It’s really something coming back to this video and remembering the hype we all had for.. not the game itself.: but the Super Best Friends playing the game together. The amount of speculation and commentary about David Cage’s games past, present and future is laughter to my heart. The fact that these experiences are no more.. and may never be replaceable is making me really reflect on how sad and barren KZfaq has become without them...

I think your missing the fact that Plague is a bit of an overliteral sociopath, as he's missing the emotional thoroughline is "you will die, but you saved the girl, mission successful. You did good" whereas Plague seems to think Woolie is being literal in that he likes the "mission complete" TEXT
@Entropic_Alloy6 жыл бұрын
Why is Woolie not allowed to think that the ending part of that seems cool? The idea of a "Mission Accomplished" message for an Android as it is about to be destroyed after saving a life sounds like it could be emotional. Just because the lead up to it is stupid and Cage will mishandle it doesn't make that moment not good.
@Puckosar4 жыл бұрын
@@ramjet94 nah Plauge's not an idiot, pretty sure he got what Woolie meant. But still, the whole mission complete bit on its own isnt emotionally powerful or anything but it can be with the proper context.

The two-threat thing is like this. There is no *immediate* threat to anyone, but nobody knows that going in. The "side of the building threat" is the girl being knocked off the building or shot if people decide to open fire. The gun is basically just to prevent people from getting too close before the demands the android lays out are met. But the whole poking around the apartment putting legos together to reconstruct the crime that we already know about is dumb still.
@louiesalmon39327 жыл бұрын
FancyKerbloops Yeah, the two-threat thing doesn't bug me that much. I mean, if I was that guy, I'd grab a gun if I could. And gathering information for the negotiation seems to be the point of the investigation, but the fact that the dude is right outside makes that seem really dumb. I can't wait for this game to be good for a bit, and then completely fail to follow through.

Isn't Heavy Rain still technically better than most Telltale games and Life Is Strange? Given that your choices can actually affect how the game ends and not some mediocre middling plot-line that has nothing to do with the overall story like most of these have been?
@odeghy6 жыл бұрын
Not really. Heavy Rain is still a poorly written mess with a story which straight up doesn't make sense at all. It's a shame because Heavy Rain actually had a lot of potential to be pretty good.
@natetuimaseve74266 жыл бұрын
Odeghy "It's a shame because (blank) actually had alot of potential to be pretty good" describes pretty much every David Cage game.
@Necrogigas6 жыл бұрын
That's something of an apples and oranges comparison. All of Cage's games are self contained stories, so there can be radically different endings based on player decisions. The Telltale and Dontnod games are meant to have sequels so there's a greater limitation on the impact player choices can have.
@voltekka476 жыл бұрын

'sigh' i love these guys, but i love David Cage as well, and that puts me in a confusing area of interest. I genuinely enjoyed Heavy Rain, it certainly has its problems but it's one of my favourite games of all time. I've seen all of Best Friend's Cage LPs as well as the Woolie live stream. And I am up to date with everything that has been released about Detroit, and it annoys me severely that both Woolie and Matt seem to have not seen ANYTHING about Detroit despite harshly criticising it and only because its a Cage game. The demo Woolie talks about was shown a whole year ago at last year's E3 so there should have been enough time for them to appropriately view this (which i think they only did once on their 2016 E3 livestream). This demo clearly indicates that the android Connor is both a detective and hostage negotiator, and he's analysing the crime scene despite the crime still being taken place BECAUSE he's trying to collect Info on the rogue android, hostage etc. in order to have a successful negotiation. This scene even highlights a system where you SHOULDN'T analyse the scene too long BECAUSE THE HOSTAGE SITUATION/CRIME IS STILL BEING TAKEN PLACE! The game literally explains and debunks their criticisim!
@MedioTaffy7 жыл бұрын
Woolie did say that he'd like to be proven wrong and said that he didn't have context of that scene

This was the demo they had on the floor at the E3 this year, I walked past the booths and demos they had ready for it. And in this video, Matt talks about how he played this demo, this year, either at Pax or some other con. Also, if a crime involves an android why couldn't they remotely shut them down, you can literally buy them at a store in this game's world, so their should be almost no possibility of an android 100% accomplishing their crime loo r rebelling, because their owners, the police, their distributers, and their manufacturers should all be capable of remotely shutting down individual androids. Also a negotiator does their job either over the phone or outside of the building that the crime is taking place, they don't directly confront the perp, they don't go looking for evidence to profile the perp as the crime takes place, a PROFILER gives them a profile based off of prior crimes or based off of how the conversation with the perp goes and what they know about the crime so far, or if the negotiator profiles the person they're talking to, they're doing it based off of intuition, what they can gauge from the conversation they're having and any prior knowledge they have on the perp and the crime at hand, a negotiator doesn't walk right up to a hostage taker, and if snipers are used they're hidden on rooftops, not in helicopters hovering directly above the hostage situation. All of the things in that hostage situation are how not to handle a hostage situation.
@perplexus38936 жыл бұрын
A_Fetish_4_Gaming I can respect your feelings and realize it’s bad to dispute taste, but heavy rain didn’t make much sense. Why would the origami killer be investigating his own crime without even *thinking* about committing it? How does a fairly rotund man get broken glass through many feet of crawl space he couldn’t fit in (and Ethan, a much skinnier man, barely fits in) all by himself? Why does Ethan’s wife leave him after Jason’s death, despite Ethan having little to no fault in the incident, then rat him to the cops on a suspicion that the cops IMMEDIATELY focus on (which cops rarely do with real life serial killers)? It just.... seems like it was written by a man who can’t keep his own plot points straight to be honest. Also, as another wiser, (Mango) man has mentioned Negotiators NEVER confront a perp. Instead they try to find common ground with a hostage-taker over a phone (pets, family, favorite sports team, ANYTHING) and try to connect with them and talk them down. It’s like talking down a person considering suicide, but other lives are at stake.

Why don’t these guys write an actual game or something? Continuity in normal writing is hard enough, imagine writing with branching paths in mind...
@Dragonage2ftw6 жыл бұрын
Also, you couldn’t be farther from the “details don’t matter” and “David Cage is just putting what he thinks is good and bad into his games.” It’s the opposite, actually. He’s lamented the fact that he’s been forced to add action scenes to the games that were just supposed to either be about life (Heavy Rain, Beyond) or being forced to remove the elements that tie everything together (Indigo Prophecy) by Sony. He’s talked about this a bit, but almost all of the shit that you guys have problems with were forced on him by Sony. Take Indigo Prophecy, for example. That game was fucked with to the Nth degree by Sony. First off, they made it go from 4 disks to 1, despite Cage making the scenes out of order to try and convince them to let him keep his huge budget. (This also removed the “Television show” style it was supposed to initially have.) They also told him to make a “Shaq-esque comic relief man”, because they didn’t want the game to be “too dark.” Their meddling got to its worst point in Beyond. First, they told him to make the scenes out of order, probably so that the action wouldn’t be backloaded in the plot, since all of the action occurs near the end. Then, David said that the army and fight scenes WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE GAME AT ALL. We were supposed to simply get a story about a girl trying to live a regular life, despite Aiden screwing around with her life, to which he followed up with “Sony won’t fund the projects if they don’t have fight scenes, as they’re afraid they won’t sell well.” So, they basically fucked around with the entirety of the game’s plot. It’s also partly why Heavy Rain was the best one of his games by far. Yes, he supernatural aspects were cut, leaving some plot holes, but aside from that and Shaun’s age, the only big fuck around they gave him was canceling almost all of the DLC he had planned for Heavy Rain, in favor of shoving Move support into the game.
