This year I'm going in a different direction. I'm doing bbq ribs, 2 garlic and herb beef roast, bbq meat balls, and a ham. Greens with smoked pork neckbones, potato salad, baked mac and cheese, chicken and yellow rice perlo, dinner rolls and deviled eggs. And different desserts. And I'm doing all the cooking myself cause I don't trust NOBODY ELSE FOOD LOL 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

This year for my family I'm cooking, Turkey wings and dressing, candied yams, corn pudding, greanbeans, mashed potatoes and pea salad. My Cousin will bring a ham , Mac and cheese and a dessert. I will bake sweet potato, pecan and buttermilk pies, a Carrot cake, German chocolate cake and Pound cake (key lime or butterscotch). My Granddaughter is making a sopapilla cheesecake.. Too much I know but we love a good Thanksgiving Feast!!!

This year for Thanksgiving I’m making: ham, smoked turkey, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, jalapeño spoonbread, smothered green beans, greens with neckbones, candied yams, yeast rolls, pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie. Some of my family members are bringing applesauce cake, sweet potato soufflé, homemade cranberry sauce, chocolate cake, and deviled eggs.

I have seen people using bell peppers in their greens, has anyone tried that? I usually onions but never peppers

People always add your turkey 🦃 juice to your dressing first and then add a little chicken broth if you don’t have enough turkey or chicken juice, chicken broth does Not have that good flavor like that turkey juice does, when you take your turkeys or chicken out of the oven drain all the juice out of the pan and that’s what you add to your dressing for only use chicken broth if your turkey doesn’t produce enough juice 🥰🤗

I start cooking for the holidays 3 days before. That way I'm not stressed out I prep cut up onions, Bell peppers, and garlic and freeze in freezer bags. Make my cornbread days ahead. Sweet potato pies, pecan pies, and freeze. Peel potatoes, cut up put in a pot and cover with water until the next day. Shortcuts to help.

I'm a crafter (not of food, but of many of other things--handmade bows are my specialty), but I struggle a lot with my hands as well. Especially when I'm getting ready for crafting shows or have huge orders, there's no time to stop. I unfortunately have the onset of arthritis in my hands, knees and ankles, so I understand somewhat. I use compression gloves and have braces that I wrap very tight on my hands to help with the pain. Also, I soak them in Epsom salt! Again, thank you so much & I hope & pray you and your family have a blessed holiday!!

Honestly I have no clue. Im leaving on Wednesday to spend sometime with my kids. Once i get there their mom and i will figure what were going to be cooking. i got to have my sweets lol. so cheesecake, sweet potato pie, two-three cakes. I think i might start the sweets before thanksgiving.

We're having stuffed Cornish hens because in our small family, my daughter hates Turkey, her husband likes it, her daughter barely eats anything, my mom loves Turkey and I have a meat allergy. So Cornish Hens, Ham, a vegetarian holiday roast for myself, Mac n cheese, green beans and potatoes, (meatless for me), homemade cranberry sauce, my homegrown baked sweet potatoes and rolls. My daughter ordered these mini sweet potato pies. So I think that's it.

Hey T you remind me so much of my Mom. She was much older than you in her (70s). She passed away in 2019. But boy I tell you, she tore down in the kitchen!!! LoL just like you a GEM! A soul food delight! She made everything from scratch!! biscuits to bread, the 4 layers cake the Pound Cake, Sweet Potatoe Pie the old school way. As you said when cooking your greens our momma's used water the old school way and the seasoning was on POINT!!! LOLLLL as you display all your pre- Thanksgiving meals you remind me so much of her. And that’s even with being on a schedule, time just gets away & before I know it I’m putting finishing touches on things & guests are arriving. This year I took a shortcut & ordered my ham from the Honey Baked Ham store to save myself some time spent in the kitchen & give me more time chilling like everybody else!!! lol 😁

I was in kitchen helping her side by sideat young age of 11yr old and till this day i can cook my ass off i dont like restaurants food i enjoyed my own home cooking allllllll from scratch.and i neverrrrrrrr ever forget that either.. i cook for big crowds of family and friends.. i enjoyed my kitchen by my self..i just plan ahead of time.. with no help..because the help slowed me down.. making sure they do the right thing..i wish i was in kitchen helping you out soulful T.. get some of your sons and sister Tia, and the rest of them to help out that lot for you to do by yourself....dont burn yourself out.....after all they all are adults....

Soulfult please dont throw your stems away off those greens they are small enough they will just cook down through those greens PLUS SIS IM A SOUTHERN GIRL FROM ARK raised by parents and grandparents that had many gardens and those greens with a little stem cooked in provide the best immune support to help the body fight off colds,pneumoniA,flu etc. And always save your broth and freeze in ziploc bag to have on hand in case someone gets sick. Put in pot n let warm n let them drink that broth. HONEY HONEY U TALK BOUT GOOD FOR HEALING THE BODY. TRY IT SIS. Much love. Marilyn
