This is actually one of the best crochet instructional videos I've ever seen, I didn't feel lost at any point, and I felt like I was working on the project with someone else rather than trying to follow instructions as quickly as possible. Especially how you showed how to end the rows, that's my biggest weakness. Wonderful! I have always wanted a snood, thanks for helping me make it a reality!

Lovely. Thank you so much. We’ve been in another lockdown & I missed my opportunity to get a hair cut after the first lockdown. I am shocked that my hair is now to my waist and the undercut that I had to keep from having a sweaty neck is to my shoulders and I’ve decided to carry on and grow it out so this is what I need to keep my hair in order.

Thank you so much for this, Bronislava. My first attempt looked a little like my dog's breakfast. I have very long hair and a large head and my stitches are very loose, so in my second attempt I reduced the 9-chain to 7 and voila! it worked out fine. It took me two hours and I'm wearing it right now! xxx

you are very welcome - you can make it shorter too if needed - instead of 13 rows make 10 or 11 rows of the netting... also I realized that I could just keep it simpler - instead of those "9ch" sts in row 2-13 you could do "8ch" stitches instead :-)

WONDERFUL....WONDERFUL...I have always wanted to make one of these, but never came across a pattern that was like the old 1945 snoods that were worn. All others I have seen were too short and looked...bad. The snoods needed to be 'longer' (hung down to the shoulders) back then because, most women had very long hair. Thank you so much. This one is perfect!
@HandMadeRukodelky
@HandMadeRukodelky 7 жыл бұрын
thank you - and I was worried I made it too long - but then again anyone can make it shorter, or longer just by repeating the row with "ch9, 1sc" stitches - and like I mentioned perhaps even just "ch8, 1 sc" would be perfect too = less changes... we are very fortunate that Raven Claw1280 asked me to do a video :-D

I am so excited to make my own snood! I liked one I had as a preteen but with my school not letting me wear it I kinda lost it and than despite my attempt to grow my hair out, I chopped it off cause it bothers me 😅. The fact that I had only done the single stitch (?) Previously made this very interesting to try but mine is looking good. I admit I had to listen and watch the part for the second row a few times cause my poor brain didn't realize there were two of the rows sharing a loop so hearing that I was supposed to have 24 was confusing when I had like 12 or 13. Than I had like one that had 3 on one loop before I noticed when counting. I do occasionally have to rewatch some of the end of the row bits again because I struggle on them. (I haven't passed the u's part yet though.

Hi Bronislava. I finished my snood using the video you made. It's perfect. I'll also make a second snood using the additional tips you provided on how to shorten it. The large size is great for my hair after blowing drying (it's like a lion mane)...I know the shortened one will be great for when I flat iron my hair and it reduces in volume. You're an awesome teacher! Thank you so much for making this video. If there's a way that I can send you a pic of my snood let me know.

I just made one for my sister! Your video was super easy to follow! The only critique is that I wished you would have shown how you fastened off and dealt with the end. I just fastened off like normal and weaved the tail into the band.

My head is smaller than yours so I did 5 sc and a decrease stitch. I repeated this around for the first row of the headband part

I've made two snoods for practice until I can get the right yarn I want, but I don't quite understand how to make the band smaller. It's a little bit big for me the way you do it. In that second row of the band you do 2 sc's then 3 sc's in the ch2 spaces, if I just do 2 sc's will that make it smaller?
@HandMadeRukodelky
@HandMadeRukodelky 6 жыл бұрын
yes, you are heading in the right direction; you can do that - all 2 sc in each space ---- OR 2x 2 sc's & 1x 3 sc, ---- OR 3x 2 sc's & 1x 3 sc, = depending how many sc you need to fit around your head - and do not worry if the repeats cut short at the end of the row.... it will not hurt if it is a little off at the end of the row... 🍀

Love this thank you , can you tell me what how to get different sizes like small medium and large
@HandMadeRukodelky
@HandMadeRukodelky 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Mom, that is a great question - there are two ways - one is increasing (for a larger size) or decreasing (for a smaller size) stitches - according to a circumference measurement. Another way is to use thinner yarn (for smaller size) or thicker yarn (for a bigger head). With the thicker yarn I am not sure if that would be an option though. good luck 🍀

Thank you so much for your tutorial. What yarn and hook size did you use? What was the recommended size to use for the yarn? I want to use sock wool (regular4 play), but using the recommened size for the hook, I would end up in like kids size hair snood I assume. What hook would you use for regular sock wool and do I need to change the stitch count for the general pattern or just follow your pattern? I want my the squares ur "U"s a bit smaller and not as bulky, But I can´t figure out how to adjust. I tried another tutorial and used sock wool and the redommended size hook and it was too small. I wasted so much time and want to get it right this time.

Hi Cynthia - I think my yarn was light worsted yarn (#3 weight) and I think I used either 3.75mm or 4mm hook. If I would be using sock yarn, I would use 3mm hook, I would do 2 or 3 more rows of increases (depending on diameter), and then I would do my chain loops either 6 or 5 chain stitches in each loop - that would make those loops be smaller plus the thinner yarn and smaller hook I just noticed that I mentioned in the description below the video what materials I used.

Having done "THE BIG CHOP" - could you consider doing one for CURLY haired ladies following The CURLY GIRL METHOD PLS? Many wools and yarns tease out FRIZZ from even straight hair- maybe if we used a silkier yarn it would suffice. A shorter hair net for bobbed hair or maybe this would work for HEIGHT on the crown for curlier ladies. It's a popular thing. However the satin bonnets look like super Mario mushroom man... You ve made this beautiful... ✌️♥️💪🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Cara, great questions 👍 - first regarding the yarn - you could try to use 100% silk yarn as the silk is probably smoothest of them all (perhaps also polyester yarn, but polyester doesn't breathe)... regarding the snood for shorter hair - just do fewer rows of the open lace stitches - then crochet enough of stitches that would go around your head. I hope this is helpful and good luck 🍀
