And Yet thr Holy Progeny Never wanted a divide, went out of their way to prevent splitting the Ummah and unite everyone in the name of ISLAM not in the name of anyone's governance !! They chain linking us together is Allah, Prophet Mohammed saww and His Holy progeny as the upholder of Islam and Sunnah, why not strive to find commom ground instead of provoking and enhancing so called differences ? Let the Quran be the guide and we can start by observing Mawaddat of the family of Prophet saww (Mawaddat Zil Qurbah)

The problem arose when the Ummah was brainwashed into believing certain personalities are above reproach just bacause... 🤷‍♂️ We started upholding a 'Person' rather than a 'Character' that displayed the True Essence of Islam.. so a particular Person became more important than his Character ! Didn't the Prophet saww say Even if His Daughter Fatima as. should commit theft, She would be met with the same punishment of getting Her hands cut.. (Not that She could though) So why should anyone else who briefly enjoyed Prophet's company be above reproach and above Allah's Law ?! The ideal 'Character' that displays the essence of Islam is certainly Prophet's saww Himself and after Him, of those He raised since birth, with utmost care, to reflect His own virtues... We really have nothing to fight if we can agree to have the Prophet saww as our ideal to follow and after Him those who ressemble Him the most in virtue, regardless of who got the seat of governance, and start judging 'Everyone' against the Laws of Allah and Sunnah and realizing them capable of making mistakes.. Otherwise the yazids will keep cropping up, just like today's corrupt Muslim leaders who are enjoying immense power and previlege at the expense of the Ummah, because no one can dare tell them "no corrupting the Laws of Allah" 😶

The majority of muslims betrayed imam ali in 3 civil wars and betrayed imam hussain in karbala, then submitted to the ummayyads who cursed imam ali on the pulpits for 50 years. The quran literally states that the people of madina are firm in hypocrisy so the fact that they are always mostly sunni is not really positive. But I believe that rather than sunnis trying to argue with shias we should be uniting at a time like this rather than discussing differences (unless there is an appropriate time held for such a discussion). because we shias could also waste time arguing we just dont see how it is productive at this time.

Dear brother, I'm writing a reply 5 years later but a couple of key points. 1. You wrote that Makkah and Madinah were never Shia cities. Imam Ali (as), being the first Imam if the Shia moved to Kufah and his first son, our second Imam, Imam al-Hasan (as) lived there as well. Imam al-Husain (as) was martyred in Karbala. The vast majority of our Imams (as) were in Iraq and those that lived in Madinah such as Imam al-Husains (as) son Imam Ali ibn al-Husain al-Sajjad (as) and his grandson, Imam Al-Sadiq (as) were suppressed and not allowed to teach the correct teachings of the Messenger (saw). So it's just logical that the cities where they lived and became martyred were the centers of their followers. 2. Also you wrote that Imam Ali (as) said be in the middle and stay with the majority. It's true, but we Shia don't exaggerate our love for him. Those are the Ali worshipers. Think about it. The saying from Imam Ali (as) says "kill them". Imam Ali (as) executed some Ali worshipers. So that can't be us. Also stay with the majority is what all of our Imams (as) have taught us, that's why the Shia have always attempted to reach Muslim unity. But we can't compromise the truth for the sake of unity. In the same book Imam Ali (as) critisized and condemned the three former caliphs before him. As I see it us Muslims should see our differences as a family who has the same core and are related to each other but differ in some things and as long as we don't learn to agree to disagree we won't be able to unite. We must learn to agree to disagree and unite on our common grounds.

also he said the entire ummah agreed on abu bakr, umar and uthman, I think he forgot about how none of the 3 had any consensus among the ummah. Abu Bakr was appointed by the khazraj clan in a secret meeting at night without 99% of the sahaba there, and if the prophet's sunnah was to not name a successor directly thats what Abu Bakr did for Umar, then Umar made a 6 member council which is a bida however you look at it. Imam Ali, Abu Dhar, Salman, and even Zubair refused to pay bayah to Abu Bakr until they were forced to, Abu Bakr's supporters disagreed with his choice of Umar because of his harshness, and we all know what happened with Uthman- practically every sahaba and the wives of the prophet including Umm Salama and Aisha were against him only the Umayyads supported him.

Unfortunately, the Prophet saww had adviced Imam Ali a.s. to fight for his due right (of Caliphate) if he could gather enough supporters. 1 lakh 25 thousand pilgrims have said to have attended the last sermon at Ghadeer, most showed their allegience to Imam Ali a.s., and yet at the time of appointment of a new caliph, Imam Ali a.s. could not manage to find even 40 faithful supporters in 6 months to initiate his campaign, that was when he finally gave Bayt.. What does it say about the Ummah uniting ? 🤷‍♂️ The same goes for Imam Hasan a.s. His own party left him alone severly wonded. Imam Hussain a.s. received help from somewhere between 72-150 odd men against millions.. They never had a significant number of supporters, let alone a majority, so the majority did chose the other side.. 🤷‍♂️
