Travis... thanks for the review.. Recent new subscriber - have watched several of your reviews.. Great content... and kudos to your editing/cuts... nice job!... FYI - I had ordered the SF-B1714 about 2 weeks ago - it should arrive next week. My first choice was the Schwinn IC4 or Bowflex C6 but those models are 10+ weeks min for delivery. So went with this model after reading several positive reviews - I knew that you would be reviewing this soon... and after watching your review - I decided to consider other options NOTE: See an extended comment I added to Mark Waller's comment.. I ordered the Echelon Connect Sport from Walmart - both are due to arrive in two weeks... but I'll return one... but I'm big time on the fence...

Hello Richard and thank you so much! It really depends on what you are looking for. For what it is, I thought this bike was really good. It is simple and does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it does what it was built for very well. Like Mark said, you can still hook it up to Peloton and get a great workout. My concern is for those that think this is going to mirror a Peloton experience. Different seat, no clip-in pedals, no mount so would need to figure out tablet mounting solution, no weight holders and so on. Hard for me to say if this is a good match for you because I don't know what you are looking for, but this is a good bike and could be a great option for a lot of people. Hope that helps!

@@Learnwithtravis I ordered and received the Echelon Connect Sport from Walmart. (Still waiting for the Sunny SF-B1714 to be delivered). I have done two 1-hour rides with the Echelon. PROS: Very quiet, very smooth, Using the Echelon App for Cadence, and using the Peloton App for the rides. CONS: Not much... but wish it had a more high end resistance. at it's highest resistance - sitting is tough, but when standing it could use a few more gears. Seat is so-so, Pedals so-so, wish the handlebars could be adjusted forward and back... but all in all... not bad for the price point. Still waiting for the Sunny to be delivered - 3 more days... still on the fence...

Running through your videos and love the tip about the wider bike seat. When I got the Peloton app, I switched my bike seat to what everyone was saying was a better seat for the rides. That narrow seat was the biggest mistake I made! Because I began riding 20 miles from a 3-5 mile history (those videos just shot me to a new level!!) but, I developed saddle-sores that ended up sidelining by wonderful bike experience because I continued to ride on that narrow seat! I am not heavy, but I am older and I am returning to my original wide seat🥰 Thanks for reminding me not to be so hardheaded about what I think I’m supposed to do! Great channel content, your a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Haha! Thank you so much kd mud! Those seats can be tricky because what fits and works for one person perfectly is another person nightmare. I do know a lot of people have enjoyed the Komfy seat cushion if you need a little cushion. I have a video about it somewhere if you need me to find it. 😀

Hi Mark... My first choice was the Schwinn IC4, or the Bowflex C6, but they are out of stock on most sites with a sliding, optimistic delivery date of 10 weeks! I read many reviews on the Sunny 1714 model.. Some great some so-so... One major concern I had from several reviews was damaged-on-delivery as it seemed the packaging was suspect. In the end I wanted a good Magnetic resistance Spin Bike and saw this was available from Walmart... so I ordered it a few weeks ago... slated for delivery - Nov 27. I was waiting for Travis's review ...and came away with a so-so feeling. I had IC4 and C6 envy and hovered over the BUY NOW button on the Bowflex site.. but didn't' click... I then took another look at a) what bikes had good reviews and b) which ones were NOT out of stock. I looked at Echelons site... all of their Models are out of stock... but saw the scaled down version of the Echelon Connect Sport was available from Walmart....so... I ordered that this evening... Long story longer.... My Plan... is to return the Sunny 1714 model and keep the Echelon Connect Sport... but then I read your positive comment and I'm back on the fence.... My Plan was to do exactly what you have done.. Wahoo Cadence Monitor, Heart Rate Monitor (via Apple iWatch), and subscribe to the Peloton app.... but then I watched Travis's review.... and the loud sound, etc and subdued "it's an Ok bike..." etc made me re-consider my choice... QUESTIONS: Do you agree with Travis ... the sound is a bit loud? How many rides have you had? ...and how long have you had it ? I'm getting 2 bikes delivered in 2 weeks - this one and the Echelon connect - and will return one of them... Like all bikes - Some had the Sunny 1714 rated very high - missing the cosmetic extras ( display, sensor, Tablet holder, SPD Petals, etc) but a good solid bike. Other reviews stated either dead on arrival (damaged) or that after 3 months a loud clicking sound or that a pedal broke off - and more concerning was most indicated horrible Customer support from Sunny. I should mention I'm from Canada - and some reviews stated - warranty and/or support outside of US was nil. signed... conflicted in Canada :-)

Thank you so much for all that great information Mark! Good luck with your decision Richard. I have not tested the Echelon Sport yet, but my gut says you will pick the Sunny. Just a guess and I am very curious what you think. Also, to be clear, the sound from the 1714 is really not that bad. Most magnetic bikes I have tested are silent so I am comparing against that. This bike makes enough noise to annoy you only if you want silence. Otherwise, it is probably not a problem. To Mark's point of this bike being a beast, it is just built stronger with a focus on strength and resistance. While simple, if that is what you are going for, this can be an excellent bike. Plus, like Mark said, you can still add some features and get the Peloton experience. Hope you love one of them and let me know!

@@Learnwithtravis Hi Travis.. I have been using the Echelon Connect Sport for about a week and 1/2 now. The Sunny SF-B1714 I ordered in early Nov, finally arrived last evening. As many others have reported ... Sunny does not seem to do well with their packaging/shipping... The box was delivered in a box that was quite damaged. Big chunk out of one corner was missing exposing the pedals and the other end of the box was split wide open. I did not want to risk opening and assembling for fear that the bike was damaged and then have to attempt to return to Walmart. I'm certain that the SF-B1714 is a better option than the Echelon Sport Connect I have - especially at high-resistance but following along with the Peloton classes I can still get in a good workout at about $250.00 less its not the best bike.. but good enough and I didn't want to chance assembling the (SF-B1714) with the box so damaged. So in the end - I returned the SF-B1714 back to Walmart this AM. Enjoying your reviews.... take care.

To update a Use Case, this would be great for Apple Fitness+. These bikes can be upgraded easily to make it your own: pedals, seat, cadence sensors, iPad holder, etc. They are sturdy, well built Devices If you don’t want to be locked into 1 system and have flexibility of choice. And you may have money left over to purchase some high quality upgrades.

Hey Travis, thanks for this great review! Quick question for you, would you recommend this model or the newer Sunny SF-B1711? From what I can tell they are very similar bikes but the B1711 comes with duel clip in spd/toe cage petals and a slightly different build/design.
@Learnwithtravis
@Learnwithtravis 3 жыл бұрын
Sunny has a lot of options and from what I have seen, most are very good bikes and the main different is the features on the bike and if those work for you or not. If you want to ride more seriously, the pedal types you described are much nicer. (These can also be easier replaced if you find a model that is perfect for you but the pedals are the only problem. Hope that helps. Short version - Sunny seems to be really good as a whole, so pick the model that has the features that best suit you.

Thanks for the videos Travis. They are very informative and helpful. I am trying to decide between the Sunny 1714 with the 44lb flywheel, NO performance monitor for metrics and 330lb weight limit and the Sunny Synergy Pro 1851 which has the 40lb flywheel with the performance monitor for metrics and a 300lb weight limit. I am turning 50 years old this year, 6'4" and just recently here up to about 315lbs. I feel like I would want the metrics display for cadence, distance etc, but am worried about being slightly over the weight limit. I am usually below 300lbs but went up here in late fall and winter. I bike a decent amount approximately 1,000 miles a year for the past 4 years with a hybrid type flat bar bike (approx. 14mph). I really want to get a nice indoor bike that will suit my needs so I can bike throughout the year as I live in the midwest. I'm leaning towards the 1851, but my two concerns are flywheel size and weight limit. Will the 1851 work for me or not worth the risk as I am slightly over the weight limit? Is there a noticeable sacrifice by having a flywheel that is 4lbs less? In theory I would like to do the Peloton classes etc, but I don't have all of the I-devices that it seems you need to make it work. I would more than likely use in conjunction with some spin videos that I could bike along with and try to do more interval or hiit type riding. Hoping you will be reviewing the 1851 soon. Thank you!
@Learnwithtravis

Hello Alan and no problem! I can't speak to what Sunny would say about being over the weight limit, but I do know I have heard a lot of people say they start by remaining in the saddle until their weight is appropriate for the bike. My assumption is that the biggest risk when riding over the limit is in the pedals as that is where all the force goes and when you ride out of saddle that force is magnified. So maybe starting in the saddle until your weight is in line with bike limits might be an option? As far as flywheel size, I doubt the 4lbs different would matter that much. I would probably focus on the bike that has the features you would enjoy more long term. The Peloton digital app can be loaded on quite a few devices these days. I would recommend checking out the website to see if you have anything compatible. Good luck Alan and hope this helps!

Thanks Jon! Somewhat depends on your situation and how you plan to use the bike. If you are hoping to find a Sunny Health and Fitness, I get the feeling that they are all good bikes and you can pick the one that has the features that best match to you. The 1805 and 1714 are both great bikes. Of the two, I felt the 1714 had a little better resistance (Both were good but I would give the nod to the 1714), it had a larger seat if you want more support, good adjustability, and I believe a great weight capacity so it is built strong. Not a lot of bells and whistles but a strong, great resistance, get the job done well bike.

Hi Travis - thanks for your videos. Right now I’m between the B1714 and the B1805 that you reviewed earlier this year. As a note, I’m in my mid twenties and am planning on sharing this bike with my wife. We both enjoy a nice, hard workout but don’t want to spend the money for a higher end bike. We don’t care a ton about specific metrics like RPM’s etc. we just need a reliable bike that can push us. My initial impression from your videos is that the B1714 might have more resistance but have a less optimal seat than the B1805. Is that fair? Do you have a recommendation between the two? Thanks!

Thank you Craig! I have not tested that one. What always throws me off about that one is the small flywheel. They usually say heavier is better, but I have to assume they figured out how to make it work or it would not sell and it would not have so many good reviews. The only other thing is that is only has 13 resistance settings. I usually like bikes with the knob because you can make micro changes. Push yourself a tiny bit harder or take just a bit of resistance off without making larger swings. If that does not sound like a big factor to you, this sounds like a great bike. Those are the only things that stand out to me. Hopefully I can test it some day.

AM leaning toward the SF B1805, OR THE SYNERGY OR SYNERGY PRO and FINALLY THE SUNNY B 1877 ... at 5'2" adjustability is crucial, and only the 1805 has 4 way seat AND handlebars. Comfy seat is important, but can be swapped out if too hard, and dumbbell bracket would be great, but I assume one could be added later... What are your thoughts on these FOUR ranging from just under $400 to about $650? Oh, I DO want a monitor with metrics including RPM if possible, though I'll prob use a wahoo Cadence monitor... I'll be using with my apple watch, and iphone/and or IPAD... TX again.

I have only tested the 1805, but the biggest question I would ask yourself is how you plan to ride this? If you are going to be doing light to medium aggressive rides, I think any model could work and you can pick the one that has the features you prefer. If you plan to do intense rides and want the bike to really push you and have better top end resistance, I am leaning towards the Pro or 1805. But I am guessing a bit as I have not rode them myself.

@Learnwithtravis 3 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that I have not tested the sf-b1002 yet, so my take is a little one-sided. But...the 1714 has a 50 LBS higher weight limit which makes me believe it is built stronger. This is what I noticed when I tested it - built strong. The resistance on the 1714 seemed up to the task that a 300 LBS person would throw at it. So I would probably lean towards recommended the SF-B1714 but that does not mean the 1002 would not be a great option as well (weight limit is listed at 275). Good luck Zimrri!

Between the two bikes I received, the 1714 had better top end resistance and range which I think would be important based on your needs. The Peloton Bike+ is a very high end bike but as far as resistance quality and ability to have good range (easy to very hard resistance) this bike did very well. I was very impressed with the resistance I think most people would find it to be high quality and challenging. As far as maintenance, properly cleaning the bike after workouts so the sweat does not get to places and start to cause build up.
