Hi Reflourished level designer here, about level 5 yes it was playtest without the dialogue, we usually add dialogue after the level got approved, we never let un-playtest level in game but we will take note about this in the future

28:20 - Bug Zombies have a value in their code that allows the bug AND the zombie to instantly die if enough damage is dealt to them. I think the value is something like 1000 or so. Might be lower and im just going off the top of my head here for that, but thats basically why they both just die instantly. Pretty handy to know. 3 and 6 were my children this time around. Since before we even began planning this LTE, I knew I wanted a "christmas in July" level as it seemed fitting while also being funny. The Infinuts and Holly Barrier´s were added right before the event released to help players with the objective, as it was a lil too stingy and could be lost if you simply arent careful. They provided some extra aid and fodder plants, and the infinuts helped against fishermen. 6 on the other hand banned every consistent slower and staller, making for a hecticly fun level. We did have some debates on who to ban though. Kernel made the cut because he was inconsistent and thats a stun, not a consistent slow. As for other levels I do need to address 8, a level that was strangely buffed right before release as if I recall correctly it used to have 5 strawbursts, but it was changed, and yeah that probably shouldnt have been done... Lotta people struggled with that one, and understandably so. It asks a lot out of players, primarily paying attention, but its not unfair (at least not unfair compared to other problem levels we´ve had in the past). I found it okay, but it could have been better for the more casual players for sure. And finally 10, which during development had a few issues similar to CD 10. We made sure that this one wasnt unfair like CD 10, with the main problem this time around simply being sheer zombie spam. The creator (who also made CD 10) is REALLY trying to be more fair with these while also making them challenging, and well... I´d say it paid off. The addition of extra starting sun makes the early game more manageable and the late game is still as strong as before it was added, so it balanced out. Really my only gripe with this entire LTE is that King of the Grill was barely used. Wonder how we didnt catch that one...

44:23 I get what you mean, Flag. For me, it's this, but instead of winter melon, it's Boom Balloon and Jack o'. When there's just constant zombie spam, like that of an endless level on steroids, I just have to cut having fun on the LTE to complete the last level. Thats one thing that makes me enjoy Altverz slightly more than Reflourished. There's a lot more dynamic features and level gimics that reflourished lacks. I also appreciate the sun meta, and making sunflower (single) the primary sun producer again, as you used her in the Neon Mixtape Tour levels of this LTE. Hope to see you play more Altverz!

44:33 For this level I used: Dusk Lobber - main attacker. it's really good against hordes and usually my go-to when dealing with hard levels. Gloom Vine to power up the Dusk Lobbers + meat shield. Sunflower - meat shield, especially against shock waves and boomboxes + extra suns. Twin - main sun producer + meat shield for unexpcted zombies like All Star. Shrinking Violet - mini Cherry Bomb + counter throwing Imps from Gargantuars. Hot Potato - sometimes the Octos can overwhelm Dusk Lobbers so they do come in handy. Hurrikale - For emergencies when the zombies are too close, especially watch out for Goth Punks. Squash - I always bring Squash as an instant and for emergencies in most levels. My playthrough went really well. The only threats that are worth mention is the occasional octos, Goth Punks and unexpected All Stars as they can get too close to the plants and overwhelm Dusk Lobbers.

for the last level, maypop + power lily did wonders, I’ve never destroyed a final level that badly before it was actually quite fun

For the Zombert rematch I used Jacko and Banana. I had some close calls (and I had to use some PFs), but it was a really nice strat to use. Jacko basically carried the first 2 flags of the level, and then the second half was better handled by Banana.

I beat the last level of the event with Electric Peashooter and Cold Snap, those two have also carried me through a lot of the Penny's challenge levels, genuinely a great combo

44:33 Boingsetta and Ultomato worked for me. Boing chilled the field and removed speakers/octopi and Ultomato eviscerated everything else. I didn't even focus on the slider tiles; I just used Primal Sunflower spam to wall off the zombies

For the final level I used witch hazel + imitater, pretty good and fun if you stall long enough early on and bring crowd control instas. Other options include dandelion imitater, ultomato at the back, rotobaga/starfruit/bloomerang spam

Amazing event honestly it the first event i played since i started playing reflourished mod I like really liked it. As for my level 10 plant selection: 1.Twin sunflower for sun production 2.shine vine for sun production boost and extra protection 3.starfruit for early game and GOOD attacker overall since his range is great against speakers and zombies 4.winter melon since i need great LTG attacker 5.squash for early game 6.stallia for stall 7. Hot potato to counter oct zombies 8.jalapeno incase octo zombies goes out of hands and insta-kill I was able to win level 10 FIRST try i am really excited for future events to come.

For Level 10, as soon as Zomboss mentioned Zombert I assumed the worst and just defaulted to my usual Penny's Challenge setup, lol. Primal Sunflower, Winter Melon, Banana Launcher, Shrinking Violet, Squash, Teleportato Mine, Thyme Warp, Cherry Bomb. Banana Launcher did most of the work, the Winter Melons instead got slowly added throughout the level. BL can take out Zombert's green arcade cabs in about three shots, as well as pick off Octos, octopi, Boomboxes, speakers, what have you, anywhere on the lawn. Gargs as well, a banana and one Squash/Shrinking Violet will dispose of a full health Garg.

Erm, Winter Melon, and i think blastberry vine with Boingsetta for grid items and many Cherry Bombs

I always thought zombert was pretty cool zombie. Glad to see him back for summer nights (going off of the thumbnail though) can’t wait to see what’s in store today though. Edit: ummm so. For Level 10 I used the absolute classic strategy that is tile turnip + bowling bulb. Utterly obliterates the hordes, but it did have a little trouble with the arcade machines...

I actually used peapod torchwood to beat the final level. I used imitator to get a faster recharge on peapod. Infinity nut helped with the speakers while goldbloom & twin sunflower was used to produce sun. Peavine helped me when I wanted to plant food torchwood but at the same time do some serious some damage. I cleared it first try!

Played Lvl 10 with Snow Pea, Rotobaga and Bowling Bulb just for fun, surprisingly worked well

Level 8 may have been bad, but hey, at least it’s not as bad as the majority of the levels in the Children’s Day event.

How did you beat Level 8 using only TWO attempts? Wow Anyways for Level 10 I beat it in one attempt using Ultomato, Boingsetta, and a bunch of instants, I'm sorry but after Level 8 I was too drained of energy and I just wanted to get the event done with

Personally, I use cold snap apple mortar combo for harder levels. It works really well and is pretty fun. You should try it out!

i remember losing 20 freaking times on level 8 and winning the first try the day after.

For last level I used 1 column of peapod and 2 of dazey chain. Lava, squash & ghost pepper for aoe. Stunion & gumnut for support. Primal sun survivability letted me gather lots of sun which was needed for arcades.

For the final level i used a combination of e pea and pyre vine as my dps and it worked

For some reason I found level 9 to be the easiest. I didn't have to use a single lawnmower, and I had extras to work with as well on top of that.

For level 2, my guess is that strawburst’s projectile starts at a slightly different place depending on the timing of its animation, and that just happens to be enough of an offset to hit/not hit a tile obstacle.

This was sure a good thymed event, even if Level 8 was considered tedious to some. 44:33, Well, I used Ultomato to beat Lv 10. For me it's always fun if used right, for any sort of backup I had Iceweed and Boingsetta, which I was surprised that the latter gets rid of the Boomboxes completely before more spawn in some waves after. I also brought Explodonut and Ghost Pepper... along with Pumpkin, don't ask why.

44:33 I used pea pod spam and it worked wonders lol I often look at other completions and think to myself, "What uncommon plant that most people don't use can I try?". This applies to my runs of Penny's Challenges as well. I have used winter melon once for only Double Shuffle lol. Sometimes, it's not the attacking plants that you pick. It could be the supporting plants surrounding it that probably don't fit, or maybe it's how you approach the level/certain waves in the level that can lead to a loss. It's good to look back on some of the losses and analyse what went wrong, y'know? Simple changes like where, when and what order you place your attackers in can completely change the outcome of a strategy. Of course, there are still situations where the plants you choose are just not fit for handling the level, but even that comes from looking at the losses and identifying the causes.

I havent played since the Close Encounters Penny Challenge

lvl 10 was quite easy for me, I used Apple Mortar for my only attacker and a bunch of stalling and instants, even brought solar tomato since I know every lvl 10 deal by now and just made a wall of Apples and ot turned out great as a 1 attempt lvl 10. Level 8 was extremely frustrating to me though, took 8 attempts and the use of some poweups, I just can't

I used a random assortment of plants for the final level Like i genuinely don't remember my thought process, i picked primal pea, ultomato and jack o lantern And somehow it worked

In lvl 10, i used dusk lobber + gloom vine, with cherry, teletater and chard guard for support

For level 10 I infact did peapods and torchwood with peavine and a few stallers and cherry bomb and won with no trouble. I guess it just comes down to which stallers to use

"winter melon over and overa gain' i hate to be that guy; but kinda a skill issue like yes winter melon is really good but for penny challenges and this level finale i dont think ive used winter melon once - for this finale i used electric pea; turkey pult and pea vine with ice bloom; ghost pepper; intensive carrot; boingsetta and then primal sunflower ive managed to beat a fair few penny challenges using electric currant and redirection. heck; for the great deflate i played it three times and on my final one made a strat with kiwibeast; magnifying grass and spikerock work - and in the most recent one that wasnt the new one this week i managed to use moonflower plant food; banana; garlic and electric currant as my main strat for some penny challenges they definitely feel restricting but this finale and most the challenges recently ive found have let you get pretty loosey goosey with it
