring. I stayed a few times at the the end in nanatai suites. good cheap hotel. I hope it's renovated by now :)

80 years of age here, allow me to help you. I say- leave your wife at home and go for the hookies. I have been married three times in my life and divorced equally as many. Point is: they didn't want me to go to Thailand. My last wife told me: choose, it's either me or the hookers. I am sitting outside the "Happy Retirement Massage Parlor" and that tells you what I chose. Ah ah! Life is awesome

Right next to the Family Mart is a nice massage place where I always stop by to get a 1hr foot massage. The staff is very nice and someone will run out and pick me up a beer if I need a fresh one during the massage. Also, the Swan Inn/Restaurant has some nice food for this Soi. I have been going there for years. Nice vid!

Yup, eaten in the Swan Bar, as I know it, many times. Good, cheap and varied food. And it has pool tables behind glass at the back, or it did last time I was there!

LOL - apparently the man who is holding up his hands at the camera is a scientologist. One of the those generic images I got off the internet to explain my point. Something - I have to say - you are very good at yourself in your videos ;-)

Lol - I went down there at 8 am in the morning but even then there were early morning revelers and people who took offense at my filming. If I had gone down there at 10 pm it could have got nasty. I walk around with my camera on a gimbal so I stand out like a sore thumb.

Well done. I was wondering if and how you were going to cover this Soi. You were actually able to maintain your integrity as well as your legitimacy of being a non sex tourist informational guide to the magnificent city of Bangkok.

Thanks Will - Truth be told I didn't enjoy filming in this soi. It felt a bit like snooping, but if I was gonna do these soi walks as a proper series I didnt think I could just leave it out. People would have questioned why I didn't film there.

I saw the Tacos sign in the very beginning of your video across the street from the bars. I assumed it was from the the Taco truck that I had seen parked in the Nana Hotel parking lot well over a year ago. Something about a Taco truck in a Bangkok parking lot that just cracked me up and made me wish I had a camera with me. Apparently the hamburger place replaced the Taco truck. As you know, better than I, the landscape of Bangkok changes on a daily basis.

Yep - Danish born and bred but lived in the UK from 2000 to 2017. Now living in Bangkok.

So that area beyond the blue sign is public space owned and operated by the Thai tobacco monopoly? My favorite joint on soi 4 is "The Tavern". It used to be owned by an American named Scott. Sadly, he drank himself to death and died last year. Hope some establishments are foreign-owned. Seems to be such a narrow spectrum of job-opportunities for foreigners overseas.

Hi IKYK and thanks for the comment. I need to visit the Tavern to try their breakfast at some point. Yes that space at the end of the soi seems to be Thai tobacco territory - no idea what they use it for.

Great idea to review the breakfast at the Tavern. I recommend it. It has stayed in business for over ten years even though it's just a hole in the wall with no prostitutes working the room. Clearly, bar-markups on booze to enthusiastic male drinkers is more than enough. BTW, did your assignment in Shanghai finish? Hope it went well. I enjoyed the video you posted of one of your first meals there. Shanghai was truly Blade Runner-esque on the day you filmed.

Yep all done In Shanghai. I had a long-term post that I quit there. Just didn't enjoy Shanghai that much and my job there even less. Now I am living an easy life in Bangkok but that can't last forever. Everyone has to make a living and I will be returning to Denmark probably around November time next year.

EatSleepBangkok Wow. Enjoy the break from work while it lasts. If I pulled the plug on my employment situation I might be able to last about 18 months. I really should do it. Current grind not worth it.
