The final arena can easily be surmised by the meme "ooo, piece of candy!". Just replace piece of candy with medikit.

I really like the caco hole in the third fight. It's such a cute little detail and adds quite a lot to the fight, although it's still fairly easy. But it's interesting to see how the arena was altered solely to allow more mobility for the monsters

Man, that really got spiced up at the end! Another suggestion for the new video series: Swift Death by FrankFRAG. 32 short puzzle fights in tiny maps, but you have to figure out the solution for each one.

I think that this map is where I gave up on playing Sunder. Not necessarily because I couldn't beat it, but I had no intention of actually maxing the maps, so there was not really a reason to keep going. this means that most maps after this will be a blind experience for me!

if i had a nickel for everytime Decino got hit for 1 damage by a Cyberdemon rocket, i'd have two nickels, which isn't alot but it's weird it happened twice.

I clicked this video faster than the speed of light. Memes aside, I'm really surprised you took Sunder upon yourself, this is a notoriously hard WAD especially the last maps. I know this is the 7th video of sunder out already but man, I'm really amazed! Props to you! Can't wait to see you play the rest of the wad even if it means waiting a few weeks for the next video cause that's how hard it's gonna get later on haha! Good luck!!!

I think slaughter maps needs training and a lot of patience. Plus you really need to like that style of play. Someone told me to start with Sector 666 and raise the bar from there. Trying and dying since then.

It's not as inaccessible as you think. If you're not afraid to use save states and skip maps you're not enjoying you'll enjoy yourself a lot more. And keep in mind there's always lower difficulties. But if you want something more accessible and less... grindy, there's a whole world out there, I couldn't recommend Haste enough

As a Doom pleb I actually like this map. It strikes a nice balance between fun slaughter and annoying tedium (well for the most part anyway). This kind of gameplay is actually quite fun once you get into the groove and make enough room to move around the monsters but it can take a while to find maps you actually enjoy.

*whew* Alright I'm back from watching the whole thing with decino having Cyberdemons infighting Hell Knights and Baron's and Pain Elementals are everywhere with Lost Souls coming out and yes as I said before this map is insanely difficult of how you take care of things properly without screwing yourself up is never a good thing. 18:26 That part I find specifically funny scene and I don't think decino has these kinds of scenes on every map he plays. He is awesome and all but seeing stuff that is funny to me is honestly never easy to find unless someone else here pointed out stuff that I never noticed but you know, I only skipped the tutorial stuff just to see something funny here and yes this is one of them. Sorry I responded too long which is only because the point of this post is to watch the whole video before commenting here and as well as having fun here. Again sorry about my bit of an odd behavior here. 😞

Great video! The final fight was awesome to watch. Its always insane when you manage to pull off your backup plans in case things go wrong, it shows the experience and the skill that you managed to adquire throught all this years. Well played!

A rare instance of Spidermama being a threat. Going from 3 Hp to winning that final fight was very impressive. This video reminds me of the Sunlust videos that I've watched... maybe I should go back and actually watch that entire playthrough, some time.

Loving this playthrough. I have lots of nostalgia for Sunder 2009. It’s such an incredibly strange,unique and brutal mapset. It was the first time I saw a slaughtermap with such a striking visual style.

bro, the mental fortitude to go thru this many demons is mind boggling.. I did the control center with project brutality and 300 enemies doom 2.. I was feeling burnt out by the end.. thats insane lol... 👍❤

I don't understand how you're able to focus on the game whilst explaining what you're doing in such a calm voice. I can barely keep track of what is going on. I'd be dead in under five seconds and you sound so unconcerned. This whole series is giving me massive flashbacks to when I used to watch Okuplok's runs of Sunder on shitty school computers, holy hell. I could recall being amazed (and looots of what I know is circle-strifing) but I did not remember how _gargantuan_ the monster count is, and that's without Arch-vile ressurections. The Doom community sure changed the meaning of difficulty when you consider that the first official boss(es) were the Baron of Hell twins.

The penultimate fight had a blue armor that I don’t think you picked up. But that’s the only fight that has an extra armor. Great video, very nerve wracking, and that’s just from watching it!!

28 minutes and almost 3000 bad dudes to kill. Yup. We're in a Sunder map. There's the pain elementals flooding the mortal plain with their bullshit. Enough meatballs to go with all that spaghetti that is the pile of demon corpses. It's a lot of spaghetti. And it only get worse.

It sounds like a cyborg duck frantically quacking at machine gun speeds. Definitely unique and has character but also not my taste in sound design. That's no big deal though. For me, the real problem is how loud it's mixed compared to other sounds in the game. Other wads address the volume issue, but sometimes they replace the cyberduck with a generic pew-pew laser sound with less personality :-/

The one time I decided to play a Sunder map, I chose Hollow Icon because, based on the demo on TheLonerD's youtube channel, it looked really interesting yet still seemed to be pretty intuitive at each stage. How wrong I was. It ended up taking all afternoon to finally beat the one level, with hundreds of reloads in total. I'm glad to say that I've been there rather than always watching from the sidelines, but I'm never going back, and I have mad respect for the people who go the extra mile and actually try to single-segment these absurd marathons.

Later Sunder loves its cramped fights and archviles, but Hollow Icon is almost perfection. I'd be all over an even larger map with this visual style and gameplay.

Watching you play this inspired me to give beating it without saves another shot, and after quite a few attempts finally got it. For the fight at 3:40 I ran back to the starting room (which makes the monsters crowd the nearby window) to save ammo and chill, and I admit to using the blue key room cheese, but it still counts. It's usually the last two fights and the corridor with the barons and cyberdemons that get me though.

Formerly map 9 of Sunder, and the first map that started development after Insane_Gazebo made the Doomworld thread. I think it did see some changes from its first version, but I'm not sure what they were. Also, the only Sunder map that uses an original Doom track, Demons On The Prey from E1M7. Grinder used a remix of Suspense, the E1M5 music. And the only one of the really slaughtery Sunder maps that I can reliably complete. I don't know what it is, but I can just deal with the fights much easier than in any of the later maps.

10:51 - "Do we go for another booty blast?" When something is that dummy thicc, the answer is always yes. 16:07 - It is nice health now, also at 21:53, and again at 24:48. These are why you succeeded on your 4th attempt. Mm-hmm. Congrats on this run, man, coming back from single-digit health is such an adrenaline rush.

Continuing my thoughts on sunder maps Map 07: This is an interesting one, I feel like the colour scheme is amazing, again brown and red being one of my fav colours. However it just feels, incredibly standard. If there was a basic definition of a slaughter map it would be this. Nothing that special going on, and honestly a nice breather after grinder
