Yes, I wanted this tool and, yes, I have trouble tying a loop knot...got to see if this makes it easier. I believe practicing knot tying and / or actually fishing on a regular basis helps your knot tying dexterity.

Usually used Canoe Man loop, but lost several nice fish and then saw a line test that said never use that knot with fluorocarbon line..It failed Every test. So learning the nonslip knot now, but loops are bigger and hard to tie with numb, old fingers standing in a cold river. This will help tremendously! Thank you very much for all your tips! 👍👍

I find the perfection knot is quicker to tie, less bulky and does not require a tool. But the mitten pliers are my favorite. Thanks Tim

Almost how I make leader loops. I used the same knot just not using a hook, but wrap it on the tapered tips. Not sure if that knot it appropriate for a leader loops. Just the first loop knot coming to mind. This will be perfect for those winding days. Thanks

Excellent! If I may suggest an improvement, after putting the clamp through the loop, you can twist the clamp around 5-7 times instead of wrapping with your fingers. Even easier.

Tim, I've reviewed this great hack at tying the Lefty Loop many times. What's the advantage of the mitten forceps vs a hemostat? I like both but find the mitten forceps easier. Thanks.

Same principle as the "Orvis hemostymat knot". Cool either way.

I would never put the line loop in tension against the eye of the hook to cinch down on the knot like demonstrated. When you do that you never know how much stretch you have done to the loop of the line already causing a premature break. What you should do is just pull the main leader/line and the tag end and cinch in on the knot, leaving the lure/hook dangling. I have brocken off on a big fish doing that, but when I have cinch in on the knot just using the main line and the tag end, I never have once!

this1st time in my life actually looking up knot instructions, and gotta say this wasnt easy ... granted i tried it on a paracord and grapple hook insteas of fishing line- def a intermediate to advanced knot in my book

why though? you could have been done way sooner and easier. instead of starting to twist the line on itself, make a second overhand knot and then just pull the two together. eezy-peezy. it has a name but I can't recall it right now. I use that loop knot all the time and have never had it fail ever, and it doesn't get any easier than that to tie.

Just saying - research your knots. I took all kinds if hooks, and all the common brands, and tied different knots to two identical hooks, and pulled til one of them snapped. That way I found out, that the thickness of the fly wire is more important for some brands than others. And I actually found a line, that had a 100(?)+ % knot strength - it never snapped the knot with a half blood knot with two loops in the eye.! But - since I don't want to leave a fish with a long piece of line, or to push my line to the absolute limmet, I never used it - but choose the single eye loop, that has 95+% strenght with most lines. Oh yeah - I also lifted buckets with the hooks, and filled weight in them til they snapped, to control the lines strength. Gave me a lot of peace im mind knowing - and not guessing/hoping aso.
