Lac operon gene Regulation | Glucose, cAMP and CAP - This lecture explains about the regulation of lac operon in prokaryotes including the catabolite repression of the lac operon regulated by the cyclic amp and cap protein. This lecture also explains the gene Regulation process of lac operon in presence of glucose and lactose.

If anyone is wondering how to remember the relationship between Glucose and cAMP. Here is a way (Not accurate by just to make sure you remember). Glucose means energy and energy means ATP. ATP gives energy and becomes ADP and ADP further loses energy to become AMP. So, when glucose isn't there, think that ATP tries to gives energy and becomes AMP. So AMP is more when Glucose is less and vice versa Just as a side note, cAMP is a part of GS coupled receptor which finally activate Protein Kinase A. Glucagon (hormone to break Glycogen to maintain blood glucose. Opposite action of Insulin) binds to the receptor increasing cAMP in the cell which ultimately activates Protein Kinase A which activates the Glycogen phosphorylase enzyme and breaks Glycogen. So, again use this to remember. Less Glucose means Glucagon activation and Glucagon activation means increased cAMP. Eventhough this is purely in higher eukaryotes, use the general picture of cAMP and Glucose relation to remember even for Prokayotes :)

I didn’t do so well in my class last fall semester. I am taking the class over with a different approach. I am understanding more as I watch your videos. It's been said so many times, but I might as well say my own thing. Since people want to learn quickly, then don't see your videos because they assume it's too "long." I admit it was the same, but when I watched these videos, I immediately understood every single thing because the way you format your presentation makes absolute sense, and I really wish people knew about you more. I have a Genetics exam this Monday, and the way that my professor taught left me not knowing anything, and really worried about this exam because I don't know where to start.
